Poll: Obama would beat Perry (& Palin) in Texas — but lose to Ron Paul & other Republicans (PPP)

Will the Lone Star state turn blue in 2012?

It isn’t likely — unless Gov. Rick Perry jumps in the ring and clinches the Republican nomination, a new poll from the Public Policy Polling group found.

In the poll’s match-ups, President Barack Obama loses Texas to every notable Republican except Perry and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. If the ballot came down to Perry and Obama, 47 percent of poll respondents said they would vote for Obama. Forty-five percent said they would cast a ballot for Perry.

The most elected Republican in the poll? Mitt Romney.

The poll found that Obama would garner 42 percent of the Texas vote to 50 percent for the former Massachusetts governor. The president trailed Texas Rep. Ron Paul, R-Lake Jackson, by 5 percentage points, 40 percent to 45 percent.

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann leads in Texas, 47 percent to Obama’s 44 percent. Obama also loses to former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty by 1 percentage point.

Obama would beat out Palin for the state with 46 percent of respondents casting a ballot for his second term and 44 percent voting for Palin.....

“I don’t think Obama could beat ANYBODY in TX.”

Agreed. Chopped liver would beat him 2-1.

Let’s see, Texas went to McCain and Palin in 2008. So now that they’ve had a good look at Obama’s accomplishments, they are so thrilled that they would prefer him over another Republican. Yep. I got it.

I understand that Texas is weathering the recession better than most states, but, seriously, who would attribute that to 0bama?

Maybe that's why they want 0bama -- so they can get what the other 49 states are losing.

Gotta love the bias at work here - “Hey Republicans - Mitt Romney is your best guy! Look - he does better than the incumbent Perry in Perry’s own state!” What a load.

The mainstream media continues to try to force RINOs down our throats, knowing darn well that they’ll savage ANY challenger to the Marxist Obama. Please give me a REAL alternative - we need the Reagan to Carter. I’m painfully aware that the stakes are WAY higher than back then. Four more years of Obamanomics is going to do me in.

The Houston Chronicle is no better than the Washington Compost or the NY Slimes. Down here we refer to it as the Houston Comical or the Houston Barnacle. No one takes it seriously and very few people take it anymore. The Houston Post was the “conservative” paper before it went out of business a long time ago.

I doubt Obama would get more than 12% of the vote in Texas. Against anybody.

All the so-called "losers" are within the margin of error. Another misleading headline to hurt Gov. Palin and help Gov. Romney

Look, Vet, it is time to start concentrating on defeating Romney in the primaries and then defeating Obama in the general election. It is time to put the Sarah Palin fantasy to rest.

The most recent Fox News Poll just came out:

FOX News Polll .... For Release 6PM ET Wednesday, June 29, 2011

Among REPUBLICAN primary voters, the preferences are as follows:

Mitt Romney ..... 18%
Rick Perry ..... 13%
Michele Bachmann ..... 11%
Rudy Giuliani ..... 10%
Sarah Palin ..... 8%
Ron Paul ..... 7%
Herman Cain ..... 5%
Tim Pawlenty ..... 3%

Sarah Palin is in single digit territory. .... One percentage point above Ron Paul.

The only conservative that has a very good chance of beating Romney and then beating Obama is currently Governor Rick Perry. In electability, he is light-years ahead of Michelle Bachmann (no executive experience) with ten and a half years of experience as the Governor of the second most populous State in the Union.

Not only that, Sarah Palin "really likes" him:

MAY 31, 2011 .... Palin plugs Perry: "I really like him" .... Unprompted, Sarah Palin brought up Rick Perry's name yesterday as a strong presidential candidate. "I think he would be a fine candidate.... we have a lot in common. I really like him.

Governor Sarah Palin's Endorsement of Governor Rick Perry

"That's why I am supporting Governor Rick Perry for re-election. He does what is right regardless of whether it is popular. He walks the walk of a true conservative. And he sticks to his guns – and you know how I feel about guns!" ...... Sarah Palin, January 17, 2009

Sarah Palin seems to be very happy as a motivational speaker, with her books and with her entertainment projects with Bristol.

Sarah Palin shows no evidence of wanting to get back to political office:

"I'd rather be doing this than be in some stuffy old political office," ..... trailer for "Sarah Palin's Alaska"

It is time to start thinking beyond Sarah. Sarah is happy where she is.

The most conservative candidate out there that can actually beat Obama in November 2012 just happens to be the candidate that Sarah Palin "really likes".

I don’t think Obama could beat ANYBODY in TX.

The poll is pure propaganda and is a certain lie.

Back during the last election, Barry's popularity was off the charts high as everyone, including the GOP campaign was gushing over how Messianic Barry was. This was when the GOP was running that utterly worthless DIABLO* Juan McCain.

AND BARRY LOST TO MCCAIN IN TEXAS

Barry is universally hated now, especially in Texas because Barry has deliberately sought out to economically devastate this State. Rick Perry easily won the primary over popular congresscritter Kay Bay and walked away with the election against a popular Democratic candidate even though most conservative Texans had to hold their nose while at the polling site.

*Democrat In All But Label Only

If we have to rely on the margin of error to carry Texas with Perry and Palin we are in big trouble. That said, ANY poll now is absolutely meaningless.

Texas is changing because of the massive influx of people from states like Illinois, California and Massachusetts in addition to the so called undocumented folk some of which turn legal or squeeze out a baby while here illegally. Texas is literally being over run by people looking for jobs or a lower cost alternative where they can actually afford a home, car, where you don't have bums on every corner etc......

Unfortunately, many of these people moving to Texas don't ever ask themselves “why” it's like that here in Texas and “why” their home state is so screwed up. Instead they embrace exactly those socioeconomic ideas that led to the demise of the place they came from. They're locusts and though politically incorrect to call them such in public, that is exactly what they are. That is what locusts do, eat the area dead and move on.

Actually Texas is turning more blue and it has to do with simple demographics. Texas will become a victim of her success!

Don’t worry, we are not in danger of Texas choosing a second term of Obama over Palin or Perry.
