Sarah Palin has deliberately left the question as to whether or not she will run in 2012 open. For those who believe a bid for the GOP nomination is still a possibility for her, The Arizona Republic provides some further evidence: after months of rumors, Palin may have purchased a house in Scotsdale, Arizona.
A deal on a secluded, 8,000-square-foot home in far north Scottsdale was recently closed by Safari Investments LLC for $1.695 million cash. The terms of the deal hide the identity of the owner, and when the attorney listed on the property records, Alan Kierman, was asked if Palin was the buyer, his response was an intriguing "no comment."
According to the Republic, Palin has been rumored to be considering headquartering her 2012 White House campaign in Scottsdale, if there is a campaign. A anonymous source from her camp also told Ben Smith at Politico that she would base a potential presidential campaign in Scottsdale, near where Bristol Palin recently bought a house in Maricopa. Palin has also been mentioned as a possible candidate for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Senator Jon Kyl.
But there are many reasons why Palin might leave Alaska that have nothing to do with a bid for 2012 or a run for a seat in the Senate. Joshua Green described in The Atlantic that Palin's popularity in her home state is rapidly dwindling. A rumored Democratic poll showed her to be less popular in Alaska right now than Barack Obama. Green writes that though Palin, "still lives in Alaska, she has all but withdrawn from its public life, appearing only seldom and then usually to film her reality-television show, Sarah Palins Alaska."
If Alaska "has moved on" from Palin, as Green suggests, she may very well be ready to move on from Alaska. As a public figure, no doubt it is difficult for her to fly back and forth from Alaska to appearances around the country, and Arizona would be a more convenient location. There seems to be little keeping here in state. Her son Track is still in Alaska, but he recently married his high school sweetheart, People reports. Palin may also want to keep an eye on Bristol in Maricopa. Or maybe she's just sick of the cold weather.
In any event, buzz surrounding Palin's supposed purchase were enough to prompt Public Policy Polling, a Democratic company based in North Carolina, to ask Arizona voters in an automated survey whether they would like Palin to move to their state. Fifty-seven percent said no, 27 percent said yes, and 16 percent were not sure. Just like in the political polls, Palin has her work cut out for her.
Sarah Palin Leads Potential Pack of Republican Senate Candidates
I don't know why she needs a house, she lives in their heads rent-free!!
Statement of the year award should be yours 2DV!
To the point and oh so on target!
LOL I read about them purchasing an Arizona home months ago.. not new news
If Palin gets in the race she will lead this pack of candidates immediately. The idea that she is “unelectable” is absurd. Anyone who has been around awhile and threatens the establishment suffers the same thing. Reagan was supposedly “unelectable” too. This election is Palin’s for the taking in my opinion. She is the natural candidate to unite the Republican party, movement conservatives, Tea Party folks and people generally fed up with the establishment. The economy sucks and will continue to suck right through 2012. If Palin enters, her negatives will diminish over time and she will defeat Hussein. President Palin has a nice right to it eh?
Shakin’ in their boots.
But why Arizona of all places. From very cold to very hot temps
among other things. The bed of illegals?
Maybe she’ll pick Sheriff Joe for VP.
That would really loosen some screws.
So far, this seems to be a rumor spread by the liberal media. It’s certainly possible, but as yet no reason to really think it is true.
As for running in 1012, I think Sarah probably will, since I don’t see anyone else who can do the job that needs doing. But she doesn’t need to move to do so.
Run Sarah, run!
Moving to Arizona was like moving back to America after living in South Florida for 20+ years. Who can blame her for wanting to live here?
Why buy a house when she will be moving into government housing in 2013?
President Palin, first white, married, ethical/moral, mother of a non-aborted child.
Stew in that juice, lefties.
A rumored Democratic poll showed her to be less popular in Alaska right now than Barack Obama
the rumored democratic poll, how about the rumored gop poll that showed her very popular
Yes she does need to move in the lower 48 for awhile if she is running, Alaska is too far to fly back and forth....renting a place is a waste of time. By the way, I heard that many Alaskans own a second home in the sunbelt area during the harsh winters of Alaska
... after Obama anyone is electable.
Wow, just wow. You even got a Reagan reference in there as well.
Well talk about grasping at straws. Naturally the guy is going to say no comment since the deal required no disclosure of the owner, regardless of who the owner is.
Could be, of course. But I think I’ll wait and see. Arizona doesn’t have a lot of electoral votes, and it’s not a key primary state. And it’s kind of on the edge of the lower 48.
Sarah is on FOX with Judge Jeanne and called Obama our temporary leader. LOL!
