TRUMP - The analysis begins in earnest as it should. Obama has announced his reelection campaign from the vantage and advantage of the bully pulpit.
Contenders are lining up as America as America struggles through a long recession, yearning for strong decisive leadership.
Donald Trump has teased the electorate in the past, pretending to seriously consider a run for the White House. This Presidential election finds Republican support for some politically green but very appealing potential candidates. These may well bide their time and wait until 2016 before displaying the audacity to become pretenders to the seat in the Oval Office. Past analysis such as Obama The First Tell, was helpful in anticipating a President Elects road ahead. Trumps superficial relationship with the voting public has been distorted by its inevitable distance from an unusual celebrity billionaire. Donald Trump has delighted in each moment of attention he has been able to attract by jumping onto the spotlight dot. His reach into our communal consciousness begs a little scrutiny.
Trump is not ideologically anchored. This moves his appeal factor positively as he will carry little obligation to either political party. He will also present a more refreshing alternative to a public tired of Washington indebtedness to special interests. At the very least, he will be more honest with how he feels, and he will easily be more knowledgeable with on all topics than what we have seen subjected to since the last Presidential election.
A lack of ideological fervor also makes it more likely that from his perch in the Oval Office he would be a pragmatist. Unlike the embarrassingly far left rooted individuals choking the Obama Administration, Trump would most probably pluck the best talent, however it might present itself, wherever he could find it, and in whatever political flavor it might be drenched.
His insecurities mean his ego can be stroked to get his favor and attention, but he isn't narcissistic. In Trumps case the insecurities also suggest that he is driven to succeed.
Trump will surround himself with experienced talent, and it is unlikely that he will punt important decisions down the road, or to someone else, unlike Obama who is clearly controlled by his handlers and seems ready, willing and able, to have others take care of business. If and when America elects Trump, he will be the President, NOT one of his handlers. Trump will not chase the Presidency in order to enable a retirement anxious for newfound opulence and luxury. Trump might be seduced, but he wont be bought. Trump will get into the face of anyone in his administration not delivering the goods whether on the economy, on international affairs, and on national affairs. His ego will not allow for anything to screw up. Trump will be a task master.
He'll probably try to figure out how to get his name emblazoned over the White House front door. He has a tendency to brand everything he touches. One way or another, hell want the world to know Donald Trump was here. Destiny would be his middle name for at least four years.
Getting elected would not be Trump's "crowning moment," . . . the four years of his Presidency would be. He may not be as bright as Slick Willy Clinton, however he isn't as ideologically rooted, therefore his pragmatism will be more effective and he is likely to be more persuasive. Oh, and he will not tarnish the Oval Office the way Slick did. He isn't afraid of hard work, and his track record suggests an interested, inquisitive mind, unlike what we have recognized in the current occupant of the leather chair in the Oval Office.
Trump likes attention, obviously, but his need to be successful at everything he does, means hes a workaholic, which would be a welcome change from the reality we have discovered in the incumbent.
Trump has been in the construction business in New York, Atlanta, Las Vegas and Chicago where he's had to have a close and warm working relationship with the mob since the mob controls such minor and unimportant industries as Concrete. Those guys are not the easiest crowd in town to deal with. Trump knows how to ''get things done," and will. When you need a guy, he "knows a guy."
Trump cleaned his bankers - got the better of them through his now legendary recoveries from the grim shadows of the poorhouse, again, and again, and again. That took unmitigated brass. Trump comes across as a bit of a lecher who could give Slick Willy a run for his money, but thats just a perception. Slick used other people's executive jets to take advantage of impressionable young women, and the whole world knew about it except Hillary. Trump has his own plane. Love for America? It is impossible to deny that Trump really loves America, and is passionate about its success and leadership in the world.
Contributions to both political parties? You're kidding? . . . . Who cares. He bought some support. That's what Congress is there for, . . . to be bought. The results are obvious and ever present.
Trump has a long track record of being a leader. America is longing for a leader who can deliver more than long words on a teleprompter saying little and delivering less.
Genuflection somehow that is not a picture of a President Trump and any foreign head of state which would be served up by the MSM. Ever. Knocking fists? Perhaps. Genuflection? Not much.
Trumps fluid I-speak-my-mind-regardless-who-Im-talking-to approach would be a refreshing alternative from the daily decantings of unrelenting telepromptered dronings we are served from the White House. Not that Trumps musing are all intelligent, many are fused in common sense, but at least hes entertaining when he drives off the road.
Elections are greatly influenced by the state of the economy. Regardless what the Administration, or its supportive pundits pretends, . . . the economy continues to be in serious trouble and will be so through the 2012 election. Additionally, there is no will or clarity in the White House, and not much of it in a majority of Congress to deal head-on with the deficit, or the debt, or job creation. Trump provides an alternative which the poles currently suggest is being seriously considered.
But that being said, I just can't stand the guy!
He’s a NY liberal, he’s supported Hillary and far too many Freepers have bought into his story for no other reason than he’s a birther.

Plus,he has a night job.
Folks like you just don’t understand how tough the business environment is. I am going to a RINO fundraiser on Monday just to cover may bases. You need to make sure that you are covered if some Commie wins an election. Things are far different when you need to make a payroll than spouting off about being a purist.
We are full of Rino's and they all want to "reach across the aisles". I am fed up with Rino's and weak candidates. Trump will have my vote if he runs!
To me, it's an indication that the Republican voters don't know what they really want.
The base knows what it wants. Clarity and sharp questioning. Trump is doing it and making waves and Palin is mucking about and disregarded. How else can you see it?
Trump is a “real man”? Huh? Trump is another RINO, who too many, already, see as a conservative, instead. IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH!
I love it already.
More power to him for his outspokenness concerning Obama’s birth certificate, but that in no way should vault him to front runner status for the republican nomination.
He is no conservative by a long shot, and his track record over many issues, in particular BANKRUPTCIES, makes him a terrible choice for POTUS, IMO.
How else can you see it? It's not some TV reality show here. He doesn't get to fire anybody he wants to.
Sorry Lazlo, I wish he had undertaken the birther issue up back in 2008.
I know nothing about what he really believes. Do you?
This is a pretty good summation of how I feel.
What does Palin really believe? She is all over the map. Big McLame supporter. Does McLame excite you? What about his proclamation that Hitlery is doing a bang up job this week? None sense.
I like his America first tone. Why are jobs going to China, India etc, why are we fighting in Libya spending our money and China is the largest customer for Libyan oil???? Why build roads and schools in Afghanistan and have to rebuild them in one week after they are destroyed while schools and roads in America crumble??? I like the way he dislikes government convoluted logic and stupidity. Trump does come with risks on social issues and 2nd Amendment, but all Americans need jobs and food in their belly before we worry about social issues. He is going to do well with Reagan Democrats and blue collar working men. Wall Street banks??? He knows how they operate and what they did to the American economy, they will fear him because he knows their MO and where to look.
I don’t remember expressing excitement about McCain. I was making an observation, Lazlo.
I just saw Trump getting Roasted on Comedy Central by Larry King, Snoop Dog and others.
It just seems Palin was the darling, now everybody is running to Trump. You don’t see that?
Sorry. I am just bugged at a guy going after Obummer with both barrels red hot is getting heat here at FR. It is about time we take this loser on. Trump is doing it and is very successful so far. That earns my respect.
Did you see it? It was really disgusting.
I find it disturbing.
I’ll take a deep breath myself.
I didn’t see it, but it certainly does not surprise me.
Whoever ends up being the republican nominee will be ruthlessly trashed in such a manner. Especially someone who has any chance at all to win in 2012.
After President Ronald Reagan, the next GOP Presidents/final GOP Presidential candidates were “to the left” of Reagan, and we haven’t gotten out of this “ongoing negative funk” yet. NO MORE RINOS, please!
This is an old article from the 90’s. They just crossed out Jesse Ventura and inserted Donald Trump.
The one for Pamela Anderson was unbelievable.
Sure, Trump deserves credit for bringing the issue to the forefront, but before anyone starts to get tingles up their leg about Trump, research his background to see what he's all about.
I personally don't get hung up on a single issue, but try to balance my opinion on the whole package being offered by each “candidate”.
Trump is an egomaniac that has grasped upon this issue for his own personal ambitions, and in a few months I believe it will become crystal clear to the bulk of conservatives that he would be a better fit for the left than republicans.
Or Ross Perot, it’s hard to tell.
Palin endorsed Trump’s birther quest. That puts a very high lift to his efforts. A Palin-Trump ticket doesn’t seem far fetched today going by Trump’s expression for USA exceptionalism. When and if there is a get to gether of any sort the combination could be jelling. I believe Trump could work with a strong woman and Palin with a strong man. My hope, if such happens, is that Trump recognizes the wrongs of the people he has played footsy with in the past and forgoes any further dealings and instead caters to the world of Palin.

From my point of view which isn’t anywhere near the point of being a Trump supporter I will say that I believe;
a) We wouldn’t hear any McCain type BS about how his opponent would make a good President.
b) He would support our best international allies and be a nightmare to our enemies.
c) We could hear a refreshing no nonsense outspokenness regarding the stupidity of the entrenched bureaucracy in the fight he would face to get the nation in fiscal shape. He would tell people they could go pound sand.
d) I think he can twist some arms to get things done fiscally.
e) The real unknowns about Trump are what kind of judges would he would appoint and whether he can be counted on to effectively support social conservative issues. I don’t believe he really gives a damn when it comes to social issues important to conservatives.
But until he throws his hat in the ring all this speculation is pretty much moot.
When it comes to Palin I know we would get a-c and rock solid on e but I don’t know if she could deliver on d.
And same with her, until the hat is in the ring its all moot speculation.
The Donald isn’t going to be president, but he will spice things up a bit.
Thanks for posting that, it’s a keeper! So right-on, I couldn’t have said it better.
And to the people who say they “can’t stand the guy”, respect is what’s more important, not nicey-nice affability. If I hear one more pundit or politician on tv say, even if they disagree with BHO on virtually everything, how much they “like him personally” and what a “nice guy” he is, I’ll barf.
Trump does love this country, with good reason, and he’s just the alpha leader we need - he’s a worthy adversary who can defeat BHO.
Very true and what wannabe president spends millions or has millions to burn to find out about the fraud in the WH?They seem to let Donald burn through his cash and offer no assistance or help.Trump is a put up or shut up man.
Personally, I would rather not buy into a kind of false "conventional wisdom", and look a little further into what his core values are...which is what some our fellow voters should have done with the Obama "craze" a couple of years ago.
Trump has a way of saying some things that sound good, but isn't that what Obama's voters would tell you about Obama in 2008? Sure, we know that Trump is a businessman, but do we know much more? There are a lot of successful businessmen and women who would make a terrible POTUS.
I am an ego maniac as well. When I wake up in the morning, I do everything possible to put food on my table for my wife and daughter. Trump so far has does the same. Can you tell me the last time we had a POTUS that did that? When our economy is stabilized, we will all be happy. Your post is the same BS I read about in 1979. Time to get real and solve some issues. Working for a living is not a bad thing in my book.
while i agree with him on some issues, i cannot/will not vote for him unless he is the GOP nominee and running against Obama... and i don’t see this happening...
If someone signed up for FreeRepublic who was pro-abortion, loved the U.N. and gave money to Harry Reid in 2010 they would be banned before the second IBTZ. But you want a person with these same beliefs to be President?
He’s making some enemies, of course:
Donald Trump a Billionaire Racist
http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/WO1104/S00258/donald-trump-a-billionaire-racist.htm
You are delusional at best. If you believe Trump can stabilize our economy considering his track record, I would have to say it’s time for you to put down the crack pipe and seek professional help!
I think we'd like to start by stopping this never ending cycle of snapping defeat from the jaws of victory. Palin was doing great, until she started falling under the influence of GOP paid handlers and consultants who are busy filling her ears with how to win the White House. Of course, their typical advice: Don't confront liberals, show that you're bipartisan, and it'd be best to lay low for a while until Obama's gotten his campaign underway.
All junk ideas, just like the stupid big tent philosophy that ensures that no one likes where the party's going.
Here's my take: Trump stinks on a lot of conservative bulletpoints. But presidents don't make laws; congress does. And I can't see any other candidate who'd be more likely to have a huge coattail for real conservatives to get elected into Congress. Obama might have a billion dollar warchest, but with Trump in the game, he'll need to waste tens of millions in solid blue states, not to mention battleground states.
Trump comes with a huge risk - he shoots from the hip, and can be brutally honest. He could easily stand before a massive group of Iowa farmers and tell them that ethanol is a horrendous government drain and a drain on the nation's harvest, and that not only should federal subsidies for it be ended, but also the requirements to use it to contaminate gasoline.
That said, Trump's a natural before the camera, can think on his feet, and has a very charismatic personality. He'd confront and explain his viewpoint when they start dragging out the dirt on him, and turn those attacks into very cheap advertising for his campaign.
So, yes, I'd vote for Trump. I'd prefer a conservative who'd step forward and actually push conservative ideals and confront the liberals, but I know that I'll not get that. If one emerged tomorrow, they'd also be poisoned by the same GOP machine that continues to make Palin a footnote, because, truthfully, the central committee would much rather Romney win the White House.
“Hes a NY liberal, hes supported Hillary and far too many Freepers have bought into his story for no other reason than hes a birther.”
Exactly Right! He has also given money to both Democrats and Republican in their campaigns.
Something to consider. That’s why I come here.
So you're saying you'll vote for Trump because he's not a conservative.
Ooookaaaayyy...
