Coulter on Palin and a brokered convention: Beware of political celebrities in the GOP
Hot Air ^ | March 14, 2012 | Tina Korbe

Actually, her exact phrase wasn’t “political celebrities.” At the Indian River County Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner in Vero Beach, Fla., Monday night, she said the GOP has a problem with “con men and charlatans.” Her point, though, was this: The Republican Party — and particularly the conservative movement — has created incentives for politicians to enter the fray not necessarily to win an office, but to eventually score a gig with Fox News or write a book. We need to be wary, then, of people who might possibly be in it solely for themselves. Coulter’s not keen on the idea of a brokered convention, but she’s also not concerned it will happen. I think she’s right. Right that it wouldn’t be good for the GOP because, really, who’s going to save us now? If nothing else, it sets a bad precedent: Who will want to face the primary process in the future if he knows he can skip it and still be in the battle for the nomination? Right, too, that it probably won’t happen. A contested convention is different: Santorum might have made a strong enough case for himself by the time the convention rolls around to be able to convince the needed number of Romney delegates to go his way — and he arguably should have that opportunity. Not sure Coulter would agree with me there, though. (H/t The Daily Caller and The Shark Tank)

Did she mention Sarah? I didn’t hear it. Just some blurb at the end about writing a book.

Oh wow! Like. I am SO interested in what ann coulter thinks I might have to shut down most of my brain to understand it as apparently she had to to state it.

Actually Ann, I’m more concerned with people who pretend to be Conservative but are on tape calling themselves “Moderate Progressives” like your butt boy Romney..Ann just can’t get over the fact that Romney is just like McCain, just with better hair

I read the article, didn't view the video.

My guess is that Herman Cain is at least one "charlatan" Ann Coulter had in mind. There can't be much doubt that he was angling for book sales, and possibly a Fox News slot.

Sarah Palin can hardly be called a charlatan, by any fair person who knows her real record.

Ann would certainly fit this description. Maybe she has her green on early. St. Paddy’s day isn’t until the 17th.

Unfortunately for Conservatives, Coulter is right. But, unfortunately for Coulter, when I think of Conservative “con men and charlatans,” I think of a close friend of Bill Maher, an ex-girlfriend of Andrew Stein and a champion of GOProud.

Democrats are not subject to a charlatans, ehhh what about Obama?

Dip shit is deep[ in the Romney Kool Aid.

What oh what has Romney EVER done that is Conservative. If there is one thin, does it offset Romney care, personal checks to Planned Parenthood, and the raising and introduction of dozens of new fees while governor?

Ann, STFU Dummy!

Ann should know about celebrity and charlatanism in the Republican Party, especially within the conservative movement. Just look at her.

Ann Coulter DID NOT throw Sarah Palin under the bus.

Ann was just being Ann. She gets a pass.

How ridiculous...there will be no future elections if we don't win this one. Give me Sarah over any of the candidates up now.

Romney is WORSE than McCain. McCain has always been moderately conservative and STRONG PRO-LIFE! Romney is and never has been either!

Turned fifty in December. Menopause does funny things to some women. Hormone storms make them crazy, you might say.

I wouldn't take Coulter too seriously for the next couple years.

“One of the ones promoting that [a brokered convention] is Sarah Palin, who has suggested herself as the choice,” Coulter said. “I think as long as it’s between us girls — I’ve been observing something about her. I don’t think it’s likely to happen. I don’t know what these people are cheering for.

She has certainly become a disappointment. However, on this site people tend to be purists. I tend to think that people like Coulter, Limbaugh and Palin are adept at finding a market and then mining it for fun and profit. One rarely sees or hears what they really believe. Their wealth earned as media celebraties enables them to live a life we cannot even imagine. Henry Ford made cars and a fortune, Limbaugh, Coulter and Palin speak what a certain market wants and make a fortune.

I wonder if if is possible to become America's next top model without going on America's Next Top Model? And if not choosing these people by a Reality Show would be a bad thing?

At the very beginning of the clip she mentions Palin by name, in a very nasty way.

She’s becoming a nasty old hag reminiscent of the hags and witches of the left.
