What's Sarah Doing?
Dick Morris' Website ^ | June 1, 2011 | Dick Morris And Eileen McGann

Posted on 06/02/2011 10:07:19 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

What is Sarah Palin up to? She is touring the country in a campaign bus, appearing at campaign rallies, making campaign speeches, drawing campaign crowds. But, she insists, it’s no campaign. Or at least that she’s no candidate.

In 1995, General Colin Powell paralyzed the Republican nominating process by flirting with running for president as he toured America signing his new book. He ultimately didn’t run, but he sold a lot of books and monopolized the nation’s attention for months in the autumn.

In 2007, Barack Obama toured America signing books and used the tour to animate his image and spun it off into a campaign.

In 2011, Donald Trump didn’t even write a book but dominated the media by acting like a candidate before he dropped out.

And now, Sarah Palin who has neither a new book nor a candidacy, is running around sucking up all the media attention.

Why? Is she preparing to run? We doubt it. The polling suggests that she could not be nominated. More than one Republican Primary voter in four feels that she has too much baggage to be elected. While most like her and many love her, large swaths of GOP primary voters are worried that she would pave the way for four more years of Obama.

Higher speaking fees? Better TV ratings? More personal visibility? Likely all are motivations. Maybe she is doing it for the same reason Bill Clinton gave for his affair with Monica “because I could.” Perhaps she just wants one final go-round before attention shifts to those who are really running for president.

In any case, Sarah Palin is doing a disservice to her party. There are many good candidates wanting to nurture their infant campaigns who cannot grow in Palin’s shadow. How are Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum, or Jon Huntsman to attract national attention when Sarah is breathing in all the oxygen? And how can good potential candidates like South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint or Texas Governor Rick Perry to test the waters when Palin’s bus is on the highway?

Mitt Romney, the front runner, is the main beneficiary of the Palin tour. In the aftermath of Huckabee’s and Trump’s withdrawals, the former Massachusetts Governor has consolidated his status as the candidate out in front. Normally, this accolade would earn him searing media coverage and unwelcome attention to any defect in his record or his past. But not now. All eyes are on Palin and Romney can continue raising money and attracting supporters in peace.

Sarah needs to get into the race or stay out. What she should not do is attract the attention just because she can.

Dick wants to get back to business-as-usual.

Business-as-usual is the problem.

ineluctable

Either way works for me. Unbeatable ticket, IMHO.

"Et tu, Dick?"

Priceless. Well done.

I have never quite gotten my arms comfortably around how this grossly perverted toe-sucking degenerate succeeded in morphing from cherished Clinton Criminal Cabal advisor to "conservative sage/mentor and GOP confidant."

Now he drops the slimey pretense of liking Palin but not being sure if she's going to run, to picking up the all out assault on her with the patently transparent, "If she runs, she'll guarantee 4 more years of O'Bungsuck."

A faction of Sarah's support structure (wider than the Great Plains and deeper than the Marianas Trench) is about to release in June a true game changer. A documentary video independently produced with appearances by key players from Sarah's Alakan Adminitration juggernaut is going to lay out the truth about Sarah's time as Givernor, what she tried to accomplish, and how she succeeded at every single turn.

While some of the narrative will be Sarah's own voice, those segments are all excerpts from her Books On Tape available to the public.

The Enemies of Sarah on both sides of the aisle not only know that it's coming, but they are also (for the most part) conversant with her actual record in Alaska; a record which puts to bed forever the suggestion that she might be ignorant or unqualified to lead this nation.

"The Undefeated" comes out later this month. That gives her lying, weasel-faced detractors very little time to do their worst. And trust me, that's exactly what we're going to see from these filth. Between the Dembicile who screeched that her bus tour is a "violation of Federal Law" and little Dickie "Can I suck your toe?" Morris' most recent salvo, we are seeing the beginning of the "WE MUST DESTROY HER NOW!!!" onslaught.

This is going to be fun. Palin is opening up can after can of whup-ass on these imbeciles, and they are about to start flapping like a penguin when the batteries fail.

"Her tour is sucking up the oxygen for Mitt. His announcement is a yawn, while the media goes chasing after Sarah."

At this point, Mitt is not the one who needed media attention. In fact the media attention he was getting prior to this "tour" focused attention on his potential conflict with the GOP on the healthcare issue. He was lumped in with Newt Gingrich in several conservative publications as two who were running against the party. This scrutiny caused Newt to implode. The same kind of scrutiny caused Giulani to lose his frontrunner status in the 2008 campaign. Romney has the money and organization to weather through a phase with little or no media attention, while most of his opponents do not.

All the other candidates are free to have their own bus tours if they wanted to. The reason they don't is they know that no one would care and they'd be lucky to draw even one reporter. Sarah, on the other hand...........

Dick Morris’ basic business model is to find targeted groups of people and tell them what they want to hear. He’s been quite successful with this, right or wrong. Right now, his group is the desperate GOP establishment. He’s just telling them what they want to hear.

She’s firing up the base and setting expectations. Whoever is nominated will have to run in an environment heavily influenced by what she is doing right now.

You guys are correct.

Dick says she has no chance because one in four pubbie voters feels she has too much baggage. Which is false, but they got this info from tv media (mostly fox news). Then, he says she should drop out because she is hurting her party.

So basically Morris says that if the beltway media doesn’t like a candidate, that candidate should leave the race. Hmmmm. Sounds like a great rule for picking a President. /s

Nope, she's just the right hand He's using to crush the debauched and restore this Judeo/Christian Republic.

Deal with it.

Someone should remind Dick that Sarah Palin did NOT invite the media to follow her around..that was THEIR decision, NOT hers

Yes, T-Paw would have trouble drawing a crowd to the Washington Monument for the 4th of July.

Even if he was giving away free beer.

Well, maybe free rootbeer.

Baggage? Morris claiming one in four Republicans have problems with Palin’s baggage?

Liberal positions is what Morris's boys have. Romney has Romneycare and Abortion. Pawlenty has Obamacare, Global Warming and Stimulus support. Aside from that, both are just such exciting candidates. Both these guys should play real well with Conservatives, I'm sure, just like John McCain!

But, let's talk about Dick Morris's favorite subject, Dick Morris.

Without Palin countering him, the race was at risk of being cast as Mitt & the Midgets. Palin’s presence is a welcome reminder as to who really has the stature to face Obama.

Well, I’d say that if I called someone my “good friend” then turned around and ran for the very office she is running for...

If you’re going to run, just do it, but don’t call your competition your “good friend”.

Bachmann and her hub worked for Jim Carter. Has she ever explained that total lack of judgement?

I happen to think Bachmann is a stalking horse for Romney. You don’t. We have differing opinions on that. Let it go.

Dick’s idea of crippling personal baggage is that the dhimmicrat dirty operatives and MEdia continuous brand Governor Palin as “stupid”...

So, it must be a done deal.

The elites must cede this point. People will “think” Sarah Palin is “stupid” because, well, that is what people “think” and that is what SNL shows with Tina Fey (who will also make an excellent caricature of Michelle Bachmann, if needed).

Besides, Governor Palin has a twang, is a living walking ad against abortion, has fluffy hair, and no Ivy League degrees. Why, it simply won’t DO.
