With just a week left until the Texas Senate primary, underdog Ted Cruz is hitting the airwaves with a new TV ad that closes with a pitch for support from Sarah Palin.
"I'm Sarah Palin. Join me. Choose Cruz for Senate," Palin says, in what sounds like an audio recording of a robo-call. Palin, who backed now-GOP nominees Deb Fischer and Richard Mourdock in the lead up to the Nebraska and Indiana Senate primaries endorsed Cruz earlier this month.
The ad also appears to be an implicit rebuttal against ads frontrunning Lt. Governor David Dewhurst and his allies have been running about the former state solicitor general representing a Chinese company in a case against an American man. Cruz's ad points out the times Cruz and his father have fought foreign interests.
"Tortured and imprisoned by a Cuban dictator, Ted Cruz's father fought back, escaping to America," says the narrator of the ad. "Ted successfully fought the United Nations, defending Texas's right to execute an illegal alien for murdering two teenage girls."
Next Tuesday's primary is a test of whether Dewhurst can get more than 50 percent of the vote and avoid a July runoff. But with Cruz gaining momentum and a third candidate -- former Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert -- spending big on TV ads of his own, that proposition is in serious doubt.
She’s still OPTUS in my book...
Damn phone. POTUS
If you’ve ever met Ted Cruz in person, he’s very impressive. I’ve seen him talk for over an hour on everything from his background to his philosophy, his accomplishments as an appellate lawyer and Texas Solicitor General, and campaign strategy. He didn’t even need to look at notes, and there wasn’t a teleprompter anywhere.

I heartily agree. Some of us have been campaigning very hard for him.
Dewhurst is outspending him about 20 to 1 with saturation negative lies.
Cruz really needs to make it to a runoff and raise some bucks.
Sarah helped, but I think so did DeMint.
I heard him on Hannity’s radio program last week and was very impressed. I just wish he was an Ohioan so I could vote for a real leader.
Cruz did forty five minutes on the Michael Berry show this morning, it was great. Then The Great One made a ten minute visit right after Ted finished and really pumped up Cruz.
My wish would be a straight up win on Tuesday but knocking off Do-Hurst in the run-off will work just fine.
