Romney Quotes From Thurston Howell III and Ebenezer Scrooge

Ok....gang....Mitt is the front-runner....again....for now...Why the heck would he say something stupid like the dumb quote he made today about the poor? In his latest goof, Romney was quoted as saying that he is not concerned about "the poor...they have a safety net...if it needs repair, I'll fix it." Apparently Mitt has started channelling the ghosts of Ebenezer Scrooge and Thurston Howell III when he talks. Doesn't this sound eerily close to "A Christmas Carol"?

First Collector: At this festive time of year, Mr. Scrooge, it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the poor and destitute. Ebenezer: Are there no prisons? First Collector: Plenty of prisons. Ebenezer: And the union workhouses - are they still in operation? First Collector: They are. I wish I could say they were not. Ebenezer: Oh, from what you said at first I was afraid that something had happened to stop them in their useful course. Im very glad to hear it.

Romney disgusts me. Like Obama, when he speaks from the heart, you find that he has none - the same as with his “values”.

Wasn’t Romney one of the mannequins that came to life and started killing people on Doctor Who?

I remember when his father, Gov. George Romney, who was the odds-on favorite for the GOP nomination in 1968, self-destructed by publicly saying he was “brainwashed” on Vietnam. I hope for the sake of the party that this tendency to say odd things, even taken out of context by Obama’s parrots in the media, doesn’t carryover to the son.

Sadly, I’ve missed out on the new Dr. Who - since the 1980s that is.

I understand the disagreement on policy but why resort to ad hominem attacks?

Is this not the tactics of Liberals?

When you post to FR it is to pimp your blog. I do not understand why JimRob puts up with you and others.

Agreed. Democrats are happily taking notes.

The Thurston Howell character was actually a good kind hearted man. And Scrooge was a victim.

Why not leave JimRob to JimRob, and mind your own business, instead of distracting everyone from the topic of the thread down into your little anal busybody world.

Good old Breath Mitt. Needs a strong mouthwash after that stinker.

He out-focus-grouped himself on that one.

He may as well have said, “Longer, narrower yachts actually cost less (if you care about, uh, that sort of thing...)”.

“Is this not the tactics of Liberals?”

There are a lot of trolls pushing this story. They spent the last two weeks trashing Romney because he was a capitalist, then because he was rich, and now they are going to attack him for not being sufficiently concerned about the poor.

Yes, it is very much like what the liberals do, and don’t assume that those who are doing it are anything but liberals.

What’s most distressing is that Gingrich is trying to channel their views.

The quote is obviously taken out of context, but romney is such an pathetic campaigner he can't help but offer the left glittering gems of soundbites to smack him over the head with.

What a fool. I'd never vote for him all the same, but there goes another 20% of the national vote...
