Palin's Unpresidential Calendar (She's skipping NBC/Politico debate, as she should)
The Wall Street Journal ^ | John Fund

Posted on 03/08/2011 10:43:44 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Yesterday Sarah Palin sent another signal that she probably won't enter the 2012 presidential race when it was announced she would be doing an event in Denver on May 2—the same day as the first Republican presidential debate.

Ms. Palin has agreed to appear in suburban Lakewood at a "Tribute to the Troops with Sarah Palin," a fundraiser for the families of fallen soldiers in suburban Denver. John Andrews, a former GOP gubernatorial nominee who heads the Centennial Institute, says Ms. Palin will not accept a fee and all proceeds from the event will go to family members who have lost breadwinners in combat.

The political significance of her acceptance lies in the fact that the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is set to hold the first debate among presidential candidates on May 2, an event moderated by Brian Williams of NBC and John Harris of Politico.com....

So if she doesn’t run do we eat our own like last time so that the weakest possible candidate will get the nomination or do we coalesce around a candidate that might not be perfect, but can beat Obama?

There is zero doubt in my mind that Palin is going to run. That doesn’t mean I support her candidacy, only that I am certain she’ll run.

As far as “eating our own”, to a great extent that’s a natural product of the primary system.

Interesting. I am very interested in whom Sarah Palin ends up supporting. Very.

The debates is where she needs to shine.

I support her candidacy, assuming there is one, but I will not support her nomination, or vote for it, until I see her perform well in a debate against someone a LOT smarter than Biden!

The self promoting publicity tours of Palin and Hannity under the guise of doing it for the charity case troops , demean the sacrifices of our military.

Excellent point. I think that now is the time to get behind a seasoned campaigner who's time has finally come. Harold Stassen!

Sarah said that if she ran it would be an "unconventional campaign." This may be part of it....refusing the NBC claptrap in favor of addressing a veterans' affair.

I never lost an election when I held public office. One of my three unbreakable campaign stump rules was "go where your votes are and blow off the rest".

Myth - lol!

If she runs, we will see a campaign like not other. Maybe the theme song will be Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”...

The later - always. But first thngs first. That’s what primaries are for. Mission one is to prevent the worst candidates from gaining traction and that includes stopping mitt romney. He isn’t one of our own.

As a vet and the father of a Navy Captain, I call bullshit on your opinion.

Every military person that I've talked with about these type of events is not only grateful for the financial help but thankful that America is honoring their service.

If you are a vet, you need an attitude adjustment, if you are not STFU and get out of here.

depend on the candidate. I’m sick of the republicans demanding conservatives to kowtow to rinos whenever the rino win a primary, but the rinos never back the conservatives when the conservative win the primary e.g castle, scozza, murkowski and their supporters. In all those cases, the rino refuse to back the tea partiers
