Romney finds his message for the final sprint
The Washington Post's Right Turn ^ | September 19, 2012 | Jennifer Rubin

The Romney-Ryan campaign is going all in with its critique of President Obama’s dependency society. In a rare memo from campaign manager Matt Rhodes, the campaign tells us:

Mitt Romney’s vision for America is an opportunity society, where free people and free enterprise thrive and success is admired and emulated, not attacked. President Obama’s vision for America is a government-centered society, where government grows bigger and more active, occupying more of our everyday lives.

In a newly-unearthed set of remarks, we can hear Barack Obama in his own words advocating for government as a means to redistribute wealth:

“[T]he trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution because I actually believe in redistribution, at least at a certain level to make sure everybody’s got a shot.”

Mitt Romney has a very different idea. He knows that we need to foster growth and create wealth, not redistribute wealth, if our economy is to grow the way it has in the past.

We don’t have to look far to see the failure of President Obama’s approach. We can look at his record. First came the stimulus — and nearly a trillion dollars of government spending later, the unemployment rate is almost 3 percentage points higher than where President Obama projected it would be.

Then came Obamacare. Even though it has yet to take effect, businesses are already grappling with the new taxes, regulations, controls, and bureaucracies that are impeding hiring and adding to our uncertainty...

According to Rasmussen today and the last few days, Romney is up nationally, and up in the “swing state poll”. With regards to individual states, Romney is up both in NH and CO (!), as well as up big in both NC and MO.

If you live and die by Rasmussen (like I do....), then things are going ok.

Still need to see a bump in VA,OH and FL.

Romney needs to carpet bomb the airwaves with this choice - a vote for Obama is for dependency, a vote for him is for indenpendence. It is that simple.

That should be the slogan, repeated ad nauseum from here through Nov. 6.

Right now, the only message Romney should have is that the economy is terrible under Obama and will be better under Romney. I am far more strongly opposed to welfare statism than Romney is, but all voters are concerned about right now is the economy - they're looking for an alternative who can convince them he can fix the economy. Talking about everything but the economy isn't going to get Romney elected.

It would not surprise me one bit if the media refuses to run his adds. It has already started in away with NBC/MSNBC refusing to air Obama’s redistribution video.

Mittens’ boring campaign, to date, is too reminiscent of Kerry’s ‘04 campaign in which he had a plan for every situation, but no details.

While releasing some details of his vision for America could be a major boost to what is, so far, one of the dullest presidential election cycles in recent memory, he needs to take the gloves off and take the campaign to zero. This is the part I don’t get - does zero have enough dirt on everyone in America that we’re all supposed to be afraid of him?

So far, no one is really willing to take off the gloves and REALLY get down to brass tacks with either zero or ANY of the leftists. Sometime, we have GOT to stop pretending that we are the good guys in the white hats and take the fight to the Dems.

Like the ‘06 mid-terms when there wasn’t a dime’s worth of difference between Dems and ‘Pubbies, in this election, it is hard to know what Romney really supports and what he plans to do. He has already back-tracked on striking down ZeroCare but, other than that, we have a lot of words with no vision and no details.

It’s time for him to start putting some cards on the table.

I call!!

You know, if this released tape of Romney ends up being the springboard for Mitt to go on narrative offense and seal the deal, I’ll laugh really hard.

Why? Because another useless CARTER, in a long tradition of family screw-ups, will end up being partially responsible for another Repub victory.

I’m giggling already just thinking about it.

[ And finally, Romney’s campaign might do well to tell his surrogates, staff and supporters to buck up, ignore 90 percent of the media coverage (this is evergreen advice) and hammer his message, not the media narrative. Whatever the question, the answer is: Obama’s way didn’t work, and here’s how the Romney-Ryan plan will. ]

I hope the Romney campaign reads this!

If Romney wins, there is hope for the U.S. It will prove the majority of people know and understand the MSM has lied over and over again to protect their Obama investment.

I agree. Now is the time for Romney to “go for broke” and really expose Obama as a statist, a collectivist and a redistributor of wealth. And throw in his wrecking of the economy, high gas prices, high unemployment.

There is so much material to use, it should be a cakewalk for R&R.

Bizarre, there is nothing Reagan like in the man who despised Reagan and left the GOP because of him and his conservatives’s.

The liberal Romney family is getting enough revenge against conservatism, don’t try to give them the actual man himself.

Can’t lose if you talk about freedom versus dependency.

And if that’s his message and he delivers it and the population votes in the marxist, then it’s time to hunker down and wait for the worse to come.

Nothing we can do about it if more than 50% of the population wants socialism/communism, at least not via the voting booth.
