Sarah Palin: Congress Rife With 'Entrenched Corruption'
NewsMax ^ | November 18, 2011 | David A. Patten

Former Alaska governor and GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin blasted rampant corruption in the marbled halls of Congress Friday, calling it an “endemic problem” affecting both parties.

“The only solution to entrenched corruption is sudden and relentless reform,” she wrote.

Palin’s remarks came in an op-ed column in The Wall Street Journal, in response to revelations this week that Congress has exempted itself from the prohibitions against insider trading that all other Americans are subject to.

Under current law, members of Congress are free to profit off of equity swings tied to pending legislative actions decisions they are privy to as members of Congress.

The Center for Responsive Politics has determined that 47 percent of all members of Congress are millionaires. This compares to about 1 percent of the population generally.

“How do politicians who arrive in Washington, D.C. as men and women of modest means leave as millionaires?” Palin asks in her column. “How do they miraculously accumulate wealth at a rate faster than the rest of us? How do politicians’ stock portfolios outperform even the best hedge fund managers?”

Palin’s answer: “Politicians derive power from the authority of their office and their access to our tax dollars, and they use that power to enrich and shield themselves.”(continued)

Why would the Wall Street Journal provide space to someone who's so obviously finished/washed-up/inconsequential?

Because they couldn't sell ad space?

The same reason Chelsea Clinton got hired. Name recognition.

Folks might be pointing and laughing, but the ratings are there.

Sarah is 100% right on!

Government corruption has crippled this country, Bureaucrats and Back Room Deals are literally Killings us, and the People aren't putting up with it no longer! We can roll it back the easy way or the hard way but either way it WILL be rolled back.

I agree with Sarah. I’ve never seen this much corruption in Congress in my life. Every one of those buffoons belong in prison. The greed we are seeing from all of the politicians indicates to me that they believe that America is going to collapse and they are trying to get all they can before it does.

Remind me which offices Chelsea Clinton ran for and won. The same goes for Miss Meghan McCain.

I just adore the "Barracuda". She has survived every assault, every callumny every threat to her safety and that of her family.

I do so hate those that have so threatened her life and her family both Republican Establishment and DemocRAT. Those people are EVIL and should be removed from the political process..................(if people get my true intent).

Why would I care? Nobody is worshiping Chelsea or Chaz or Charlie Sheen.

None of them jerked around their supporters so cruelly, though.

So I guess they have that going for them.

It's gotta suck when your Goddess lies to you.

Tell me how it sucks, I'm interested.

Palin speaks to my political/ideological/cultural beliefs more dead-center than any other leader out there. None other comes close. I hope she keeps the drumbeat going.
