Here's a totally unsubstantiated rumor: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said that he's heard that Romney did not pay any taxes for 10 years. Democrats have criticized Romney for not releasing more than two years of his tax returns. But there has never been anything to suggest that Romney's tax bill was zero.
The presumptive GOP candidate has said he always paid all of the taxes he was required by law to pay. But he has said releasing more tax returns would likely not quiet critics.
And so speculation has run rampant. In an interview with the Huffington Post, Reid said that a month ago someone who invested with Bain Capital, called his office to say that Romney, "didn't pay any taxes for 10 years."(continued)

When Romney ran for Gov in Massachusetts he released several years of tax returns. Did Harry’s informant forget to tell him about that???Hummmm

This is mild compared to what the Dems will be saying (and the “news” media will be printing/broadcasting) in October.

This is a trick to get Mitt to release his tax returns.
Of course not. And the media won't use every jot & tittle in 10 years worth of Romney tax returns to smear, deflect, & divert public attention from the sh*tty economy & Obama's record of failure for the next three months, either.
Why, if they find nothing they'll probably even report that Willard is squeeky clean after their investigation of his returns.

And I heard a rumor that Harry Reid fathered an illegitimate son by his mistress many years ago, but I’ve never told anyone about it.
That statement is maybe the most despicable thing Dems have ever done. And that’s saying something. Imagine some Republican getting on the floor of congress and stating that someone who knew Obama way back when, called the congressman or woman, and said Obama killed puppies with a hammer when he was in college. The congressman can’t cite the source, but what if it were true? It’s up to Obama to prove that he didn’t kill puppies with a hammmer. The whole thing is so reprehensible that it’s beyond the bounds of civility.

This is actually a great twist for Romney if he takes advantage of it.
Now, all he has to do is say, “I give the IRS permission to disclose ALL my tax records IF I have failed to file taxes for the past 10 years.”
“NOW...I challenge Obama to release HIS records.”
OK, GOP establishment types will never play hard ball, so forget the second part. But the first part is PERFECT.
Please, somebody pass this along to the campaign and make sure I get credit.
Why can’t Boehner come out and say, I heard a “rumor” Obama has a Connecticut SS#, or I heard a rumor Obama graduated with a 2.2 GPA, or I heard a rumor Obama doesn’t care about white people.
I do you think the press would react to that?
Somebody needs to tell him he was looking at Timothy Geithner’s tax records.
