According to Romney family lawyers it doesn't matter if Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, Kenya, or even Paris: Because his mother was an American (and not even Donald Trump questions that), he is eligible to be President.
The Romney lawyers investigated this question in the 1960s, when Mitt Romney's father, Governor George Romney of Michigan, was vying for the Republican presidential nomination. George Romney had been born in a Mormon colony in Chihuahua, Mexico, as his grandfather moved there with his wives in the 1880s after polygamy was outlawed in the U.S.
While some opponents nicknamed him "Chihuahua George," his suitability for the highest office because of his birth was never seriously challenged. The reason his campaign faltered was because of his shift in position on the Vietnam War:

Mitt’s father (or any candidate’s) parents don’t have to be natural born citizens; they DO have to be American citizens. Their being American citizens confers on their children the ‘natural born’ status.
If George Romney ran for POTUS he was, at a minimum, a U.S. citizen, whether or not ‘natural born.’ My memory of the time is that George Romney never had much more chance of becoming the GOP nominee than Mitt has today. So the NBC issue was never a major deal. Brackets, on the other hand, managed to get himself elected, so it is, or should be, a major deal.
But if Mitt wants to spend another $20M or so of his money, what do I care?
So, I guess all of Mitt’s grandmothers swear he was born in the U.S.
And nobama doesn’t need a BC because Mitt’s establishment guys told him so.

What law school did these lawyers go to ? If he was born out of the country , under the law at the time, his mother did not live in the US for 5 years after the age of 14 before he was born. Thus she could not pass on US citizenship to him. Do they even research the law before making these asinine comments ?

It is possible he is right. Doesn’t matter. It hasn’t been clarified by congress or the supreme court. Therefore what romney’s lawyers say doesn’t mean squat. What any responsible candidate should be saying is that the very fact there is a question on obama’s legitimacy is an outrage. There should be zero question about it as it should have already been settled. The fact we have stricter criteria for children playing baseball than people becoming president is absurd. Its not about obama. It is about making sure the constitution is followed. And many just don’t even care to get a definitive ruling which irks the heck out of me. As far as obama is concerned - I don’t care - whatever it is it is. I just want the constitution followed.
