Via POLITICO's Juana Summers, Sarah Palin is throwing water on reports she'd ditched her "One Nation" bus tour, with a Facebook post saying she will be performing her civic duty:
"As I said myself at the end of the east coast leg of the tour, the summer is long, and I'm looking forward to hitting the open road again. The coming weeks are tight because civic duty calls (like most everyone else, even former governors get called up for jury duty) and I look forward to doing my part just like every other Alaskan."

If I were guilty, I surely wouldn’t want her on my jury!
I can’t imagine that any lawyer for either side would want her on the jury. The court house would become a mob scene....
Sarah is doing a terrible thing by actually performing jury duty? If she got out of it by lying and scamming like a lot of people do, they’d be cracking her about that. I say the media sucks.
i’m sure she could get out of it if she wanted. it does seem like she’d bring more attention than was needed. unless she already did it and it’s over with. I think Gov Palin would rate a not guilty among freepers.

3 weeks ago I thought she was definitely running, now I’m 50/50 on it. It feels like she’s losing momentum honestly. I wish she’d announce tomorrow.

Yep, typical. The media puts out headlines to trash her (’quitting’ her bus tour), and the usual message-board scumbags use it as an excuse to pile on. All the while, she’s up in her home state fulfilling her civic duty.
I’m pretty much to the point that nothing could cheer me more than the sight of these media slugs all hanging by their necks from lampposts, from coast to coast. God knows they richly deserve such a fate.

Palin confirmed that she’s going to Boston after New York and that after the northeast, SHE’LL GO BACK TO ALASKA BEFORE RE-LAUNCHING THE TOUR - called the “One Nation Tour,” after all - on the West Coast.
She told ABC News about her plans after she leaves the northeast:
“Go back to Alaska - in fact today, Willow [the middle Palin daughter] already had to get back to work so she had to leave - go back to Alaska, come back on the trail again, and take the tour west as the summer progresses.”
Asked if she’ll go all over the country, Palin said, “that is our plan, our tentative plan, anyway.”
Also....she’s been called up for jury duty.....AND IF YOU THOUGHT THE OJ TRIAL WAS A CIRCUS!!!!
It would definitely be a first, as far as I know, if she were to actually sit on a jury in Alaska. Wonder if she’d be named jury foreman? Is there any reason why she wouldn’t pass the selection process other than it would create a media circus full of slobbering journalists from all over the world, waiting and baiting for scraps of info? On the basis of what, except the usual , uh, “bias” perceived by one side and agreed to by the other, would she be deemed unacceptable?I hate to even BEGIN to think about the media coverage no matter whether she was part of a unanimous verdict, or was the lone holdout out of principle.

She will be dismissed because of her well known status and political standing. Either side could use that against the ruling independent of the outcome of this trial.
Her kids are great and I can't wait for Trig to see his sister Piper take her oath of office. But we can't afford for the mom to sit this one out. Remember who is in there right now!!

Anyways, my comment was more directed more at a general impatience. I don’t see how it benefits the campaign against Obama to go another Bus tour. I think a campaign tour would be much more effective.

Yes I do know how jury duty works and I get mad as H*ll when people people jump to conclusions when they clearly don’t know what they are talking about, in fact in Alaska you get called for jury duty for a month...you are assigned a number and have to call in daily....sometimes you are just called but ‘not picked’, and still must call in daily.....

Maybe up on the North Slope, but in Anchorage or Mat-Su you are only in the panel for 5 days.

They keep you sitting there, for hour after hour, until/if you get called for jury selection and then it's even more waiting!
And for those of you who claim that she could get out of it, not so! Many states have now disavowed allowing mothers with young children from getting out of serving.........even if you don't have any family, frinds, or nanny ( not so in her case )to care for the child/children in question. About the only "legal"excuse, is a severe health problem, that you have to jump through hoops to get.

Rest assured that Sarah going to run, at least that seems to be her intentions right now. I think she's playing this very smart. She purposely stays on the peripheral just enough to let her base know, among others, but not enough to get entangled with the current pool of candidates, because history has shown that those early candidates (at least most of them) do not do very well in the long term. The risk far outweighs the benefit if you already have name recognition.
Personally, I think she is sharp enough to understand that the momentum of the voter is what is important here strategically. What I mean by that is, the average voter hasn't become emotionally involved in the race yet. The voters momentum hasn't caught up to the candidates momentum, and when that starts to happen, that is when she will officially announce. At the right time, and not a day sooner or later.
Now, that voter momentum could happen anytime between the middle of summer and next spring, but when it happens, she will be there to throw her hat in the ring, of this I have no doubt.
EVERY conservative group or compny got audited by the IRS while Clinton was President....EVERY ONE OF THEM!! Coinky dink?? I think not.

And if you’re concerned its taking attention from candidates, perhaps you should be more concerned that those candidates can’t generate appeal to be newsworthy.
