'President of Tea Pary America'
The Politico ^ | September 5, 2011 | Maggie Haberman

A fresh Ben dispatch on Sarah Palin:

Sarah Palin all but declared her candidacy for President of Tea Party America here Monday, focusing her address to a crowd of more than a thousand conservatives on the future of the movement itself.

With a yellow “Don’t Tread on Me” flag flying behind her, Palin did not hint either at a White House candidacy or an endorsement of any of the GOP’s current crop of candidates. Instead, she seemed to focus on establishing herself and the tea party as a freestanding force in a Republican Party whose presidential candidates threaten to sap the energy from the organized, outside movement.

“The tea party movement is bigger than any one person and it’s not about any one candidate, and thank goodness we don’t have any one single leader,” Palin said.

“We patriots should not focus on petty political squabbles and media game sound-bites,” Palin said, calling instead for a focus on the “broader and more important goals of this movement” — to “replace Obama and return power back to we the people and grow this movement without compromising principles.”

Palin’s speech followed an Iowa address that was more closely focused on national policy and which renewed speculation that she could enter the 2012 race....

The longer she delays announcing her candidacy, the longer she keeps the ruling-class RINOs, state-controlled media, DemocRAT and Republican opponents, etc. in complete and total disarray.

Why should she give up her strategic advantage?

To make it "fair" for the RINOs and 'Rats?

Palin is coming, and the Tea Party is coming with her.

ineluctable

"President of the Tea Party," indeed!

Liberal, leftist idiots keep trying to make the Tea Party into their own worldview.

the “founder” of the Tea Party is still obama...without this clown’s stupidity, the American people would not have woken up.

Vladimir: We'll hang ourselves tomorrow. Unless Godot comes.
Estragon: And if he comes?
Vladimir: We'll be saved.

I like Palin very much, and would happily vote for her should she win the nomination.

But at this point, it's almost getting silly to keep pretending she's going to be a candidate in this cycle.

She is so far behind in terms of assembling a high powered team, building a grass roots infrastructure, etc.

I know many people believe she can just awesome herself into contention, but I think the day has passed. A few months ago. Her endorsement of a primary candidate will be huge though.

The left has no real understanding of the TEA party because they are in thrall to centralized government and simply cannot comprehend ‘ordinary’ citizens banding together without a designated leader to change the government, peacefully, through the ballot box. The left worships ‘leaders’ and engage in groupthink so often that something as fundamental to Americans as ‘the TEA party’ doesn’t register with leftists. Their naive misunderstanding of a movement for a political party is amusing. That the left is constantly seeking to dub this or that politician a ‘leader of the TEA party’ demonstrates the futility of their thinking. This is why Sarah Palin is supported by many TEA party people. She gets it.

How do you know what she has and hasn’t been doing? Who’s she gonna tell? The press?

So you’ve never heard of the Tea Party movement, Organizing4Palin, Veterans4Palin, JewsforSarah or Conservatives4Palin, etc, etc.? How is that?

Who are they? Is it a secret infrastructure? With secret big name people on her team?

If the do exist, the media would love to know who they are, so they could tell us every controversial thing they've ever said or done.

Do you really think the media would play along with her construction of a secret political machine? Even with the old school GOP party clowns leaking everything they know? Or is she building a political machine with no big, experienced and talented political players?

The whole idea is a bit unlikely, to say the least.

Well "the Tea Party movement" is pretty vague and as far as I know, they are supporting a variety of people and have endorsed none. They can't "endorse" anybody since they don't speak with a united voice on individual candidates.

And I'm guessing the other groups combined must number in the hundreds ("Jews for Sarah"?! How many on the roster of that political organization?) Not much of an infrastructure in a nation of 300 million.

With secret big name people on her team?

If you listened to her, ever, you would know she is NOT going to use elitists and "insiders". Been there. Done that.

the media would love to know who they are,

I'm sure they would. Why would she tell them?

Do you really think the media would play along with her construction of a secret political machine?

You don't ever really listen, do you. She won't tell them ANYTHING. And she will NOT have ANYONE near her that would either. THEY ARE THE ENEMY!

On the serious side, dead, today is Labor Day, and in '08 President's Guiliani and Thompson were leading the polls. We know how that turned out.

Palin will delclare soon enough.
She wrote This today.

“I know many people believe she can just awesome herself into contention...”

That was well-said. Also, she’s not the president of the Tea Party. The tea party is well-served to NOT have a designated leader.

Did you read what the poster said?

“I like Palin very much, and would happily vote for her should she win the nomination.”

Why is it that Palin fans jump on anyone who expresses doubts or makes any statement that is less than “Sarah’s going to run and show she’s a Rhodes scholar and beat everyone rrrrraaaaawr.”

At this point, she needs to do something. It’s time. It feels like people are being strung along while she raises money.

Because they aren't listening to HER and keep passing around talking points as if they were original. They aren't.

At this point, she needs to do something.

Why? Because the press says so? Because they have ENDLESS stories about Palin being "coy" and the sheeple buy it?

Reagan announced in Nov and Clinton in Oct. Give it rest.
