Geraldo Rivera appeared on Fox & Friends on Friday where he praised the Supreme Court decision on Thursday that allowed President Barack Obamas health care reform law to stand. However, he said that the decision would lead to a Republican victory in November as Democrats would now have to defend the law as a tax increase. It is a political issue and now the Republicans can make 2010 happen again, reenergize the tea parties, get the base motivated and bring the Obama tenure to an end, said Rivera.
Rivera called Chief Justice John Roberts decision brilliant and said that, in the wake of the Citizens United ruling in 2010, his court was getting a reputation for being reliably conservative.
He achieved a result that absolutely blew that out of the water, said Rivera. Nobody now is talking about the political court. Chief Justice Roberts, one of whose prime roles is protecting the court scores big time he protects the court.
Rivera said that by upholding the law on the narrowest of grounds and reframing the mandate as a tax, Republicans have been handed a political opportunity.
He has gifted President Obama a poison pill, said Rivera. Republicans now can remember, unless something is done, that the Bush tax cuts also lapse at the end of the year. So here you have the largest tax increase and the increase coming from the expiration of the Bush tax cuts he taxed us, he said he wouldnt tax us, he taxed us. I think the Obama presidency hangs by a threat right now.
I dont mean to demean the Chief Judges integrity in any way, said Rivera. He said that Roberts may believe his opinion but the result is an incredible shift towards Republicans.
It is a political issue and now the Republicans can make 2010 happen again, reenergize the tea parties, get the base motivated and bring the Obama tenure to an end, said Rivera.

Jerry Rivers gets a clue.
Her ral do has yet to say anything relevant. At least, anything anybody wants to hear.
In less than a week, Odumbie has made both the national dislike for socialized medicine and the Holder problem into Obama problems.
Dang - pigs must be flying - I agree with Jerry Rivers.
Whoraldo was just on Bill O’Reilly and said he was a Republican!!! He was a total jerk as usual.
Sorry Jerry. We all thought SCOTUS would find CommieCare unconstitutional. Instead, they had a recreational drug party and stuck it to the taxpayers. I’m not buying this sh*t anymore. 50% of the people living in this country are drooling, blithering idiots. They are clueless about the SCOTUS decision. They just want the feds to keep giving them “free” stuff.
Who will pay for that? We’re broke!!
I don’t understand this law at all. But if Geraldo is agin it,
then I’m for it.
The freeloaders don’t care. Their boy Barry will make “the rich” pay for their freebies and handouts. (”The Rich” are the people like us who pay the taxes.) Barry’s Amerika is a big pinata!
Hey, id this thing is a tax, can I deduct it on my 1040?
This statement is completely wrong. The job of the Supreme Court is to protect the Constitution, not to protect the Court. The role of the Chief Justice is to see that the Court does its job, not to play politics or compete for Miss Congeniality. Roberts failed massively, and that will (at best and only if we get very lucky) have destructive and unintended consequences for generations. At worst, the mistake Roberts made will destroy America sooner even that Obama ever dreamed.
Who is John Galt?
Who the frack cares??? I don't care about the court. They're just some disobedient employees I have that are really really hard to fire, and I have to do what they say, or at least they think so. I care about MY rights, not their reputation, especially not their reputation in a venue where they get praised if they abdicate their FREAKIN DUTY!!!!
And besides, what’s the point of protecting the court, when there’s no point in having it around anyway???
Yes, he is correct.
Yep. Democrats cannot run against the SC and must defend a "Read My Lips" tax.
I think I’m gonna puke saying this, but this bigmouth Dickweed has just hit a triple with 2 outs in the ninth.. :)
I said as much about Roberts yesterday. I believe this move was either brilliant, or the biggest mistake a turncoat has ever made.. DON’T FORGET TO VOTE
Well, how about that! The little feller got one!
