Skip to comments.Iowa, you must think of our nation's future! (Urges a Palin write-in)

Iowa is not one those states that dominates the news around the year. But every four years, Iowa gets a real chance to lead, when the primaries roll around. This year the Republicans have a large field of announced and unannounced candidates. Sarah Palin is not running, yet. But she certainly has imprinted on the GOP base, and Tea Party, and were I in Iowa, and able to write in my choice I would write in Sarah's name.
Would that hurt other announced candidates?
Certainly. It would hurt Bachmann, and Paul and maybe Santorum. And they all have their strengths, but they aren't Sarah. It would not hurt Romney and Perry, they are the blue bloods, moderates, kind of Bush clones, and if Iowans vote for them, they will prove they aren't too sophisticated when it comes to judging character.
Mitt Romney most recently sounded American and populist...for the moment. Being the former governor of a bluer than blue, union state, on the American east coast, with the Boston Harbor, Romney is not a Heartland type person, not a nationalist, but a globalist who believes in world trade (meaning the export of US jobs). Romney is not a Tea Party candidate; he just can read music and sings loud.
In addition, Obama's denial of the Christianity of the United States demands this election be a referendum on our national Christian character. We must nominate a Christian, a real Christian. Sorry Mitt, you don't fit that. And, besides that, this is the governor who believes in state health care...which is no different from national health care...just semantics. But massive tax increases are still going to have to pay for it. We simply can't afford it, while we face a 17 trillion national debt.
Governor Rick Perry needs to get zero support in Iowa so we can eliminate him. He did not defend the Texas border, did support a Trans Texas corridor from Mexico to Kansas City which would open the flood gates for another Mexican invasion of the American heartland! Perry had not shown any Christian tendencies until recently, and that's because his political advisers know the potential vote of the Religious Right. Iowa, please, end Perry's candidacy by ignoring him totally.
That leaves Gingrich, Bachmann, Paul and Palin. Gingrich will pick up strength in larger east coast states; he doesn't need a win in Iowa. Michele Bachmann does, and so do we conservatives! Michele would be an excellent V.P. choice for any of the male candidates. She is just a good person, a good Christian. Iowa step up and support Michele.
And there is Ron Paul. Congressman Paul is right on so many things. He brings the common sense of the US Heartland to the issues. Paul is wrong on legalizing drugs, and on homosexuality, but he is right on a lot of other issues, including reducing engagement overseas, and slashing the federal government.
The decision to write in Palin, if done by a sufficient number of GOP primary voters could be the event which might bring Palin out of the closet. I am still hopeful. Sarah has been my choice from the beginning. She is a Ronald Reagan type personality. She is a real person. Her Alaska roots instilled in her the individualism and frontier spirit which used to dominate America. Her fight against the oil companies, and against party insiders in the Republican Party are clear examples of her courage and leadership.
In any event, Iowa, its your turn. You can make a statement at the caucus. Please do your responsibility as a citizen! Please exercise your right to help govern America.
Every vote in the caucus is a write in, as there are no printed ballots.
Mark Vogl (and the Nolan Chart website) are serious Paultards. I have a feeling this is a move to shave some of Santorum’s natural supporters to help the numbers for Paul.
A Palin supporter is not expected to know what you have reported.
Write in another conservative and split the conservatives even more?
What pathetic brainiac came up with that idea?????
Out of the closet?
I thought we'd already heard all the salacious rumors. This one is new.
Yeah, just what we need, further division of the conservative vote.
Ask pissant when you see him next time what happened when he went there.
While I wish she was in the race - either she would dominate and unify the not-Romney (i.e., patriotic) wing of the GOP, or she would fail and remove that distraction - she’s not running. We need to choose among the candidates who are running, or we will be stuck with the crossover-voter’s favorite RINO. Governor Palin is my first choice, but that’s not relevant, not when she chose not to run.
Tell you what: When you’ve been here a year, we’ll take you somewhat seriously. Until then...
Ask pissant when you see him next time what happened when he went there.
Rove has him on night shift these days so I don't see him much.
"Rove has him on night shift these days so I don't see him much."
That’s him prior to 2008.
From that point on, the obsession and crack use dwindled him down
to about 125 pounds. He shook and sneezed a lot back then, and developed
some kind of neurological maladies. He’s better now. I’ll let him know you remembered him fondly.
Also the writer is just plain wrong about Perry.
It may be too much to expect for him to read some facts about Perry from someone on the ground but I'll try.
"yeah, what would you do if you have 1.6M illegals in your state that the Feds won't let you deport and are using up her state resources ($600B annually alone to house the illegals in Texas prisons)?
You make them into taxpayers, not tax drainers.
Just to cut your lies any further, here is a rundown on the majority of them: 1. Instate Tuition was enacted in Texas to avoid civil & federal lawsuits. 38% of legal citizens in Texas are Tejanos and a large chunk of these are multi-generational Texicans who have family and commerce on both sides of the border going back over 100 years . Has has been the case since the earliest days of the Republic. Most who move here to Texas settle in Texas and become legal Texans. Perry pissed off a lot of people over the Anti-Sanctuary City bill (Most of Houston) which is why Strauss tabled it in the legislature.
2. TTC was an idea to improve rural roads and highways without Texans paying for it or relying on federal funds Deal was shotdown during the study phase & never went into effect. Ranchers raised hell. It was tied to other ideas for development from NAFTA like the Inland Port development idea again never went into effect.
3. Bi-National healthcare idea. Perry & other legislators promoted a feasibility study to see if Mexico could help foot the bill on healthcare for squatters in the Colonias along the border. Texas isnt allowed to deport squatters in the colonias but Texas is under order from federal court to school them yada yada yada The state has cut off services hoping they would migrate back to mexico and then another liberal organization shows up to sue the state for discrimination Its a crooked mess with a-holes on both sides of the border exploiting everything they can with the Feds doing their level best to f*ck it up based on the way political wind blows.
3. The simple truth is this The Federal Govt. wont deport 12 million people back to Mexico Not in this economy.
4. The Federal Govt. wont secure the border unless a border governor does it everybody else will Punt in an out of sight out of mind way and we will be stuck in the legal quagmire we are in now.
5. You can't build a fence in the middle of a river, on land owned by ranchers who use it to water the cattle, or at the bottom of the ravines of the Big Bend National Park, where is where the 1,200 miles of the Rio Grande is and which is the BORDER BETWEEN MEXICO AND TEXAS. The best solution is boots on the ground and a serious focus on cartel activity. If there is a strong show of force both migration back south will increase & likely Mexico will start to get a handle on the trouble. The schitzo policy is a mess just like every other schitzo policy.
6. Texans want to clean it up without messing up the economy So does Mexico. building a wall in the middle of a river doesnt make sense and damming the Rio Grande as it goes into New Mexico wont fly either. But having troops and brass and surveillance & enforcement will.
7. Brewers AZ law wouldnt work in Texas we are too big..But he also defended her when the other borderstate governors wanted to shut her shut of the borderstate conference and in fact he said he wouldnt attend and without Texas a borderstate conference doesnt fly.
Perry isnt perfect But Texans an ornery bunch keep electing him cause he does his job for Texas. Hell do the best he can for the nation. It wont be perfect according to purists but he wont do a Reagan Amnesty ( Hes for guest worker which means documentation and taxation and cleaning up the immigration courts & prosecuting the grafters)
He probably knows more about Border Issues and Mexico and The economies from FL-CA then anybody in the race including most of DC
Perry is a politician who can form consensus and lead which is crucial with the border as hell have to work with the governors of each border state. If he is effective at it he will make serious inroads into Democratic support in the Hispanic base which ill benefit the GOP decades out imho.
It is because of the Texas Economy that he can beat Obama .All Obama will have is scaring seniors and women and gays.
This election will be about the economy."
What pathetic brainiac came up with that idea?????
Romney or one of his supporters.
I never blamed Sarah for quitting the Governors job in Alaska, but I do blame her for quitting her run for the Presidency.
She wants out, to me she is out.
How could she have “quit” something she was never in? Please explain that to me.
I can tell no one takes you seriously with how defensive you always are.
Game on = game off.
Fight like a girl = run away.
I can win! = I'll see ya.
Fire in the belly = indigestion due to angst caused by misleading followers.
Not to put too fine a point on it...
You got that part right.
I think the great Governor Perry can EASILY get the help to get all that done with Newt, Santorum, or Michele B. in the White House in 2013.
Ha ha , Nice Move, That lets her off the hook doesn’t it.
I am cool with it, she was never in, she was just a klinger .
She held all of her supporters in tenterhooks with her maybe I will , maybe I won’t, I will make up my mind one day rhetoric and actions then she bailed.
Telling us have a nice day and moving on.
She was never in,cool well now she is definitely out and needs to stay out. I am one supporter who will support her no longer.
I have a very good friend who was a Palin supporter. I'll use it on her and see if she's impressed. :)
I am afraid this just further divides the conservative vote, which seems to be largely divided into threes by Gingrich, Bachmann, and Santorum.
I’d vote for Sarah but you know, she needs to throw her hat in the ring first. Don’t further dilute the conservative vote.
Their only claim to fame is their staunch refusal to take second place in state cauci's.
Without the MSM coverage, the diners would be catering to the residents only........
You should check out C4P sometime, the level of delusion over there is almost unbelievable - far beyond what you typically see here from the Palin fanatics. If it weren't so sad, it really would be pure comedy gold. They just can't accept that Sarah isn't running, many still believe it's all an elaborate ruse to enter the race once the primaries are underway in some super secret strategy to outwit the "establishment". There is, apparently, no getting through to these people with any amount of logic or reason.
We conservatives certainly know how to eat our own...
“I’m not going to vote for Candidate X, even if I agree with 95% of their positions. That’s still not conservative enough.”
Early on, I hoped Sarah would run; I would have liked to vote for her. But she didn’t, and she isn’t. We need to get over it and move on.
Splitting the vote even more will not help, to put it mildly. For heaven’s sake, choose from the menu we’ve got.
With Santorum rising, there IS now someone for whom to proudly cast a vote. Bob
