President Obama’s new campaign pitch is that Americans should have his back. He’s released posters via his campaign for African Americans for Obama; campaign email after campaign email has asked Americans to get Obama’s back. The implication in all of this: Obama has your back, so you should have his.

I’ve seen these where I live and they disturbing. They are in the store windows in black areas all over the city. And in the last election, there was a radio commercial on the black station that was a fairly blatant appeal to blacks to fight for Obama against those white Republicans. They are a racial appeal.

Then again, Dems have been doing this for years. In the last 1800s, their slogan was “This is a white man’s country: Let white men rule.”

Or maybe change the one with Obama and Michelle to say:

It is a "tribal" mentality, in which group identity trumps individualism, one that seeks to create walls in place of bridges. In this case, it is also one that demands unearned favors from government on the basis of entitlement claims and accusation privileges.

In any event, I find this kind of thing repugnant and wholly antithetical to the foundational ideals of the American republic.
