Will the Lone Star state turn blue in 2012?
It isnt likely unless Gov. Rick Perry jumps in the ring and clinches the Republican nomination, a new poll from the Public Policy Polling group found.
In the polls match-ups, President Barack Obama loses Texas to every notable Republican except Perry and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. If the ballot came down to Perry and Obama, 47 percent of poll respondents said they would vote for Obama. Forty-five percent said they would cast a ballot for Perry.
The most elected Republican in the poll? Mitt Romney.
The poll found that Obama would garner 42 percent of the Texas vote to 50 percent for the former Massachusetts governor. The president trailed Texas Rep. Ron Paul, R-Lake Jackson, by 5 percentage points, 40 percent to 45 percent.
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann leads in Texas, 47 percent to Obamas 44 percent. Obama also loses to former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty by 1 percentage point.
Obama would beat out Palin for the state with 46 percent of respondents casting a ballot for his second term and 44 percent voting for Palin.....

Yeah, that might helped that d1ck win Texas by the margin of error.
Pollsters may be the only profession that is more dishonest than journalists. Tell them what result you want and they will create a sampling and word the questions in a way to give the result the client wants.
No one believes this poll. Perry just beat Bill White last November and White is far more reasonable and acceptable than Obama.

And I don't have a dog..........
You do realize that this is the commiecrat rag out of Houston and is about as relevant to Texas votes as a piss ant mound....lol
Agreed!
Beware, fraudsters will be dealt with to the fullest extinct.
Don’t mess with Texas!
Yep, I doubt that Sarah is committing to the run.
She’s good at what she’s doing right now and the senate might
be the place to go first. But if she does run I’m there for her...and Perry.
I’m already wondering who will take Perry’s place as governor.
You are about to be Romneytized by the GOP. How bout that Ron Paul. I think we need to get a radical in the Executive Branch. The normal nomination process compromises any Republican candidate.
PPP polls are entirely worthless.
Texas’s favorite Republican is a northeastern liberal; sure, why not?
I call Bravo Sierra on the Chron pole. Wile E. Obama stands no better chance against Rick Perry than did Wile E. Coyote.
Yeah, this is why this poll is laughable. As much as the MSM and the administration wants us to believe Obama is unbeatable, it’s actually the exact opposite. I don’t see any signs where conditions will be favorable for Obama next fall but of course things could change. That said, a strong GOP candidate has the potential to absolutely crush President Gutsy Call in the general.
Still, we must unite around our candidate and run like we’re 20 pts behind at all times.
I don’t believe anything coming from the Houston newspaper, which is a highly liberal bastion. Texas is a pretty conservative state, and I doubt Obama could beat Rick Perry in any contest.
No kidding...the other day I went to get a haircut. My stylist was a young single Hispanic woman. Suddenly, obamao comes on the TV...and my stylist - who I would have laid 100-1 odds would be pro-obamao - starts ripping him apart!
And this is in Travis County!
I kind of like these polls, because they really do measure electability from candidate to candidate pretty well.
It doesn’t really measure Obama vs Republican Candidate with any specificity. The sample could be way off.
But it does answer “which is best against Obama”.
Here
Romney over Obama by 8
Paul over Obama by 5
Bachmann over Obama by 3
Pawlenty over Obama by 1
Obama over Palin by 2
Obama over Perry by 2
Romney | 3 | Paul | 2 | Bachmann | 2 | Pawlenty | 3 | Palin/Perry
most electable to least electable left to right.
I stand corrected. :-) The primaries too are vitally important.
I watch very little MSM.
Are they really pretending Obama is unbeatable?
Creamed in 2010, the economy still sucks. Unless there’s a huge improvement in the economy, the Republicans win.
Yes, outside of Free-Republic and the conservative blogs. Even conservative-minded friends of mine believe he’s a shoe it based upon the ‘poor’ selection of candidates.
I’ve been telling anyone that will listen that Barry is toast and what we’re really talking about is the Senate and holding the Congress. The repubs aren’t really doing themselves any favors by being wishy-washy in treating Obama with kid gloves.
Yes, the MSM is still pushing the meme that the election has already been decided for Obama. Case in point is this PPP ‘poll,’ the Axelrod/Soros drones are working overtime to sew disenfranchisement. They point to the election in NY-23 as the evidence...
