re: “. . . lot of mouth on you for a newbie.”

Once upon a time there was a conservative man, let’s call him “Fred”, who was surfing the web back in 2002. Low and behold he came upon a website called, “Free Republic”. As Fred began to read the articles and postings on FreeRepublic, he realized that this was truly an honest-to-God conservative news/comment site. He LOVED it!

And so, back in 2002, Fred registered with FreeRepublic and came up with a Freeper moniker of his own.

Not long afterward, Fred told his wife about FreeRepublic and so, in the course of time, she checked it out as well.

Lo and behold she too loved FreeRepublic! And, since her husband had already registered, she just used his account name to reply to posts, as she didn’t reply as much as he did.

Fred and his wife were happy with FreeRepublic and their shared account.

Many, many years went by, and Fred decided that he wanted a Freeper account just for himself. So, in January of 2012, he created a new account and called himself, “Rusty Schucklefurd”.

The moral of the story is: Not everything is as it seems, and, be careful who you call a “newbie”.

re: “Why are you here?”

Is this a philosophical/metaphysical question (Like, “I pass gas therefore I am?”)?

re: “You think you are saving the world?”

Do I think I’m “saving the world”?? From what? I’m not Jesus if that’s what you mean.

Once upon a time...

...a mouthy newbie named rusty tried to pass himself off as an old timer, but alas, few bought his story because it sounded about as likely as Obama's.

Been here since 98.

I know. I was talking to the other guy. You know...the one who insulted you.

Sooo, if someone has been a Freeper for a long time and they say something immature and insulting, only other long time Freeper’s are allowed to give those same immature and insulting remarks their proper due?

I must have missed the post where the other guy insulted you. If I did, my apologies. Even a newbie has a right to return fire.

Little tip though. Returning fire with childish and insulting replies won't do much to build your rep around here. Good luck.

re: “I must have missed the post where the other guy insulted you. If I did, my apologies.”

I responeded to DManA’s insults to others posting on the thread. He told one Freeper to F.U. becaused they called him on one of his insults. He even insulted “Ronaldus Magnus” (Ronald Reagan) by saying Reagan was “creepy”.

The way I feel about it is, he can insult my car, my job, my house, my mother, but not Ronald Reagan - never!

So, while he did not directly insult me, after his Reagan comment I just could not hold back.

As to me replying with childish replies, actually I didn’t see them as “childish”, but rather as a means to give his “mature” remarks all the respect they deserved - nothing.

I get it that DManA doesn’t like Romney, but why slime Reagan?

Also, look at his posts on this thread, then honestly tell me his purpose was anything other than provoking a verbal fight.

re: “. . . childish and insulting replies won’t do much to build your rep around here.”

I disagree that my remarks were childish, but as for building up my reputation around here, well, I’m not too concerned with that. I appreciate that you softened your tone a bit in this last post, but I ask you - what would you do if someone called Reagan “creepy”? I thought for awhile that perhaps DMan was a troll.

I’m not a “newbie”, but even if I were, it would have made no difference in how I would have replied to DManA.

Just watched the speech. You know, this was really an excellent speech in every way. Content, delivery and impact. He seemed to build in intensity to the climax at the end. Persuasive lines. Memorable.

Looking forward to the inaugural address if this shows what Romney is able to do.
