Posted on 12/25/2011 4:47:05 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet
Donald Trump delivered a special Christmas gift to editorial cartoonists, comedians and the late-night talk show hosts they write for when news broke Friday that The Donald is leaving the Grand Old Party to keep his options open for an independent Republican presidential bid in 2012.
This also, or course, would be a gift for the Democratic Party due to the loss of a juicy target like Herman Cain, the self-destruction of Michele Bachmann and the increasing marginalization of contenders like Ron Paul, John Huntsman and that guy from Texas who forgets things and falls asleep during debates.
Facing a Newt Gingrich or a Mitt Romney becomes ever-easier for the president when the birthers who think Barack Obama is our modern Manchurian Candidate have to decide whether to follow a candidate with at least one clue or rush like lemmings off a philosophical cliff behind a tea party flavor-of-the-week like Trump.
Every candidate needs a sidekick, and we have the perfect choice. Who has the scruffiness of a soccer mom and the lipstick of a pitbull, all wrapped up in the mystique that comes from living next to a biologically-dead lake in the wilds of urban Wasilla? Who has the experience of trekking down the national campaign trail, with the added benefit of several months as governor of an oil-producing state?
Donald Trump and Sarah Palin will be a dream team. They should be the next big Alaska-based reality show. More dirt than Gold Rush Alaska, more hard landings than Flying Wild Alaska and far more dangerous to Americas political future than The Deadliest Catch is to the boat crews its Discoverys Trump/Palin in 2012.
Pairing up a man who cant stop talking with a woman who mangles the English language as well as history its a natural choice and rife with possibilities. Will the Donald debate himself? Will Sarah read a newspaper and remember its name, much less the contents?
Please, Mr. Trump, the next Alaska tourism season will start just as your next season of The Apprentice ends. Its perfect timing. Extra attention never hurts Alaskas economy, and Palin can probably deliver whichever state she spends the most time in, unless that state is Alaska.
We appreciate your spirit of sharing, Mr. Trump. You are a guy whose lawyer says has pledged to use his personal wealth to level the playing field against incumbent Obama. (You might want to watch Citizen Kane, and then check the real history of William Randolph Hearst first, though. They say the smartest politicos use other peoples money.)
Should you take our sound advice, Mr. Trump, and take on our former governor, we caution you to also take a step Sen. John McCain apparently gave little attention to during his last run with Palin check her references.
The writing was mediocre. The humor was poor. The facts were inconsistent. The tone was mean. What was the point again?
The point is that some jerks had nothing better to do on Christmas that write and publish this drivel.
Don’t misunderstand, I was not slamming the poster. I was slamming the drivel itself. My question was what was the point of them publishing....
I wan not slamming the poster either.
No thanks to Donald Trump, who didn’t know the difference between Obama, Pelosi, and Reid in his 2010 support for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Apparently it worked like a charm on her too.
Drove her right out. How would you like a president like that?
Couple of strongly worded "frivolous" letters from the U.N. and poof!
Man up, Sarah! ;^)
Too bad she didn’t have “humblegunner” and his ilk there to pay her seven digit legal bills, then maybe she’d still be governor of Alaska, huh?
Whine all you like about the reasons for it.
It happened, and was made to happen by her enemies.
It was a defeat.
How was it not?
Come on everyone! Trump is never going to run for President. He is making noise for his Apprentice Show and pitching a book. The more he is in the news the more his brands retain their value. He can’t run. He has a contract with ABC that runs through May 2013, when his show ends. Now, unless we have a brokered convention the choices for President and Veep will be known around then. Also, about that time, Trump will have another book or he will be all over the airways extolling the success of his show(It’ll be #1 in its time slot), He will tell everyone how successful he was in writing the most read business book...Ehvuh(The Art of the Deal) and then he will tell you how “fabulous” his latest book is.
This will be interspersed with talk about Mara Lago(The most beautiful home in America), his gold courses and that he is a very good and competitive player(Anyone who plays at these places wants to come back in a “Have to” way. From there it will close about his casinos in AC, his fabulous properties around the world and talk will be about his latest building project(WhoreAldo! We build the most Beautiful properties in the Wohld!) IT’S YOOGE! A little smattering about his cash position and how he is buying properties....... Yada, Yada Yada.....
Trump is not running and has never been serious about the Presidency. Besides, anyone think he’d be chosen in a brokered convention?
Anyone? Baloney? Anyone?
So you blame the victims of 9/11, Pearl Harbor, the Holocaust, the Bataan Death March and the Obama economy too? Those are all “defeats” as you say.
"China, you're %&*#!"
I am glad to see you take time out from all the family fun, to post your usual drivel about a woman that has a little more class than you.
Oh, and pinging all your backup squad only underlines the weakness of your position.
If and when you feel able to defend your position by yourself
I’ll be happy to participate.
You’ve got to give him credit for getting millions of dollars of free publicity at the drop of a hat. Not many other businessmen could pull that off.
Did all of those victims, like Sarah Palin, quit their jobs right after being smeared by liberal lies, too?
I’m sorry, am I somehow misinformed?
She completed her term as Governor?
She was not driven out by frivolous lawsuits?
I don’t slight or begrudge Trump. He’s a great marketer.
Did I put a gun to your head and make you post on this thread? You are drawn like a moth to a flame to any and all Sarah Palin threads. What is it about her that drives you to such rage? Did she somehow personally offend you in some way? I seriously would like to know, so I at least would know where you are coming from.
I hope you enjoy your short stay with us. I’m no Nostradamus, but I predict you won’t be here when Baby New Year rolls around.
I just like to call it dumblegunner, cuz humble it ain’t, and dumb it is.
Please no. Please, please, I am begging you. Make the vision go away in my head...and especially in my poor ears.
Even when not running, Sarah Palin still lives rent free in the minds of liberal assholes.
Palin, yes. Trump, no. He’d never go for it anyway. The only person he wants over him is...well, right now, it’s Melania.
Just damn... You’re simply determined to reject the truth of why Palin resigned, aren’t you?
Even on Christmas Day, you can’t find a charitable bone in your body.
IMO, it won’t be the first time he has been shown the gate.
Or the 2nd or 3rd, I’d wager. Go look at his posts.
The bad guys ran her off. No?
Palin. Is. Not. Running. Nerd.
Palin. Is. Not. Running. Nerd.
Bite me, n00b.
Snarky and idiotic, but they would keep things interesting.
And by the way, I know I’m eventually going to sound like a broken record saying this. I don’t care, or rather I care a lot more about winning in 2012 than I care about sounding like a broken record:
If the declared field weren’t a bunch of stumblebums, Palin would well before now no longer have been an issue. But they are, and she is. Either put a boot up these guys’ butts and get them to step up their game, or get used to it.
(And by the way, Donald Trump is not a serious choice for the Republican nomination. Never was, never will be. That he’s treated otherwise this cycle is an even bigger condemnation of the field.)
Yep drivel, you have made it your mission to post your insults on every Palin thread.
Grow up, run for governor or something yourself. Come back after the election.
Careful, don’t get yourself ZOTted again, champ.
Humble, you're one of the most active members of Free Republic. There's no doubt in my mind that others have spelled out the minute details of Palin's battles with the frivolous lawsuits while she was Governor, to you, many times.
But since it's Christmas, I'll give you the thumbnail sketch once again.
Palin was essentially in an indefensible position, and was either going to stay put and die, or move to better ground from which to fight.
The law in Alaska did not allow for a Governor to utilize the resources of the state government to defend against ethics lawsuits. She had to obtain her own defense attorneys, and pay them out of her own pocket.
She did this for a while, and successfully fended off the first suits, but they kept on coming. No sooner would her attorneys get one thrown out, than another would emerge.
Not only were her legal bills climbing into the stratosphere because of these lawsuits, she and her staff were forced to spend the bulk of their working time going through files to supply documents and information to Palin's attorneys and the court. They were not getting the people's business done.
As to the spiraling costs involved with these lawsuits, it became apparent rather quickly that the Palin family would be driven into bankruptcy without some financial assistance. A legal fund was set up for this purpose, and private individuals began to donate to it. Her enemies weren't about to let her fight back fair and square, so they got a judge to declare that her legal defense fund was illegal, and that it could not be used to pay for her legal defense in these matters.
So there she was - essentially out of ammo, and pinned down in a death trap. Her enemies could continue firing on her with an endless number of frivolous suits, but she couldn't fight back against them.
Palin chose to do the only thing a rational person could - she resigned the office.
Now, if after reading all that, you still think that she should be condemned for making the choice she did, well....all I can say is, Merry Christmas.
There ya go!
If that would only put it to bed with him, but it won’t. Oh, well. Pour le encourager les autres.
This article is from The Juneau Empire. Juneau has always voted Democrat, by larger margins with each election. The reason is telling: most of the population are government employees, who naturally favor bigger government. People vote their pocketbook, sadly, not the best interests of their country. Each increase in the size of government compounds the problem.
Could they get any snarkier??? And how about their ignorance in writing “independent republican bid” - excuse me?
Show me where I claimed she was.
I know how you few hardcore Palin fanboys left think. And hope.
Your focus isn't "the bad guys." You repeatedly attempt to paint Palin as cowardly, weak, incompetent and unwilling to stand and fight.
The truth is, Palin is a hero to the state of Alaska. As much as you post here, if you don't understand that you're severely retarded.
