I’ve got friends in Texas and they Detest this faux conservative.

You sound like the NY liberals after Nixon won - they were all confused, because no one they knew voted for him!

I think your experience is more likely the result of having like-minded friends, and less a valid experssion of the opinion of the average Texan...

Never heard anyone call themselves an ex-Texan before. Wow.

Kinda like going overseas and someone asking where you are from. If you say the US, USA, or something similar you may get an inquisitive look. But say Texas and they'll nod in the affirmative and maybe even smile.

I have friends in Texas who love the guy, and are excited to GOTV for him.

See how that works?

Those that know Perry are supporting Romney. Those that know Romney are supporting Perry!

Well, SOME who say they know Perry are supporting Romney - but many who know Perry are supporting Perry.

Like many others, he might be voting conservative in 2012, even if they have to write them in.

Everything is just a smoke screen....the bottom line is jobs, jobs, jobs, and the economy, economy, economy....Rick Perry has continued and bettered the environment for jobs and the economy in Texas...the rest is smoke and mirrors.....Americans do not give a hoot about the rest of the garbage...it’s jobs and the economy stupid...that’s the bottom line....

Yep out of 25 million or so Texans you’ll find them all over the political landscape. Witness the 06 governors race but that doesn’t mean they’ll abandon Perry when it becomes time to fish or cut bait especially if it is against Obama.

As a Texan I have serious reservations about Perry. He seems all to comfortable using the government to achieve what he believes are desireable ends. That said, I believe that he can be controlled by conservatives and I would vote for him in the general if he wins the primary.

Currently my favorite candidate is Bachmann but all bets are off if Sarah enters the contest. Huntsman and Romney I will not vote for under any circumstances, period. I held my nose and voted McCain and have regretted it ever since.

Well, I live in Texas and I like Governor Perry as do many other Texans. Is he perfect? No. but does know how to win and this Republican state keeps on electing him. Must be doing something right!

I’m guessing both your friends are ‘residents’ in Huntsville?

As I would tell my kids when they continue a rumor about someone, maybe you should find out for yourself instead of just repeating what others say.

I consider myself a Texan, but there are quite a few in my family that don’t consider me one, especially since I married a Californian and have lived in California for many years.

How well do you think Perry will do against hostile MSM interviewers? Can he think on his feet?

I would probably pick Romney over Perry, and I’m not a big Romney fan.

Yikes! That does not bode well for Perry at all, in my opinion anyway, as Romney to me represents the bottom of the barrel. I do agree with you that Bachmann and Cain outshine Perry.
