Doesn’t matter. I think Newt can easily win both.

I agree and Obama will have a microphone in his ear telling him what to say.

I am not a Perry bot. I am a independent voter.I supported Gingrich but now see some red flags is all.I support all tea party candidates. The only way you could possibly ever accuse me of being anyone’s ‘bot’ would be if West ran.

I like West too, but he has to run through the rigor like everyone else.

“Newt’s numbers were very solid for way too long, based on strong support from the base who had accepted his past, but wanted his experience and Professional genius to fix this mess.

Nobody can convince me that in just 2 days, that he has dropped to this level in Iowa, based on RUN Paul attack ads. Wait for another week to see what reality is. I simply don’t but this for a minute. Nothing new has hit the media about Newt, at the level that hit Cain. This is absolutely a Media fabrication, similar to the one that launched Cain to the top for no good reason.

The MSM is flexing their propaganda muscles again. And the stupid Public is eager to take the bait.”

Yep. MSM including Drudge.

“You simply cannot see the forest because the trees got in your way. “

I could forgive Newt for his past issues if there is credible explanation (e.g. it was in the 1990’s) and change in recent years. His past support for fairness doctrine and gun grabbing bills are such examples. People make mistakes. Some people learn from mistakes, and in anycase, they may become more conservative over the years (Reagan did).

However, Newt has been getting more liberal over the years. It is not just one (or two or three) liberal issues which are concern for conservatives.

Since 2007 he has been constant opponent of conservatives. Remember his support for Dede in NY23 over conservative?
How about that “radical rightwing social engineer” line against Ryan? This is (along with OC opposition) the biggest conservative policy issue of the decade. In Obamacare, Newt has been supporting federal individual mandate. He has been applauding many aspects (”300 pages”) of Obamacare. He is for legalization of illegals which is exactly the opposite of what conservatives want.
I could go on and on.

He is progressive and always joining trendy liberal causes. I would guess it is an ego issue. He craves support from DC cocktail circles and young people.

In cost-benefit analysis, Newt is absolute wrong choice for conservatives. No different than Romney (apart from hair, religion, and style).

Besides, chances of scandal or personal collapse is a real for Newt. Bachmann may make occasional gaffes (similar to Obama), but I doubt any prostitute/mistress scandals emerge for her.

You say ya wanna Rebublicrat who's electable and not Newt, Paul, Romney, et. al.? Here ya go all you Republicrat perfectionists: Harold Stassen.

That's right, Harold Stassen. Stassen was the 12 time candidate for POTUS (1944-2000). However, Stassen died in 2001. Why can't we elect a dead man? Donkeys do it all the time! You cannot be any more perfect than when you are dead. People can't get a word out of you to offend them.

No, but they can say stuff like:
"Mr. Stassen does not condemn hateful rhetoric of Tea Party!"
"Mr. Stassen fails to participate in debate against Obama!"
"Mr. Stassen does not sign smaller government pledge!"
;)

I hope that was meant as sarcasm, other than his strong position against China and the vocal way he criticizes them, I am afraid Trump is all hair and gas.

The point I was making is that Newt is setting the bar so high for himself “he’ll mop the floor with Obama”, that if he doesn’t dismantile him in the first debate it’ll be spun by the media as an Obama win. Newt’s problem is his ego, which unfortunately will be his downfall. That, and once his dismall record as a “conservative” is exposed (immigration, global warming, health care mandates), he’s toast.

Best line I’ve heard, “he’s an exploding cigar waiting to be lit.”
