Is Sarah Palin going to announce she's running for president on September 3?
The Christian Science Monitor ^ | August 20, 2011 | Peter Greier

Sarah Palin will run for president, and will announce her candidacy sometime around Labor Day – perhaps September 3, when she’s scheduled to address a big Tea Party event in Iowa.

That’s what former Bush administration political advisor and all-around GOP smart guy Karl Rove predicts, anyway. In an appearance on Fox News Saturday he said he believes ex-Alaska governor Palin is going to run, in part because of a slick campaign-style video about her trip to the Iowa State Fair released by her PAC last week, and in part because of where she’s popping up.

Palin “has a schedule next week that looks like that of a candidate, not a celebrity,” said Rove.

Rove's not Nostradamus – he's been wrong about stuff before. Still, it's possible he's right, and that months – nay, years – of feverish media speculation are about to end. Will Palin finally say once and for all that she’s in it to win it – the brass ring of the presidency, that is?

Could be. At the least, it looks like she is fast approaching a make-or-break date, when she will either have to announce, or announce that she is not going to announce a run, lest her coyness exhaust the patience of her faithful.....

It’s hard to say if she’s going to get in this year. I hope she does, but will happily vote for Bachmann in the meantime!

She’s the keynote speaker. She IS the spotlight.

If she runs I suspect the RINO faction to go into full meldown mode.

It will be glorious.

They will contort themselves to try to convince us that Sarah has no chance of winning.

If remains a “kingmaker” there’s no reason to be a thorn in 0bama’s side because he won’t be in the WH anymore.

That’s the spirit! She’s not running! She won’t ever run. Nope. Never, ever, never, ever. Why is everyone getting their hopes up that she’s gonna run the country?

Someone is going to have to get it through the thick skulls of those pro-Palin FReeprs that she’s only going to sit in the back seat and let RINOs run instead of Conservatives.

Come on fellow anti-Palin FReepers and join with me by saying,

“OH NO SHE WON’T!” and “NO SHE CAN’T!” very loudly!
(Anyone have a Spanish translation for those?)

We need more pessimism here. Seriously! If she runs and wins all of the anti-Palin FReepers need to book a one way ticket to a place brimming with lots of pessimism - Haiti!

LOL!

Maybe we should have a betting pool on what date she’ll choose to run.

It probably has nothing to do with her new video or schedule. A guy as high up on the political food chain as Karl Rove is going to hear a lot of the rumors and information flowing in & out of all the campaigns.

I posted this in a vanity just after the 2010 elections.

Let's look again at the races, and about recent history. We can look at the performances of the Establishment Republicans (say, in recent elections), and drill down a bit on this election.

In past elections, (say 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008) we had the following:

2002 -- a year after the 9-11 attacks, and Americans want security, dammit! The GOP gains 8 seats in the House and 2 in the Senate.

2004 -- Presidential Election; the first one after the "Sore Loserman" debacle in Florida in 2000, and the first one after 9-11.

The GOP picks up 3 seats in the House, the Donks lose 2.

The GOP picks up 4 Senate seats, the Donks lose 4.

Bush wins 31 states, but a mere 286 electoral votes, with a bare 50.7% of the popular vote.

2006 -- the Midterm elections for Bush's second term.

The Dems pick up the House, gaining 31 seats, while the GOP loses 30.

The Dems get the Senate, too, winning 6 seats.

This despite the presence of "The Architect" Karl Rove who brags about his detailed knowledge of the ground game.

But (as we will see) he learned his lesson, after a fashion.

2008 -- the annointing of Teh One.

Obama wins 365 electoral votes in 28 states + a single Congressional district in Nebraska. (Nebraska??!!)

The Donks extend their lead in the House, gaining 21 seats.

And in the Senate, they run the table, gaining 8 seats.

The election is marked by numerous unchallenged shenanigans, including voter fraud (voting by felons, votes found in car trunks) in Minnesota, and infamous re-counts in Washington State.

The only thing preventing a total rout is Sarah Palin, who is roundly condemned by the establishment, but targeted by the Dems, after being trashed by advisors lent by the Rockefeller wing of the GOP (as detailed later in Going Rogue).

So, let's look at the record of the Establishment GOP since the first election of George W. Bush (where the victory was so narrow that the Dems complained he was "selected, not elected." (And that, over Clinton's hand-picked successor.)

House: +8 +3 -30 -21 net --> -40
Senate: +2 +4 -6 -8 net --> -8
Heckuva job, Karl.

Compare that to the Tea Parties:

House: +65
Senate: +6

I'm still thinking around September 15. After the Iowa 9/3 event, after 9/11 (out of respect for the 10th Anniversary), maybe at or soon after the 9/12 debates. . We'll see. . And yes, this is a Movement to Restore America!
