ATLANTA, Ga. -- Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich has boasted about his 1.3 million-strong following on Twitter, but a report out Monday suggested a majority of his virtual flock is fake.
"I have six times as many Twitter followers as all the other candidates combined," Gingrich told the Marietta Daily Journal in an interview published Sunday. He was discussing a Politico report that chalked up the former House Speaker's Twitter success -- he has more than twice as many followers as the social media-savvy Sarah Palin -- to his "personal touch" since he "tweets and manages his Twitter feed himself."

I kind of doubted this story until I went to look at who his followers are. I’m more convinced now.
I’m not a Newt fan but I find it extremely weird that the Gawkers never checked to see how many of their boy’s followers are fake. I’d be willing to bet it’s around 80%.

I hate to tell you how much of an increase I got in online sales in my business using Twitter and Facebook.
Many (more than I have ever seen)have no photo just the Twitter default pic. That's odd.

Another thing I noticed. I quickly chose at random 4 of his followers with the default pic and neither of them ever posted anything. 0 Tweets.

Listen to this one. My mom who is 76 cant get off Facebook. We have a friend named Ernest Smith. He lives in the same state as us. My brother’s mother-in-law also on FB made friends with him too and now they go to church together.
I thought this man was probably 70 and found out he’s 93!

We’re all getting old. I remember when WW1 vets were the age of my mom who’s in her mid 70s. Now they are all gone.

It's very telling. The more I think about it. I heard the WH does something similar. They have fakes posting on conservative forums.
I don’t see how anyone can come to the conclusion that Newt would garner anything more than 1-2% of the popular vote. OTOH, I guess there is a majority of people who believe that Juan McCain can feed himself his own oatmeal, so WTF do I know?

The only problem I have is I’m a “friend” of a couple of my grandchildren and I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut about some of their posts. I do keep my thoughts to myself though,or they’ll “unfriend” me. LOL

I don't blame you there. I use Twitter for business only. I really could not get into Twitter for anything personal like I do for Facebook. Truthfully, I love Facebook and cant get into Twitter either.

I will say that most of his Facebook fans are from outside of the country. I noticed that while he was still running for President.

No wonder his campaign is in debt. Between this, Tiffanys, and his entire campaign staff quitting due to mismanagement, every day there’s a new reason to keep him away from this nation’s pocketbook. I never did understand why people thought Newt was so smart, when all he ever seems to do is make mistakes. Big, obvious, embarrassing ones.

I thank god everyday that my mother and computers just don’t go well. But the phone? That’s another story.
I have no social accounts myself. Not really interested to have people I didn’t care for much in high school asking me how is life. And I know they do because my little brother is on FB and they ask about me.
I’ve been keeping up with my real friends even back to the old days of bulletin boards and baud rate modems! Of course after walking three miles in the snow up hill.
He’s a good policy wonk when talking (like a professor) but doesn’t have a clue how to actually do it (those that can’t teach).
