On his show Tuesday night, Ed Schultz took on birthers — specifically those in Iowa and Arizona who have brought President Barack Obama‘s eligibility for office back into headlines recently. He asked, isn’t this just racism?
The Iowa GOP chairman, Don Racheter, and Arizona’s secretary of state, Ken Bennett, have recently questioned Obama’s natural-born citizenship (though Bennett said he’s not a birther, he sought verification of Obama’s birth certificate from Hawaii, saying it’s possible he’d take Obama off the ballot otherwise).
Schultz asked his guest, Georgetown University Professor Michael Eric Dyson, “Is this just another form of racism being played out in a different form?” Dyson replied, “What else are we to conclude?” — citing that Obama has shown every form of documentation to confirm his U.S. birth.
At the heart of this is the fact that they “just don’t like this man,” Dyson said. “You’re disrespectful toward him, you’re condescending toward him. [...] Respect the office, of course, also respect the man.” He added, “I don’t think it’s anything but a racist assault” on Obama.
People like Sarah Palin and Joe Arpaio lack serious credentials, he said. To Bennett, Dyson’s response was, “Be ashamed of yourself.” Apparently, he said, only white men and white women fit the bill — and “we have to fight this.”

Someone needs to call the FBI and inform them that Ed Schultz is an escaped lab rat released from a 20th Century Soviet experiment designed to see how long an animal can continue to communicate without a living brain.
What? Do they honestly think if during the ‘04 election legitimate doubts had been widely circulating that John Kerry was not a Natural Born Citizen, we conservatives would have turned a blind eye, just because we would have been happy to at least have a white guy running?!
No way! We would have torn into Kerry over this just the same. They must know that.

Let's take a look at Schultz’ “serious credentials”...
- Graduated from High School in 1972
- Played football at Minn St Univ Moorehead
- Dropped out of school to play football in 1977 (yes, that's right...five years at Moorhead without a diploma)
- Bounded around the NFL for a few months and failed
- Tried Canadian Football League and failed
- Tried sportscasting in Fargo ND and failed (probably a lot of competition for the high paying job of “voice of the Bisons” in Fargo...)
- Had a high-vis career as the “play by play” man for the Univ of North Dakota “Fighting Sioux” (Schultz probably pronounced that “sucks”)
- Tried out for a sportscasting position with the Minnesota Vikings and failed
- In the late 90s and up to 2004 Schultz had a local talk radio station, frequently broadcasting from a 34' camper (nice)...I'll bet that really lured the groupies in... - In 2005 Schultz, at the age of 51, Schultz finally got a job where the graffiti on the bathroom walls wasn't enough of a resume, when he managed to jump into syndicated talk radio...licking up in the bootprints of Rush Limbaugh, who created the industry.
- In 2009, MSNBC, repository of the nation's worst media bottom-dwellers, picked up Schults as a host. His ratings speak for themselves.

The real irony here is that we know more about Ed Shultz’s history than we know about Barak Obama’s history.
Is Birtherism ‘Just Another Form Of Racism?’
Only if the questioner believes that a white person has a legit claim to citizenship to the United States of America and feels it is not necessary to show any forms of IDs and that it should be only non-whites that have to show it.
Alan Keyes is a birther so I say the answer is “no”
