Romney-Ryan Ticket Out of Touch with Americans on LGBT Equality (Lavender Mafia not happy)
The Human Right Campaign - Working for LGBT Equal Rights ^ | August 11, 2012 | Dan Rafter

Posted on 08/11/2012 8:14:36 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Mitt Romney announced Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate this morning, giving us a 2012 GOP ticket that could roll back much of the progress we've seen toward full equality. Ryan’s voting record in Congress – and his public remarks – make it clear that he does not support the dignity of LGBT Americans; a matter on which he is out-of-touch with the majority of Americans – even those within the Republican Party.

Paul Ryan does not support LGBT families, and has voted against allowing gay and lesbian couples to adopt. He voted against hate crime protections. He opposed repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and he does not support marriage equality. Recent polling shows just how out-of-touch Ryan’s positions on LGBT equality are: support for marriage equality stands at 54 percent nationwide, with those between the ages of 18 – 34 supporting marriage equality by 73 percent; according to a June CNN/ORC International Survey. Nearly 50 percent of Republicans under the age of 35 also support marriage equality, according to an NBC News/WSJ poll.

Mitt Romney’s record is no better than Ryan’s on matters of LGBT equality. Romney does not support relationship recognition for LGBT people – making him even more conservative on LGBT issues than former President George W. Bush, who supported civil unions while in office. Romney views workplace protections for LGBT people as an “unfair burden on employers,” and he does not acknowledge the dignity and respect LGBT families deserve. As a signer of the National Organization for Marriage’s (NOM) “marriage pledge,” Mitt Romney has committed himself to vigorously pursuing a federal marriage amendment – a goal his running mate shares; defending the Defense of Marriage Act; and even setting up a McCarthy-like commission to investigate those who do not support NOM’s anti-LGBT views.

In the House, Ryan voted against hate crimes protections for LGBT people twice. He does not support marriage equality – in fact, he has twice supported the Federal Marriage Amendment that would ban loving, committed same-sex couples from marrying, and he supported a similar constitutional amendment in his home state of Wisconsin. Ryan does not support LGBT families – he voted in favor of banning gay and lesbian couples from adopting in the nation’s capital. He also voted against repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

An awesome find! The more they say, the more I like Ryan.

Today is the first time I've felt anything positive about the election, almost like a weight has been lifted from me.

Romney-Ryan Ticket Out of Touch with Americans on LGBT Equality

So... I'm not an "American" because I'm uncomfortable with homosexuals forcing themselves into every institution of society, including those specifically designed to protect vulnerable children?

I guess questioning the patriotism of those with whom you disagree is only a bad thing when my side does it.

Yep, it seems that the “LGBT” peoples are all about their sexual proclivities.

Interesting to see Ryan’s record on this. While the homosexual groups are shocked about all of this, publicizing this makes others happy that he has a good record on these issues.

When you talk about political firestorms, hot button issues, etc., these fights get picked by the left. The left decided to pick this societal fight about homosexual marriage. They could have had legal status through civil union or domestic partner type legislation. But, for whatever reason, they decided it had to be marriage or nothing for homosexuals.

We would not be seeing the same intensity of the battle over marriage, if the homosexuals were working to get domestic partner legislation passed. And we would not see the intensity, except that the homosexual activists decided to force it down our throats through the courts.

Hah!

You always had full equality, Dan Rafter.

You in the Lavender Mafia have been manipulating the legal system to award yourselves special rights.

While most Americans aren’t really anti-gay, they are pro-survival and when it comes to keeping their families in a home aren’t going to vote about who is going to give the gays what they want.

So Obama will get all the homosexual-friendly vote?

Good, then when Romney/Ryan are elected, they can effectively ignore the Homosexual Lobby, because that crowd voted for the other guy.

Judging by the degree of hyperventilation from the left, Rep. Ryan is an excellent VP choice.

HOMOSEXUAL, because there’s nothing GAY about it.

This will help the GOP, then. Because as Obama endorsed gay marriage, won’t defend DOMA, and the Dems put gay marriage plank on DNC, Ryan causes a sharp divide here compared to the lukewarmness of Romney.

Thanks for posting this. The article is a hoot. How many ways can you say, Ryan has no use for in-your-face queers?

he does not support the dignity of LGBT Americans;

Paul Ryan does not support LGBT families

Recent polling shows just how out-of-touch Ryan’s positions on LGBT equality are

Ryan voted against hate crimes protections for LGBT people twice.

He does not support marriage equality

he has twice supported the Federal Marriage Amendment

And, finally, just to be sure you’re not missing the point of this article,

Ryan does not support LGBT families (again)

Romney/Ryan need to point out that NO STATE has passed gay marriage where it was put to a vote OF THE PEOPLE.

They can also come out and defend the law of the land - The Defense of Marriage Act.

Goals of the so-called Human Rights Campaign include reducing age of consent (i.e., allowing child molestation) and removing all other moral proscriptions involving sexual behavior. We see them working to silence moral objections, even those founded on medical science. They relentlessly attack anyone who objects to their agenda (because it is indefensible).

These faggots think not getting special treatment means they don’t have equality. Their militant views are too extreme for this country.

Breaking news to the LGBT crowd: most Americans don’t like same-sex marriages being legally pushed on us. Why do you think when the President of Chick-fil-A supported traditional marriages every Chick-fil-A store experienced a giant bump up in business?

>> That miserable 1.8% of the population would not have voted Republican anyway

The Left has coopted the homosexual agenda as a tool in its destruction of the Country’s Conservative fabric. Not sure the entire 1.8% subscribes to the hostility.

>> HOMOSEXUAL, because there’s nothing GAY about it.

Agree.
