Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was on the Today show last week, and she did very well. It was an enjoyable show, and she handled the occasional barbs against her with class. But don't mention that in mixed company (liberals and conservatives), or anywhere online.

Palin's appearance on Today was met with an avalanche of criticism from the left. Websites like Democratic Underground and Huffington Post stewed in their hatred for Gov. Palin. Lefty mocker Jon Stewart ridiculed her. Former Today host Bryant Gumbel even said he was "embarrassed by Palin's appearance on the show," and he complained that she lacked the capability of reporting or interviewing, or having "a degree of gravitas."

In these people's attacks against Gov. Palin, the familiar refrain is that she is stupid, but that doesn't sound quite right. When liberals criticize Sarah Palin is being stupid, they have a real anger in their voice or urgency in their blog posts.

If the commentariat were really concerned about a public figure who is stupid, they would focus on Vice President Joe Biden. To those who pay attention to the news, if they are honest, they would agree that Vice President Joe Biden is a real buffoon. This recent rambling explanation regarding gasoline prices was yet another proof of Biden's foolishness.

But it is Sarah Palin for whom liberals have a special hatred when they assert that she is stupid. Why is this?

The last time the left in this country had such a full-throated denunciation of someone as stupid, it was of Ronald Reagan. I remember it so well because I too was a liberal during Reagan's first term as president. It was very frustrating to denounce someone as stupid even as he was winning two landslide elections...

When I read Rendevous With Destiny a book about the 1980 election I was struck how similar the criticisms of Reagan from leftist as well as establishment northeastern republicans sounded earilly similar to what one years now about Palin.

I think it's great that Sarah helped co-host the show. I'm sure there were many Americans who had heard about her, and it was mostly negative, but were able to see and make the determination about her for themselves.

I am sorry, but I have never been too thrilled with Palin.

Bush, McCain and Palin may not have directly given us Bambi on a silver platter, but they could have prevented him from ascending the WH throne if they would’ve only questioned his eligibility back in 2008, but they didn’t for political reasons.

His eligibility is still being questioned today but we shall never get an answer because it is too late now. Bambi holds all the cards today, but he did not back in 2008.

Ask Palin point blank if she believes in Bambi’s eligibility today and hear her stutter and stammer and pass the buck just like every other politician does.

The patronizing, back patting and “what a good girl you are” attitude by some on the Today show about made me ill. I really detest TV programs that have no substance. I don’t care about Flay and his latest recipes or the latest line of cosmetics - way too many other important things in life right now. I suspect that Sarah found herself thinking “who are these people?”. But she did go into the lions den and I think she did a superb job. If nothing else, it further illustrated the wide chasm between Liberals and a true Conservative. Too bad we don’t have a true Conservative TV program for any of them to appear on so they can see how totally screwed up their thinking is.
