Palin says she was doing her civic duty (Has jury duty)
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer / The Politico ^ | June 22, 2011

Via POLITICO's Juana Summers, Sarah Palin is throwing water on reports she'd ditched her "One Nation" bus tour, with a Facebook post saying she will be performing her civic duty:

"As I said myself at the end of the east coast leg of the tour, the summer is long, and I'm looking forward to hitting the open road again. The coming weeks are tight because civic duty calls (like most everyone else, even former governors get called up for jury duty) and I look forward to doing my part just like every other Alaskan."

She will be dismissed because of her well known status and political standing. Either side could use that against the ruling independent of the outcome of this trial.

Her kids are great and I can't wait for Trig to see his sister Piper take her oath of office. But we can't afford for the mom to sit this one out. Remember who is in there right now!!

I’m sure it was ‘random selection’ that got her on the jury

Kind of like the random selection the IRS uses and just happens to select Rush every year

She’s on freaking jury duty. she can’t do anything being tied down anyway waiting on a call form the courts!! what’s your problem?

I don’t have a problem. I’m just growing impatient. I doubt she’s “tied down waiting on a call from the courts.” Do you have any idea how jury duty works? I doubt it takes any more than 2 or 3 hours out of her life.

Anyways, my comment was more directed more at a general impatience. I don’t see how it benefits the campaign against Obama to go another Bus tour. I think a campaign tour would be much more effective.

Growing impatient because she isn’t meeting YOUR time table? Wow. Sounds like the MSM.

And they wonder why Palin supporters think the press is a bunch of idiots, not her.

No, you’re wrong. Growing impatient because I think the bus tour, while great the first time around, would just be a side-show the 2nd time around, and 3rd time around. It’s never a good thing to overdo something and I think a 2nd and 3rd leg would just be overkill. It would just get the focus off Obama, which isn’t good IMO. I think with 90% of the candidates in the race it’s time to focus on beating Obama. It would be great if Sarah could have a campaign tour rather than a bus tour. Basically if she wants to wait until November fine, but please no more bus tours taking the focus off Barack Ofailure.

Yes I do know how jury duty works and I get mad as H*ll when people people jump to conclusions when they clearly don’t know what they are talking about, in fact in Alaska you get called for jury duty for a month...you are assigned a number and have to call in daily....sometimes you are just called but ‘not picked’, and still must call in daily.....

I will admit I didn’t know that. That’s pretty crazy. But I still don’t have a problem thank you.

Maybe up on the North Slope, but in Anchorage or Mat-Su you are only in the panel for 5 days.

Two or three hours?

ARE YOU SERIOUS ?

They keep you sitting there, for hour after hour, until/if you get called for jury selection and then it's even more waiting!

And for those of you who claim that she could get out of it, not so! Many states have now disavowed allowing mothers with young children from getting out of serving.........even if you don't have any family, frinds, or nanny ( not so in her case )to care for the child/children in question. About the only "legal"excuse, is a severe health problem, that you have to jump through hoops to get.

3 weeks ago I thought she was definitely running, now I’m 50/50 on it. It feels like she’s losing momentum honestly. I wish she’d announce tomorrow.

Rest assured that Sarah going to run, at least that seems to be her intentions right now. I think she's playing this very smart. She purposely stays on the peripheral just enough to let her base know, among others, but not enough to get entangled with the current pool of candidates, because history has shown that those early candidates (at least most of them) do not do very well in the long term. The risk far outweighs the benefit if you already have name recognition.

Personally, I think she is sharp enough to understand that the momentum of the voter is what is important here strategically. What I mean by that is, the average voter hasn't become emotionally involved in the race yet. The voters momentum hasn't caught up to the candidates momentum, and when that starts to happen, that is when she will officially announce. At the right time, and not a day sooner or later.

Now, that voter momentum could happen anytime between the middle of summer and next spring, but when it happens, she will be there to throw her hat in the ring, of this I have no doubt.

Did it ever occur to you that perhaps Palin is using the bus tour as a means of deciding whether or not to run? As for sideshow, once again, that is created and pushed by the MSM. And if you’re concerned its taking attention from candidates, perhaps you should be more concerned that those candidates can’t generate appeal to be newsworthy.
