She is the 12th in a series of possible Veep picks graded by CHQ Poll respondents.
We asked you: If Mitt Romney becomes the Republican nominee, who would be his best choice as vice presidential running mate?
And we explained: Each day we will offer you a different choice, and ask for your reaction. We are not asking you to vote for the best candidate. We are asking you to give your evaluation of each candidate. In this way we will see who is acceptable, and who is not acceptable, to conservatives and Tea Partiers.
Here is how you responded on Sarah Palin, former Governor of Alaska:
69% Favorable. Would make me more likely to work and vote for the Republican ticket.
16% Unfavorable. Would make me less likely to work and vote for the Republican ticket.
13% Neutral. Would not change my likelihood of working and voting for the Republican ticket.
2% Undecided.
Picking Sarah as his VP is the ONLY thing that would make me enthusiastic about supporting the GOP ticket. Without her, it’s a case of holding my nose, blinking back the tears, pulling the lever — and then going home to eat a three-day-dead toad to get the taste out of my mouth.
I’m doubtful that I would vote (r) even if she were on the ticket... and I voted for her in 2008. As long as we feed the elitist beast it will continue to screw up our country. They are only marginally less evil than the left.
The lesser of two evils is still evil.
I’m voting Goode unless he is not on the ballot in my state...otherwise; I will write in Palin.
Ditto. The ONLY thing that would make me consider voting for him.
I’m not sure I could support a Romney/Palin ticket...she shouldn’t be getting involved with someone like that...
...especially if Mitt would promise to resign after Inauguration Day.
Agree .... She wants validity she needs to evade such as McRommney.
Guilt by association per se.
Voting for Mitt is like putting more crap in a over flowing toilet to fix it.
My opinion..... Stay safe !
The only thing Governor Sarah Palin did was beat Democrats and Frick & Frack Republicans, get on the city council, become Mayor, chair an energy commission, become Governor and run for Vice President, raise her family, not abort her child, share earnings responsibility with her Husband, start a small business, and stick by her pregnant daughter. I can see how she would be a bad example for the woman’s liberation movement, the establishment, Demoocrat & Republican elites, abortion for children without notifying parents and others who want us to buy oil from the Middle East and hate Israel.
Mitt will pick Sarah because he HAS to (whether she accepts or not is anybodies guess)!
If she isn't Veep, she would be the leading conservative contender to primary his ass out of office in 2016.
‘Keep your enemies closer.” right?
“As long as we feed the elitist beast it will continue to screw up our country.”
And you think not voting is going to change the “elitist beast”.
Wanna buy a bridge?
“...eat a three-day-dead toad to get the taste out of my mouth.”
I still have that *taste* from Dole in ‘96 and McLame in ‘08, but it must be AB0 in 2012 - anyone but 0bummer!
Is that 69 percent of registered voters, 69 percent of likely voters, 69 percent of Republican primary voters or 69 percent of people who post at Conservative HQ?
It seems to me you’re the one ‘buying’ ...
- and I didn’t say I wasn’t voting, I said “Im doubtful that I would vote (r) even if ...” (FWIW, the “(r)” is intended to indicate the elitist republican party and the lack of esteem with which I regard it).
I’m done with being led to slaughter by judas goats.
Freepmail me a link, please.
There will be an election whether you vote or not. There will be a President elected in November. It will be one of two people. A failure to vote or for a third party is the same as a vote for Obama.
You can’t change the system by not voting. You can only change it from within the system. Its too late for this round, we need to get conservatives into the GOP.
Picking Sarah would make Romney only marginably more paletable,
Picking Sarah at the brokered convention as the POTUS candidate would be the best.
After all, it worked so well the last time.
We could spend all day typing out Mitt’s bad points, however he’s not McCain. McCain was outright Doleish in his campaigning. Of course it remains to be seen if Romney is willing to fight his fellow liberals for the Presidency.

Sarah Palin goes to a very small segment, relatively speaking, of the Republican Party"...LOL, then why does person quoted want anonymity?
oh please, not again - stop dragging her around like a pet on a leash
...leave her alone

She [Palin] is seen positively by Gingrich voters (85/7), Santorum supporters (80/10), and Romney ones (57/27) alike.
Thats a contrast to Romney who is disliked by both Santorum (38/48) and Gingrich (32/54) voters and..
Santorum who is disliked by Romney (38/48) voters and only seen narrowly favorably by Gingrich (46/42) backers.
Exactly his team is what did her in. She could have withstood the MSM/Democrat onslaught, but not the GOP-E assassination, which to start was Mitt’s guys’ doing.
It is a testament to her strength that she wasn’t done in by the MSM alone (she’s got more substance and populist style than Dan Quayle had) or even by the Mittkickers. Actually after the full GOP-E piled on the last three years, it’s not even clear that she couldn’t mount a comeback in the future.
But make no mistake, it was Romney’s Mittheads that pushed her out of viability for a 2012 run. They are to blame for our having two such bad choices this year.
Unfortunately, no. They did enough damage to keep her from running in an open GOP year, she almost certainly wouldn’t come back and run against her party’s incumbent.
Same here, Romney has realistically no chance on his own trying to bring in the conservative majority, if he had any brains he would grab Sarah Palin.
His odds of beating Obama will increase dramatically.
You follow your conscience, I'll follow mine. I will no longer play their game, ... nor yours.
Bachmann would be a good VP choice too.
Doesn’t matter who the VP is. If Mutt’s at the top, the ticket is a non-starter.
Despite Palin not being willing to run for the TOP spot on the ticket, some people still seem to think she’d settle for number two for two elections running.
I said some would find Romney slightly more acceptable if Palin was alongside, but speaking for myself its Sarah Palin up front dead center from a brokered convention or nothing.
Its not my judgement and its not about you. Its about the country and our childrens future.
BTW its not a game, its a matter of life and death.
Good lord. I hope the party is not that dumb.
Maybe it’s time for the GOP to die off and be replaced by the Tea Party. I’m fed up with RINOs forcing liberals down our throats.
My team lost so I'm taking my ball and calling the game over.
Spoiled brats, not conservative standard bearers, more closed minded than any left wing envirowhacko.
Mooks.
Why would she sacrifice herself for someone to the left of John McCain, who gleefully fed her to the wolves?
The thought of voting for Romney makes me seriously ill, but the alternative IS worse. Sarah would lose credibility with her conservative base, who would rather have hot bamboo shoots jammed under their fingernails than vote for Romney. Sarah wasn’t enough to save RINO Juan McCain, and might not be enough for Romney. It would make me feel better about voting for Romney, but unlike liberals, we aren’t led by feelings, but by truth. She has plenty of time to make a run.

Yup. Letting the perfect be the enemy of the good, so that the evil wins.
The SCOTUS choices alone of Obama would doom this country irreversibly. (Cue the lame arguments of Romney choices long ago in the most liberal state.)
That being said, I’m not convinced Palin would be a good choice.
1) She is too polarizing in that she would inflame the left. In a sports analogy, you don’t give the other team something to anger them and rally around.
2) If MR is to win, he HAS to sweep FL, NC, VA. He has to pick someone that would enhance his chances in those states.
He also to, IMO, pick someone who demographically balances the ticket.
I think his best shot will be with Allen West, Marco Rubio, or Nikki Haley, probably in that order.
Pardon my French, but Romney doesn’t have the balls to pick Palin.
I like your thinking. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Romney won and Sarah almost immediately began a series of not so subtle ad’s appearing to get behind Romney but at the same time letting him and the establishmnet know that we are paying close attention and that there will be consequences for failing to heed the warning.
Even if Mittens chooses Sarah for VP, I will not vote for him.
I voted for McCain because of Sarah, but I cannot cross the line and vote for Mitt.
Mitt needs a Conservative on the ticket—a real conservative—Newt, or Palin or someone else—Not a fellow RINO. Who ever it is shouldn’t be a Mormon. A war hero would be OK— someone with a proven record. Someone who has walked the walk rather than just talked the talk—Not a Token of some ethic group but a hard headed social conservative.
Last time I checked; I have the right to vote for anyone I damn well please. I will NOT be herded into a liberal pen by Rove and his ilk. If Zero wins; that will just show that a majority of voters want Communism.
Although I like Haley, West and Rubio, I doubt that Romney will pick a VP candidate with so little experience in Congress or the governors’ office.
All of them have been on their jobs only 15 months or so.
My guess is that it is a proven conservative governor with more years of experience.
“My guess is that it is a proven conservative governor with more years of experience.”
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
IMHO, if he chooses an older white male non-Southern RINO (eg, Santorum, Daniels, Jeb Bush, Giuliani-type) then he will certainly lose.
He HAS to demographically diversify, and he HAS to win FL, NC, and VA.
As far as I am concerned, the 16% can go to blazes
Niki Haley being VP?? I would take that as a slap in the face, and I think any decent Conservative would share my pain
At the very least, she should be a speaker at the convention.
