Palin In New Hampshire: Best of luck to you, Mitt!
Human Events ^ | June 2, 2011 | John Hayward

Sarah Palin’s “One Nation” bus tour just happens to be rolling through New Hampshire today, en route to a big clambake on the Seacoast. Some reporters noticed this is happening on the same day Mitt Romney formally announces his Presidential bid, and asked Palin about it. She told them it was a coincidence, and took the opportunity to wish Romney “more power” and the “best of luck” before teeing off on him.

It has been strange listening to some people complain this is unfair to Romney. June 2 is not Mitt Romney Day. If he wants an audience, let him draw one. The media and Democrats will not give him any lovely, peaceful days of quiet and respectful attention if he’s the GOP nominee against Obama.

Palin did Romney a favor by politely and clearly stating some of the most compelling arguments against him. Speaking of RomneyCare and its health-care mandates, she said, “In my opinion, any mandate coming from government is not a good thing,” and expected there would be “more explanations coming from former governor Romney on his support for government mandates.”

Palin said Romney had “a good argument” when he said a mandate permissible at the state level is unconstitutional for the federal government, but added “even on a state level and even a local level, mandates coming from a governing body, it's tough for a lot of us independent Americans to accept, because we have great faith in the private sectors and our own families ... making decisions for ourselves.”

If this is the first time Romney is hearing that criticism, he knows nothing of the Tea Party, and will have a rough primary season ahead of him. If no one on his campaign staff has tried hitting him with these arguments in debate prep, he needs new campaign staff.

CBS News points out “the Democratic National Committee is playing up the Palin/Romney situation,” and went as far as creating a little web video to dramatize the encounter:

Word of advice, DNC: subcontract this stuff out to Next Media Animation of Taiwan. They can do a lot better than stick figures, and they understand the American sense of humor much better than you do. (Warning: a very not-safe-for-work animated take on Weinergate can be found here.)

Has Palin invited Romney to her clambake tonight? That would be a lovely gesture. Especially if someone brings a video camera and uploads the resulting conversation to YouTube.

It’s a bad time to start a flame, when someone else in the room is consuming all of the oxygen.

2D, first thing out of the box this moring, Sarah Palin posted an account of the desruction in MA and offered prayers. I searched for a transcript of romney’s announcement speech. Not a single, solitary word to or about the people in the state he was governor of. Not a freaking word.
Not only that, but every network that was covering it live dropped it long before it ended...including msnbc.

Mass. Sen. Paul Tsongas beat Bill Clinton handily in NH in '92. That didn't stop Clinton from calling himself the "Comeback Kid."

Basically, take the position that NH is practically Romney's home state, and that he should be embarrassed if he doesn't get an outright majority.

At Bunker Hill, Palin conspired
To guarantee Romney stays mired
In his health reform law;
At the moment she saw
The whites of his eyes, then she fired.

I would like to suggest a bus tour of the east coast. He could visit the historic spots on an apparent random schedule and have the media follow him all over.

How do you do that from a Lear jet or a super yacht?

I don't think Mitt's own staff or a single Boston Globe intern would follow him for more than a couple of hours.
