Chris Matthews is feeling a tinkle, this time going down his leg.

That IS a good one. . .and bet he is feeling just that.

Thought it was a fine speech; and was irked that Chris Wallace's initial response was to 'first' excuse himself - at least for tonight - the things he did not like about it. Clearly; he wanted more. But we got that with Obama; 'Great Expectations' ET AL; and most of America, over that.

By contrast; thought Romney was great in 'low key' - and sincere. Mitt can articulate his vision/plan when debates come up. He can begin sooner; of course; but shedding a 'monster' image; by way of MSM was big enough task for tonight. We know most critically; he believes in America's 'free enterprise' system. (The economic MO; we had, before Obama.)

Almost funny that the WH response was 'not enough' i.e. 'no plan'; when all that the world has heard from Obama is 'just give me another chance'. . .

If we can't get behind this then we don't deserve to win. Then, we're the most dumb, stupid, idiotic people on earth, including the DUmp. for God's sake, people, get a clue. We have this to lose. Don't blow it.

Hear! Hear!

re: “All politicians are creepy to me. Even Reagan.”

Dude, what are you trying to do? It looks like you are just trying to pick a fight. If Reagan is “creepy” to you, what does that say about you? Go play somewhere else.

That’s what is known as a servant’s heart. Exactly, the right attitude for one who desires to be the President.

I wonder, how did his Dad run for President, even though he was born in Mexico?

I am in the:
“It was great—it did what it had to do.” camp.

Not the best speech ever, but the best I’ve heard from Romney. And the folks not liking Romney personally for whatever reason, well ... you are wrong. What came out tonight in the testimonials was the truth about what a decent, hard-working, caring and loving man Romney is. Putting politics aside, he’s a great individual.

Agree with:

“His cleverest device was to contrast Obama’s 2008 pledge to “heal the planet and stem the rise of the oceans” with a simple and believable “I promise to help you and your family.” “

It was great he mentioned freedom. including religious freedom, which for MSNBC was a ‘dog whistle’ about Obama’s attack on the catholic church and its liberty.

I would fault him a bit for softpedaling on Obama, talking more about people disappointed instead of just flat out “This man has failed you.” but he made up for it with “YOu deserve better! America deserves better!” and really nailing him on the better-off question... anyway, its not his job to be attack dog.

it was his job to lay out his vision, and he did his 5 point plan thing. That’s good like the energy independence and tax reform, etc. but it grates that Obamacare repeal is a subbullet on #5 - “repeal and replace Obamacare”. Repeal Obamacare should be its own item and Priority One. But that’s me.

So 8.5/10. Not a fire-and-brimstone burn-down-the-house oration, but a great wake-up-call and warm speech that hit it out of the park in terms of why Romney is way better than the failed Obama for the next 4 years.

It was a lot better than I expected it to be. I had always seen him as a vanilla type of person, no charisma, no emotion. But his speech had vitality and strong points to it, and he delivered it with more than a whimpy smile. I would give it an 8-9 on a scale of 10.

He expressed a strong love for this country, for America’s exceptionalism, he stated a pro-life position, a pro-military position, a pro-Israel position and pro-job creation position. He praised the idea of success is a good thing. He focused on the economy and not only how bad it is but how it can be righted with a pro-business administration. He also touched on the national debt.

He mocked Obama with the oceans/tide bit and healing of the land. He also attacked Obama’s dismal leadership and total lack of job experience.

I think the speeches, prior to his acceptance speech, and the videos highlighting his business acumen showed a stark contrast to what we have in the White House now and should provide a clear difference in the two candidates.

It was just wonderful! I now like homos, homos as Boy Scout leaders, homos adopting children, gun control, and Romneycare for all! And, it’s wonderful he took over the Republican Party by violating the rules so he is now the dictator owner of the Party! Life has never been so wonderful! /s

Totally agree. And when people say they are “creeped out” by his appearance, it's funny you brought up Washington. It is said where he is painted as having “rosy cheeks” there were really severe pock marks from having survived smallpox as a child. So if we had TV back then, would we have not voted for him?

And I don't think Romney looks creepy, but I think Obama is creepy. Now I'm probably a racist.

It’s odd because Romney is one of the least creepy people out there. They guy is a total and complete square, a powerpont geek, and clearly a family guy. The kind of guy you’d want as your rich uncle or next door neighbor.

I live in SoCal. I am not convinced Obama will carry the Hispanic community to a great enough extent to assure that our State will be safe for him. But then again I’ve always been a glass is half full kind of guy to a ridiculous extent.
