Romney: I'm not giving up on Pennsylvania

WAYNE, Pa. With 39 days until the election, Mitt Romney on Friday spent precious time campaigning in Pennsylvania, a state he hadn't visited in more than two months and where polls show him trailing President Obama by an average of 8 percentage points.

Brushing aside the numbers, the Republican nominee told a crowd of several hundred people at the Valley Forge Military Academy & College that Obama is taking the state for granted.

"I've got a little secret here and that is that the Obama campaign thinks Pennsylvania is in their pocket -- they don't need to worry about it." Romney said to a chorus of boos. "And you're right and they're wrong; we're going to win Pennsylvania."

It was the third day in a row that Romney has campaigned with members of the military. He kept his focus largely on matters of importance to the defense community, hitting the president for referring to the recent unrest in the Middle East as a "bump in the road" and telling the audience that proposed defense cuts in the sequestration bill could have a large impact in their state.

"Someone has calculated how many jobs will be lost in Pennsylvania if those trillion dollars in cuts go through," Romney said. "It's 39,000 jobs. We can't afford that."

Romney told the group he would not cut the military's budget and would instead increase the amount of troops, Navy ships, and aircraft...

I’ll never forget that Sports Illustrated once did a little piece on the “worst places to play” as a visiting team. Philly wasn’t in the top ten. Then they had a big asterisk: “Philadelphia: nobody else comes close.”

I was there today at Valley Forge Military Academy for the Romney rally. The turnout was incredible. A third of the crowd was not able to get into the building and they provided an overflow area outside the venue. I was part of the overflow. Romney came out and spoke to us after his stump speech. He did a great job - seems to be getting more aggressive in his message as he didn’t pull any punches.

I know an empty-nester couple in the Philadelphia suburbs who have never voted for a Republican, and likely are registered Dems, who this time around will vote enthusiastically for Romney, and intentionally against Obama, whom they were wild about four years ago.

2012 is not 2008.

Then put your money where your mouth is. Let’s see some ads!

Is he running ads anywhere? My sister's only seen one in VA and I've seen zero in PA. Hope to hell they know what they're doing.

Although the GOP should take a big hit for dropping the ball. They still don't have signs in VA and we just got ours in yesterday. And where's the GOP's ads? Possibly their worst offense is sending out email saying Romney was in Wayne, PA THE DAY AFTER!! He could have had a huge turnout here.

I don't know if they're just a bunch of imbeciles or what but someone better get it together quick.

Romney could win anywhere. He shouldn’t give up on any voters.
