Skip to comments.Bachmann campaign manager rips Palin: She 'has not been serious' (Ed Rollins, naturally!)

This could be some of the early shots in the contest for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.
On Tuesdays Kilmeade and Friends on the Fox News Radio network, former Huckabee campaign manager Ed Rollins, who signed up with potential presidential candidate Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann on Monday, explained why he decided to join the Bachmann camp.
Well Im going to work for Michele Bachmann if she runs, Rollins said. Thats the one that intrigues me the most at this point and I think to a certain extent shes articulate, shes a conservative. Shes got a great story to tell. Shes on the Intelligence Committee. You know, shes unknown to the national audience, but shell become known and thats the candidacy that Im going to work for if she runs.
But Rollins, with his own history of playing offense in presidential campaigns, took a few shots at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who could be a potential rival for Bachmann.
Sarah has not been serious over the last couple of years, Rollins said. She got the vice-presidential thing handed to her. She didnt go to work in the sense of trying gain more substance. She gave up her governorship. You know, I think Michele Bachmann and others have worked hard. She has been a leader of the Tea Party, which is a very important element here. Shes an attorney, done extraordinary things with family values and what have you. So I think she will connect. Shes a great, great communicator and I would say in the race right [now] today, she is probably the best communicator.

How many will actually bother to look up Bachmann’s number, and tell her Ed’s remarks about Governor Palin, are not the way to go???
Ok Bachmann... test number one... fire him or else... you are already on probation.
Ed Rollins is a smart guy but he has a dumb mouth. He spouts off like this and then later is either fired or has to back track.
Bachmann made a huge mistake by adding this RINO jerkoff to his campaign. AFAIC she is not a serious conservative candidate now, and I was more than willing to give her serious consideration.
Pubbie Elitists, if they are smart had better back off the backstabbing of Palin, it won’t work and will make her stronger.
But they probably won’t back off, no one ever said they were very smart. hee hee hee
Bachmann obviously didn’t lay down any ground rules. She better reign in her loose cannon.
The political establishment, regardless of party, is what has put us in the mess we are in today.
The political establishment, regardless of party, really hates Sarah.
Something can be gleaned from this, I believe.
Damn the professional “handlers” they are amoral and part of the reason the nation is in dire straits.
I’ll give him respect, in that he worked for President Ronald Reagan, and that he managed his campaigns......but my respect for him, has thinned a whole lot over the last few years.
So why leave the RINO (Romney) alone who is in the race now?
Bachmann hired Ed Rollins??? Hardly an auspicious start.
Rollins can kiss my ass.
The Republican version of Chris Lehane.
Here’s that number if anyone wants to call: (651) 260-4648.
Also, 651-731-5400 and 320-253-5931
You should send that to her people.
I agree, she should fire him ASAP.
The scarey thing is, Bachmann hired him in the first place.
It shows Bachmann’s poor vetting, poor judgement or her real intentions.
Not a good start.
When does David Gergen sign on?
Most of us would tend to have favorable opinions of both candidates, and would look very harshly on paid political hacks trying to play us off against each other. We are not enemies.
Types like Romney are the common enemy. If the paid political hacks don't get that; they are morons.
Bachman...Palin I like both of them. Rollins has always been and remains a douchebag.
Major screwup. Fatal as far as I’m concerned. No more money from me, Michele, even though you rep the district next to mine. Sounds also like she’s channeling Newt and Slick Willard. Why the propensity to kill a campaign before it’s even out of the gate?
This is bad timing. Way too early.
Do you think rollins might have tried to sign on with Palin and she turned him down? This sounds like the sour grape flavor of the week.
Don’t piss off the Mama Grizzly.
I agree. When I heard Bachmann hired Rollins my opinion of her declined. Ilk like Rollins and Rove were up to their eyballs getting us into this mess. These guys totally perverted politics.
Right away the fool starts attacking Palin. What I want to hear is what Bachmann believes. If I like that, then I want to hear how she will create and/or change policies to mirror those beliefs—assuming she has more than one belief.
Talk about serious pres. contender. If Bachmann persists in retaining Rollins she assumes the mantle of being the unserious pretender.
Especially when they are just regurgitating a lot of the typical left-wing/PDS attacks against Palin.
It is one thing to elaborate about policy differences. But this was a straight hack job by Rollins. Bachmann, if she wants any continuing support from the right, should toss him overboard first chance she gets. But I doubt she will.
the stupids just dont get it.
He did something similar when he took over Huckabee's campaign and attacked Rush Limbaugh.
The more they spew on Sarah, the more powerful she becomes.
She can pull in the money.
I think she may go for a senate seat for now.
I would guess that if Palin were to drop out (or fail to enter) the presidential race that a lot of her support would go to Michelle Bachmann (or so Ms. Bachmann calculates). So she has her proxy go after her rival early. It isn’t pretty. Politics ain’t beanbags.
As things sit we are on schedule to have Mitt Romney as the GOP nominee. He’s running ahead in Iowa and he’s got that ‘favorite son’ thing going in New England. South Carolina might be too late to derail the Romney train.
That comment is attributed to nearly every inside-the-beltway elitist. Who is it that determines they are smart? If you look at the condition of our country under their governance, it certainly is hard to prove the "smart" claim.
Usually the republicans go with a RINO presidential candidate and tack on a conservative VP. Why not do it in reverse? Go with a conservative candidate and then tack on a RINO VP for grins? If the republicans just have to have a RINO on the ticket put them as VP. :-).
Mike Turner is a representative from Ohio, a swing state. He doesn’t really add much but does have a cool name when added to michele’s.
Bachmann - Turner overdrive
(humor alert for those serious types that did not figure it already)
How do we know that he isn’t articulating Bachmann’s views exactly?
Please offer some proof that Rollins is a rino. Reagan was rather fond of him, so I’m inclined to skepticism on this one.
Coming from one of FR’s leading RINO apologists, that’s pretty funny, but I’ll be glad to provide it to you, I just doubt you’ll give much of a fig.
You do really good work.
Stick to the facts. Cutting at me accomplishes nothing. Let’s hear why Rollins is such a rino instead.
I like this lady but she is not going to be the president of this country. I would not vote for her for that position - another one maybe.
I believe several have, which serves as a source of some of the antagonism toward the Governor.
How about his claim that there are no RINOs in the GOP - I guess he sees no problem with NE liberals such as Romney and Guiliani.
And his non-stop Palin bashing puts him in the same camp as the Beltway-addled pinheads the Tea Party fights against.
In other words, Rollins is just more of the same crap some of us have been fighting against for some time.
No surprise the Daily Caller is running with this. They're pot stirrers and don't like Palin or Bachmann.
I do hope Bachmann fires this guy. I'm sure she hired him because he's a campaign veteran, not to attack Palin. My bet is she will if this story blows up. So far no one is really reporting it other than Politico and The Daily Caller.
