As a former business owner, I was shocked by the audacity of our President when he declared, If youve got a business, you didnt build that. Someone else made that happen.
That statement not only shows his audacity, it also shows his naiveté.
As a business owner, it was common for me to spend 70 to 80 hours a week working to build my business. It was also common to have my employees taking home a larger salary than I paid myself. In fact, I think it was 18 months before I took any salary out of my company just so I could make sure I was able to keep the company going.
I see glaring attacks on business owners and it seems like its mostly driven by jealousy. Its the attitude that says, They have something I dont have and thats unfair.
But the people making those statements have not been willing to leave the security of employment to venture into business ownership themselves. If they were willing to invest everything they had into a business, risking their financial future, and working twice as many hours as their employees to build a business, they would have a different view of entrepreneurs.
Could I have built my company without any employees or subcontractors? No. But did any of them pay the sacrifice I paid to develop that company? No. Would that company have been built without me? No. The businesses we have around us are here because entrepreneurs were willing to make an investment and do the work that needed to be done to make their business grow.
And because of that, we have jobs offered to people. We have services and products for people to buy and use. Our standard of living is raised, and revenue comes into our city, state and federal governments to provide the educational systems and public services that are required to maintain our country.
It is the entrepreneurs and business owners who have enabled our economy to grow and prosper. When we start penalizing them to the point where there is so much risk for a new venture that they resist taking it, well find it is our country and our economy that will suffer for it. Or to put it more directly, it will be you and I who will pay the highest price.
If we are going to grow our economy, we need people in political office who know how business works because they have been involved themselves. I believe we need more business owners in political office because of the unique experience that comes from building and running a business, which is why I ran for office.
Our current President definitely has never run a business, just a campaign, and it shows not only in his statements, but in the economy he is producing. Please keep that in mind when you decide who you will vote for in this coming election.
so the fedgov is responsible for my success and wants “it’s share”
how about the failures and loss? will they also take part in that??
didn’t think so
you ain’t getting any, mr. _resident
This was said back in the 2008 during the election, or maybe 2009 just after the inauguration, I can’t remember which.
Biden said something like this.
I remember Rush covered it and played Biden’s words on his radio show.
Biden was asked at some kind of town meeting what Obama/Biden would do for small businesses and Biden said something like, “well, if your business is across the river and you need to cross a bridge to get to it, government did that for you.”
These people really believe this crap. It’s not just Obama. It’s the entire democrap party (though they’ll try to distance themselves from all this during the coming election).
President Obama really jumped the shark in Roanoke last week. Now he will have to claim I didnt say that. Someone else made it happen..
I don’t have a business, but would like one.
Where is the business the government built for me?
