Mitt Romney emerged from the Republican convention with an overall improvement in his image among voters but no significant change in the number who say they will vote for him, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Friday.
Republicans nominated Romney on Thursday after three days of testimonials from friends, relatives and supporters, many aimed at showing the candidate in a more informal light. Romney has struggled to shake off perceptions of being stiff and aloof.
The four-day rolling poll has Democratic President Barack Obama still leading Romney in general favorability, 52 percent to 50 percent.
But the poll showed Romney steadily improving in likeability and other positive-image features.
Thirty-one percent of the registered voters responding to the survey found Romney "likeable" in Friday's poll, up from Monday's 26 percent. Obama enjoys a 48 percent likeability rating.
"The Republicans had the task at the convention of making their candidate more palatable, likeable to the American electorate," said Ipsos pollster Julia Clark. "Our data suggests they have absolutely succeeded."
Especially notable was Romney's boost among independents, 45 percent of whom rated him favorably, compared with Thursday's 34 percent...

This is good.
Agreed. This is very good.
Two weeks from now, when the buzz from both conventions has died down, we should have a real good idea of who is going to triumph in November.
If we can use a massive advertising blitz to knock the Kenyan’s favorables down while (hopefully) keeping Romney’s image relatively clean, we will win this.
“Barack Obama still leading Romney in general favorability, 52 percent to 50 percent.”
HUH?? 52 + 50 = 102%
Kind of like the 57 states.
This is advantageous in reaching swing voters. Of course, the Ministry of Truth is not about to let on to the masses that Romney is a stand up guy.
It’s fascinating that the Obamapress is suddenly focused on “likeability” polls, as if the election is a beauty contest. I guess this is because this is the only poll their guy is winning.
Everybody should keep a close eye on this one, as I’m sure we’re going to be hearing more and more about “likeability” as it looks more and more like Obama is going to lose.
I don’t think the question is who do you like more for this poll. I think it is do you find Obama favorable..yes or no and then do you find Romney favorable...yes or no. 52% when asked if they found Obama favorable said yes. When asked if they found Romney favorable 50% said yes. Clear as mud now right?
You hit the nail on the head. The RNC was a ROARING success. The only low point was that awkward tag-team Pam Bondi did.... yeah... but besides that, this was the BEST convention in decades. Though you wouldn’t know it from the race-baiting and strategic cutting done by our MSM butchers. I just hope more people C-Spanned it than usual. Better to forget pundits altogether, and Shepard Smith’s annoying HOUR-LONG weather updates were the most tedious things I have ever seen. I wanted to hear the speeches, not watch a closet-case in a baseball cap getting rained on!
After watching his convention speech, I will no longer need to hold my nose when I vote for him.
He came across as a very nice family man, as well as a man with a good business head. I was impressed.
Have you heard of the other documentary that is coming out this week? Not “2016” but the one called “The Hope and The Change”. They had a “special” Hannity show tonight and spent the entire hour (after his first hourly broadcast) on this documentary. IT IS DYNAMITE!!! The creators and producers of the documentary are negotiating for TV time for a showing before the Election.
The polls are separate. Like or don’t like each candidate.
Romney went up 12 points since the last poll I saw on this.
Obama is arrogant and annoying to me. But he continues to score high. I think some jabs that exposé his thin skin and temper during the debates should happen.
Libs are in meltdown. Very positive RNC. Huge bounce. Appeal to independents.

I watched most of it on C-SPAN. I am still pissed at Sean Hannity. I could not wait to hear Ted Cruz speak and Hannity had to interview somebody during Ted’s speech. Sometimes I think he has just got to run his mouth.
I was so impressed with Romney speech at the RNC. He came across as a very likeable and sincere person. Romney commanded the speech very much like Reagan, as if Reagan spirit jumped in Romney body. It was one of those times you can say.... He going to be the next President of the United States!!
p.s. I wish he could have expressed himself this way at the beginning of the campaign. He has won me over.
Libs are in total meltdown. If they thought they would win they wouldn’t resort to the type of tactics they have been using recently. Haven’t you heard, they have added a new word to the “GOP Racist Code Word” list, its now “Chair.” Yep, chair is racist, this reminds me of Pee Wee’s Playhouse whenever Pee Wee would hear the secret word, he would scream real loud LOL.
The left has become a joke, this is what they have to resort to, its laughable, they are not a party, they are a joke
Romney gets a huge infusion of cash now that his convention is over. Watch out Boy King
It's a Leftist thing - when they need an extra percent or two, they just manufacture it. It's like districts where the voter turnout is 110% of the population, never mind the actual registered voters...
