The Republican Primary debate for FL dist 23 was held tonight in Hollywood FL. Participants were Gineen Bresso, Ozzie deFaria, Juan Garcia and Joe Kaufman. Karen Harrington was scheduled but chose to speak at a Red State event in Jacksonville instead. The Moderator was local ABC affiliate politgical reporter Michael Putney (yes I know).
Mr Putney stated several times in the beginning questions of the debate that he was a "registered independent" which is odd phrasing. He should certainly know as a political reporter that the legal term in FL is "no party affiliation" or NPA.
Several questions into the debate Mr deFaria began an answer to a question with a congrats to Mr Putney for his recent local Emmy Award. He explained that it prompted him to do his research on the moderator prior to the debate and the was surprised to find that Mr Putney's Facebook page listed Debbie Wasserman Schultz as one of his "interests". http://www.facebook.com/michael.putney.3?ref=ts (screen save it now).
Mr Putney had a choice at this point. He could have gone the route of saying something along the lines of...of course she is an interest, I live in or near her district. But instead he went the route of "I don't know who posted that on my page" while his face going into colors that would have made an early Oct Vermont maple tree envious. Seriously...it is in your "activities and interests section" only you or someone with your password posted it.
There is a good chance that the "Shark Tank" (no connection) may have video of this posted tomorrow. There were multiple cameras running. Needless to say it was a hoot. About a hundred and change conservatives laughing at a lib who thinks he is soooo much better than us rubes is always a good time.
Liberals will many times claim to be independant claiming that they don’t want to be “boxed in” to a category.
Ralph Nader supporters consider themselves independents.
over 90% of journalists self-admit they vote democrat. No surprise. Anytime I read or see or hear one I automatically assume they are, given common sense, unless I observe and learn otherwise.
I live in dws’ district 20. Says it on my voter card.
Voting for Karen Harrington. And will volunteer in her office before the election. Got time, no job.
