Barack Obama was swept to the White House in 2008 by a wave of idealism and inspirational campaigning in which he encapsulated the mood of the nation with his slogans of Hope, Change and Yes we can.
Then, his message was a fundamentally positive one. Americans wanted an end to the Bush era but that almost went without saying. Obama pointed to his own vision of the country; a post-partisan, post-racial America in which gridlock in Washington was ended and common-sense centrist solutions were adopted.
What a difference four years makes. Obama is campaigning ferociously for a second term and he is a candidate who would have probably have been disdained by the Obama of 2008.
Obama is waging a relentlessly negative campaign of changing the subject from the one that, overwhelmingly, most Americans care about the economy. Every week there is a new issue his campaign seizes on, preferring to talk about something, anything other than jobs and 8.3 per cent unemployment.
While Obama is still drawing sizable crowds, they are nothing like the size of those who flocked to see him in 2008. In Las Vegas, Obama held a rally in a high school before more than 2,000 people but there was space for plenty more.
On the outskirts of Manchester, New Hampshire on Monday morning, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan attracted more than 3,000 people who patiently queued in lines across a field to be searched by the Secret Service....

This story pretty much nails it. People were duped by Obama and read what they wanted to read into his leftist statements...
That’s changed now. They see him as he is.
And why, particularly , did everyone want an ‘’end to the Bush era’’? That part of the liberal narrative is never explained.
Pray tell, what would those be.
Pretty much sums up this clown: A Marxist whose policies have failed miserably and doesn't have the stones to admit it.
I do not have any doubt Romney will win this. It would be very historically instructive for nobama to take a world-class tossing to show future pols the futility of doing similar.
The guy spent political capital as fast as he spent tax payer money.
Because gas was under $2.00/gal. Because people had jobs. Because we were stopping the spread of World-wide terrorism. Because Israel was fairly safe. Because Racial discrimination was at an all time low. Because criminals in government were being rounded up and prosecuted. Because President Bush actually attended Church. Because President Bush was an American Citizen.

Well there's yer answer--it takes a lot longer to search a liberal than a conservative. Most of Obama's rally supporters are outside the venue getting strip searched, breathalyzed, and drug dog sniffed.
What McCain did was one of the stupidest moves a candidate could make. I think he wanted to show himself presidential and a leader. He came off as a total jack a**. Obama sure didn’t suspend his campaign and although he went back to the WH, he had to be dragged there.
If you go back and read just about any leftist tract, it starts off by demonizing capitalism, Western Civ, the white man, or whatever scapegoat is handy. It will go on to blame every misfortune and injustice on it.
It will then go on to say "we, on the other hand, will (fill in the blank)" and claim to cure every ill. While often short on details or proven track record, it usually boils down to redistribution, with, of course, the government skimming its share right off the top.
The current crop is no different, and neither are the results.
The ONLY difference between Obama and Sharpton and Farrakan is that he SMILES.....otherwise they are all race baiters and PUNKS.
This is a very good article.
Folks should definitely click through, because the pix with the column are worth 1000 words.
Except for the 47% of us who saw through him the last time.
Good sum up.
Bump for the article link. Thanks for posting.
Too long. How about this...
