Rick Perry Accuses Obama Of Leaving Astronauts To "Hitchhike Into Space"
http://blogs.abcnews.com/ ^ | July 21, 2011 | ABC News Michael Falcone

As America bids farewell to the space shuttle era on Thursday, likely presidential candidate Rick Perry appears none too pleased with the Obama administration, accusing the president of “leaving American astronauts with no alternative but to hitchhike into space.”

In a sharply worded statement issued by the governor of Texas -- the state is home to the Johnson Space Center -- Perry charges that the Obama Administration “continues to lead federal agencies and programs astray, this time forcing NASA away from its original purpose of space exploration, and ignoring its groundbreaking past and enormous future potential.”

I’m glad someone is telling why the space program is ending. One of the 1st things he did and I hear nothing about this is because of Obama. Makes me really angry! So I’m happy someone is telling it like it is.

While nothing in the Constitution mandates a space program, NASA (before it was politicized) created tech that has generated literally trillion of dollars of wealth in the US. Not only that, but space is now a front line in any future war with any real power. Not having space capabilities is a national defense risk of the highest order.

But OK, opt out of the benefits NASA tech has created. BTW, that means throw out your computer, never use GPS, toss your cell phone, and refuse use of most plastics if you go to the hospital.

There are places to cut. This isn’t one - at least if NASA is brought back to its real goal, space (as opposed to muslime multicult garbage and AGW junk science).

Obama destroys the space program and is going to withhold SS checks from our seniors, but he makes sure his muzzie bros are well taken care of:

BILLIONS FOR JIHAD!

Obama’s 2009 Supplemental Appropriations for Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Pandemic Flu was revised and “passed by the full committee.”
It gives billions http://creepingsharia.wordpress.com/2009/05/13/obamas-supplemental-bill-passes-gives-billions-to-enemies/
of U.S. taxpayer dollars to countries and entities that support Sharia law and/or harbor, hide and support those who want to destroy the U.S. and our allies.
Read the summary from David Obey’s office that was quietly released last week with nary a word from any media.

• $3.6 billion, matching the request, to expand and improve capabilities of the Afghan security forces

• $400 million, as requested, to build the counterinsurgency capabilities of the Pakistani security forces

• Afghanistan: $1.52 billion, $86 million above the request

• West Bank and Gaza: $665 million in bilateral economic, humanitarian, and security assistance for the West Bank and Gaza

• Jordan: $250 million, $250 million above the request, including $100 million for economic and $150 million for security assistance

• Egypt: $360 million, $310 million above the request, including $50 million for economic assistance, $50 million for border security, and $260 million for security assistance

• Pakistan: $1.9 billion, $591 million above the request

• Iraq: $968 million, $336 million above the request

• Oversight: $20 million, $13 million above the request, to expand oversight capacity of the State Department, USAID, and the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan to review programs in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq
• Lebanon: $74 million

• International Food Assistance: $500 million, $200 million above the request, for PL 480 international food assistance to alleviate suffering during the global economic crisis

• Refugee Assistance: $343 million, $50 million above the request, …including humanitarian assistance for Gaza. Funding for the UN Relief and Works Agency programs in the West Bank and Gaza is limited to $119 million (Note: Gaza = Hamas)

• Disaster Assistance: $200 million to avert famines and provide life-saving assistance during natural disasters and for internally displaced people around the world, including Somalia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, the Middle East and South Asia

•Peacekeeping: $837 million for United Nations
peacekeeping operations, including an expanded mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and a new mission in Chad and the Central African Republic

• Department of Justice: $17 million, matching the request, for counter-terrorism activities and to provide training and assistance for the Iraqi criminal justice system
The mainstream media remains silent on this but the International News has now picked up the story http://www.thenews.com.pk/top_story_detail.asp?Id=22164
— and then there is Obama’s $108 billion IMF bailout scheme http://michellemalkin.com/2009/05/13/obamas-100-billion-imf-bailout-scheme/
in addition to the Supplemental.
And THIS is what Obama is doing to American taxpayers:
THE BIGGEST TAX HIKE IN AMERICAN HISTORY:

PDF Version:

Obama gives your tax dollars to rebuild Muslim mosques around the world
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/26990#

ACCORDING TO THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION WILL GIVE AWAY NEARLY $6 MILLION OF AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS TO RESTORE 63 HISTORIC AND CULTURAL SITES, INCLUDING ISLAMIC MOSQUES AND MINARETS, IN 55 NATIONS. See the State Department document here.

Of course our space program is not in the Constitution, but it was something Americans were proud of and has contributed to many things that have improved our everyday life, such as the satellites that help with weather forecasting, i.e. hurricanes, just one of many benefits which I don't know how you can put a price tag on. Obama isn't proud of this country and this is just another way of bringing us down another peg, IMO.

I also think you're one hell of an SOB and your reply is totally ignorant. BTW, after reading your profile, I'm still working in DoD, so I can say stuff it! My comment has nothing to do with big gov't. Satellites have probably been some of the better spent money than all the other waste that our goes into some black hole.

Where on Earth does it say in the Constitution that we need a space program?

...provide for the common defense...

Space is the ultimate 'high ground', and satellite tracking enables us to be aware of the actions of our enemies long before we would be able to otherwise. It also enables us to position our military assets and to deploy them with far greater efficiency, especially strategic weapons should the need arise.

The civillian space program provided a test bed for much of the hardware and has never been completely divorced from military efforts.

When you need a serviceable tool such as a saw, which is worse - no saw, or a junk one that cant’ cut and is actually dangerous to use? Better to have no saw so you look and find one that works.

Having Repubs but useless ones is worse than none at all.

That my friend is the “TICKET”...to restore America to it’s greatness.....as Winston Churchill once said something to the effect: Americans finally get it right after they have exhausted all other choices! Perry and Palin would be getting it right in my humble opinion.. Four or eight years for Perry and then eight for the young lady....leading America back to greatness after this four year fiasco. Hell it will take half that time to get the stench out of the peoples house! Note to fat @ss lazy folks with food stamp cards riding around in self propelled buggies at the wallyworlds of America......NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN...will slim you down...no more free groceries....no workee, no eatee..compredee

Honestly, I think ANY & ALL foreign aid payments should be (at least) temporarily halted due to our economic situation. THAT is where the cuts should have been made - FIRST! ALL JMHO. Forget withholding Social Security, and destroying one of the institutions that makes us leaders in our world in regards to science, invention, and exploration... If you can’t pay your bills you shouldn’t be giving all your money away to charities — you can’t help others unless you help yourself first!
