If Hollywood put out a casting call for a leading man to play the president of the United States, Mitt Romney would fit the bill to perfection. In the looks department, he has a picture-perfect smile and perfect hair. In personality, he projects an air of confidence and leadership. His family life mirrors a 1950s television show -- still married to his beautiful first wife; father of five successful, handsome sons; grandfather to many adorable little children; has never smoked, imbibed alcohol, or done drugs; is devoted to his church, gives generously to charity, and personally helps those in need; and is an excellent provider. He has been a proven success in business. The time once was when his business acumen and ability to make money for his family -- and more importantly, for others -- would have made him a PR flack's dream candidate and a role model for the small business community.
But these are different days; these days, the "politics of personal destruction" is standard operating procedure for the Democratic Party and its allies, the so-called mainstream media.
Mitt Romney knows what it takes to run a successful business and to take a floundering business and turn it around so that it is profitable and able to employ many people. Romney knows the rewards of hard work, long hours dedicated to a job, and the sacrifices necessary to become a success in business. How many communities across America would view someone like Romney as favorable if that person brought jobs and prosperity to their towns?
President Obama, on the other hand, recently told small business owners, "If you've got a business -- you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."(continued)

Comments? Are you kidding? In short order there will be an flaming cadre of Romney haters stopping by to let all of us know that God is angry with those who would vote for a Mormon. Anyone at FR who would admit they will vote for Romney to get rid of little barry bastard commie will be deemed not a true conservative, a threat to the Republic, a general spoiler. And if you go so far as to any notion that might be thought of as a reason to vote for Romney instead of just against Obama, you will be ridiculed and chastised. Comments? Sjirley yer joking. Series, if it were only commnets that will spew forth ...
He tells the truth and never smoked, imbibed alcohol, or done drugs, five reasons the progressives and media hate him.
In a best case senario if Romney wins, he actually does nothing except go around “looking the part”.
MSM, doing their job diligently and relentlessly as Obama’s Reelection Committee, keeping any real issue of any substance pertaining to Obama’s miserable and despicable record as far away from the debate and discussion and the American people’s attention as possible.
Nobody is the perfect President, but he beats Obummer in every category so I will have no problem pulling the lever for Romney come Nov.
The polling groups seem to be intent on going hand in hand with the news media to make Romney look like the Devil incarnate. All I know is that whatever faults Mitt has, he is NOT Obama. Obama is a communist or maybe worse and I do NOT want him as president anymore (actually I didn’t want him as president in the first place).
“The democrat party is a Criminal Enterprise.” Come On November
The Republicans have always needed a Teflon(R) candidate, and Romney is almost the living likeness of Ward Cleaver. The Democrats will find some tiny detail and harp away at it. They are good at that. George Bush was called stupid and because he never fought back, the label managed to stick. Today, Bush can’t argue the point, it is now a given, in the minds of most Americans, thanks to the Democrat Media.
They did the same to Sarah Palin. One liberal friend said Sarah Paln was as dumb as dirt. I told him he better not talk about her that way if we were to remain friends. But somehow they try to paint the narrative that the conservative is stupid and the liberal is sooooo smart. The Romney Gaffes story that was tried in the leadup to the Olympics didn’t work that well, but rest assured, that is the most likely place to make the mud stick, if they can’t find somewhere else. Selective editing of tape can make anybody look stupid, and the liberals own all of the tape.
He’s a demon because he chose the wrong family to be born into. Too rich and too Mormon.
Including the one showing obama praising his terrorist buddy, Rashid Kahlidi, at a 2003 banquet in Chicago.
You're quite the comedian. You made me laugh out loud.
Too bad Romney has dissed and dismissed, ignored entirely and blown off conservatives and all devout Christians with firm intent to let them know it, making it perfectly clear that he shall keep his best finger stuck firmly in our eye, to remind us that we have been dispatched from the beginning, not needed, as he flounders for ground in the swing states for their electoral votes, which will decide this thing.
We are the legs of this party and could have been of some small assistance in shouting back at his critics, but instead will respond in kind, by giving TO him exactly as good as we get FROM him. But then, the GOPE knew this already. They are going after liberals for the party and silencing the leggy base, except for the fearful and wobbly, who have assented to go along for the RINO ride to the political ovens awaiting.
Romney was certainly not my first or second choice, but despite the whining around hear, he did win. I was for Newt, and I hoped his maturation would have made him immune to his greatest weakness, but Romney was able to prod him into reacting and over-reacting, as the media wanted.
Newt was going fine until he lost it and "turned mean". That was what the media was waiting for and they nailed him.
Maybe Mitt is too clean for some on this forum, and yeah, he isn't the "principled conservative" that some profess to be, but he is one hell of a lot better than Obama and he is willing to undergo the media colonoscopy on the road to the White House.
The question is, are we grown-up and mature enough to accept the fact that while he isn't our first or even second choice, he is our candidate and now our job is to get him elected? On this, the jury is still out.
Small things amuse small minds I guess.
And if a majority of voting Americans can’t see these obvious facts and remove the Marxist Community Organizer from the Oval Office then they deserve the country with which they’re left.
What?!? You're saying there are reasons for conservatives to vote for Romney besides getting rid of Barry? Do tell!
On that particular thread, the offering was mostly ignored by the negative nay-bobs.
Hopefully, he prevails in this election because the alternative is utterly ruinous. However, let us not be blind to what we are getting with this man. Let us not be surprised either when many mainstream or conservative causes are compromised or undermined as a result of his presidency.
Just my two cents, for what it's worth.
Yes, these *are* Romney’s saving graces. If only he could grow some character (outward appearances can often hide the rot within) & Stop. Screwing. Up. Or stop his spokespeople (?) from screwing up. The angst I feel about voting for him is coming *directly* from him. Why is he making me/ us choke on it?
Dr. Crouse has given the typical velvet glove treatment to Romney when what he needs is a twice daily swift kick in his posterior.
When Dr Crouse writes “ - - - Mitt Romney is telling Reid to “put up or shut up,” she finds that admirable.
Why not leap out of the Romney snuggy-safe foxhole and take out the enemy position?
For example, why not say: “Between now and the time that I announce who will be taking Joe Biden’s job next January, I, W.M. Romney will have sealed all of the State and Federal Tax records for myself in accordance with the standards of Sealing of School and other records by many elected members of the Democrat Party.”
“I will encourage my future Vice President to do the same, so that both Political Parties will be on a level playing field for the first time in over six years.”
This is pretty funny. Someone somewhere read this article, lifted some passages about their hero Romney, and sent them off in a chain email; I got it yesterday from my mother-in-law. Whoever wrote the email was likely a hormonal woman who needs glasses, because she embellished “picture perfect smile and hair” with “drop-dead, collar ad, movie-star handsome!!”. It ended with, “Also, he’s a Mormon, that wonderful religion which teaches its members to be clean-living, upright, etc.” It was really pathetic.
I decided I needed to cue my MIL in on the real Romney and his record. It turns out she knew about him and sent the thing as a joke.
By the time his father died in 1995, Mitt was already plenty rich in his own right. So, he signed his inheritance over to BYU, to fund the George Romney Institute of Public Management.
If I may - here's the key part of that post:
Of the two presumptive nominees, I ask myself which one might be pushed toward the center, since both are left of center. I conclude that Romney can be pushed toward the center and may even be pushed a bit right of center....Sounds like we agree that Romney's core beliefs and public policies are leftist. Where we disagree is re the unproved assumption that Romney is willing to change his core beliefs for eight years. I think he's willing for maybe three more months.
....If conservatives will get off their butts and vote, running up vote tallies for conservatives and tea partiers down ticket, then Romney will be even more susceptible to centrist or right of center policies in order to accomplish 'his legacy'.
BTW, Mitt Romney isn’t my hero in any way, shape or form. He is the gardener I will use to remove a stubborn, toxic, misbegotten weed from the garden of the Republic, then chastise to keep him on the straight and narrow. There are only two major parties in this country and until that changes, wasting my precious vote, that I, my forefathers and many other men and women fought and some were disabled, wounded or died for is a travesty.
No, the Left has assured me that he inherited all his money and outsourced 200 million jobs to India, China and Pakistan! Don’t you watch the network news and The View??
Except for the part about the hair and alcohol, couldn't this description apply to Herman Cain, also?
Yes. Or Gov. Sarah Palin (just substitute husband for wife) or many other conservative leaders. Most Democrats have never done anything other than government work or the law, it’s all they know.
Mitt is so bland, the Obamatons are working 24/7 to make up stuff. I suspect they’ll accuse him of killing puppies with hammers next.
Um, did you miss the point of the ‘first LDS president of the USA desperate to build a legacy’? ... And that is a strong motivator for a man like Romney.
I understand where you’re coming from, 2DV. My post wasn’t personally directed at you, except as the author of the thread.
I would say, though, that declining to vote for a candidate who is completely opposed to one’s values isn’t a waste. My dad was a veteran, and as much as I respect everyone who’s served from the Revolution on down, sometimes there’s a higher Authority.
This article is disgusting. It forgot to mention that Romney is a progressive, a pathological liar, a committed Statist, a committed ally of the homosexual movement, and a cult leader within both the RNC and LDS as this article clearly demonstrates.
You nailed it, my FRiend.
No, I didn't miss it. Unable to find where the indented "legacy" quote came from, I was left to assume it originated with you, and not with Romney. Give me something in Romney's own words that says he's desperate to build a legacy, and we can begin talking.
...that is a strong motivator for a man like Romney.
It's only a motivator if he says it's a motivator. You still need to demonstrate that Romney wants a conservative legacy, that the idea originated inside his head and not yours. Besides, Romney doesn't strike me as being desperate over anything, certainly not desperate to decrease the size of the federal government.
First, I don't think Romney reasons along lines of conservative or liberal. He is, by all that's being sprayed about him and his religion, a creature of that cult. He is a leader within that cult, but not in such a way that vermin like Harry Reid, fellow heirarchy Mormon, respect him. Yet the attacks from the liberal Reid inicate that that sort of Mormon sees Romney as 'opposition'. IF --and this is a big if, sadly, since conservative voters have shown a penchant to sit the elections out if there is too much 'controversy' for their tastes-- if there are sufficiant tea party style conservatives in the House and Senate, I believe Romney will sign conservative legislation sent to his desk, rather than create the legacy of a 'Reid style Mormon' for the Historical point of the first Mormon President of the United States.
Can I quote him saying he wants to build a conservative legacy? Of course not, and you know that but tried to cut the thoughts off before they air because of an agenda you appear to have. I see one of two men being the president sworn in in January 2013, Obama or Romney. The only way We The People have a chance to rid ourselves of Obama is by voting the bastard and his henchghouls out of office, by voting Romney in. Both are left of center men, politically. But I believe we have a better chance of pushing Romney toward the center than pushing a devout hater of America to the center when he has nothing to lose because he will not stand for re-election.
You are much like many at FR of late, demanding proof of something that is not a reality and knowing that proof cannot be provided, so you reject the only alternative we have to Obama. You may not believe Obama and his criminal enterprise can end the Republic in four more years, but do you really want to take that chance, just because the alternative is a politician also to the left of center but not a committed commie race baiting America hater? It appears to many of us that folks like you are willing to let the dice roll if you can punish the GOPe by helping to prevent a Romney presidency. Those dice are loaded, and being rolled to end the sovereignty of We The People.
I'm not willing to endure four more years of the race hustling, hate-filled commie fraud now running the government, just to punish the GOPe. I will continue to work to supplant the current scum that are the GOPe, however, and with Obama out, there is at least a chance of turning the GOP around so long as we have free elections. Little barry bastard commie has plans to end that freedom and swell the ranks of government dependents to insure he can control the people and herd them where his masters want US to go ... and no, I can't give you a quote from Barry Soetoro, aka Steven Barnard Dunham, aka Barack Obama to prove that assertion either, but I would wager you know it's true.
A man of few words unless hes slandering or libeling one of his many enemies from the legal safety of the Senate floor Reid (whose alleged hobby involves live Gerbils and toilet paper tubes) displayed the universally understood symbol for the numeral one.
