Reason Ron Paul will not run third party in 2012: Rand 2016
Milwaukee Story ^ | 1.25.11 | Andy Booker

A third party run by Ron Paul in 2012 would make the presidential campaign path much more difficult for Rand in 2016, a year when the field will be much stronger than this cycle.

I think the 2016 cycle is likely to bring out the candidates that the Republican Party was swooning over just months ago, namely Palin, Paul Ryan and Chris Christie.

“I think Newt Gingrich has embarrassed the party over time,” Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” this morning. “Whether he’ll do again in the future, I don’t know. But Gov. Romney never has.”

If you do a search in FR on Christie you can get the whole story from several posts.

Yep, Rand’s potential has often been sited as at least one reason his father won’t go 3rd party.

Having some fat guy who can’t make it up one flight of stairs without stopping two or three times and is going to both knees replaced in a few short years is embarrassing.

Bet on a 3rd Party—the Democratic Party will insist upon it—the only question is whom they will fund to lead the thing—I do not think Ron Paul will do it—he’s an American and will see though the DNC plan to re-elect Obama. It might well be a Libertarian of some sort. Its 100% possible if Mittens gets the nod—Maybe 65% possible if Newt gets it. BUT it will happen.

To state that he would work to unseat the most conservative Senator, just to get back at his father, speaks loudly that to Levin, this is, at least at some level, a mere game.

Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson has already declared his intent to seek the nomination of the libertarian party and run for the Presidency....i.e. he is already declared as running 3rd party.

Yes, I could agree with that. I understood it as leverage deftly applied. If that’s a game, so be it. I don’t think it implies ML is anti Rand. On the contrary, I think it’s appealing to his Tea Party convictions which would preclude his father going third party. So I don’t agree with the dismissive sentiment toward Levin. Any way, that’s my take.

We can only hope an anti-American dem like Cut and Run goes third party. He will take all the ultra liberal anti-American votes that Obama would normally get. From the voters who think Obama is too conservative.
