In 1964 you would have joined in taking a stand against the republican nominee and conservatism at the GOP convention, while they were running against LBJ?

You would have run for president as a republican in 1967 to defeat Reagan and Nixon, and move the party left?

He barely carried his own state.

And Romney will be lucky to do the same.

That's what I love about you fake conservatives, there is absolutely no democrat level you wont sink to. No lie you won't tell yourselves, and no fact you won't ignore.

Moderates are nothing but lying, manipulative, bottom feeding scum.

I have an even lower opinion of "moderates" than democrats. At least democrats have the courage to admit what they are.

The issue you keep ignoring is about 1964.

After repeated responses from you, I have to believe that you are for LBJ of 1964 over Goldwater in 1964.

You also keep ignoring that George Romney and the Romney family, and Mitt Romney not only opposed the republicans and conservatism in 1964, but in 1968, and in every election, because they are liberals themselves.

Being liberal is why Mitt Romney left the GOP, opposed Reagan, opposed a conservative Senate, opposed the Contract with America, and became a democrat financial supporter, fund raiser, and voter.

Do real conservatives procure abortions for their daughters, argue for homosexuals in the military, demand homosexual marriage, decry Christians as kooks, and support the nomination of liberal justices like Sandra Day O’Connor? Oh, and screw up a major election because they don’t know how to run a campaign?

Mitt Romney, was the lifelong pro-abortion warrior, not 1964 Goldwater, Mitt Romney was the man calling for homosexualizing the military as part of his political campaign, not 1964 Goldwater, Mitt Romney was the Governor who introduced "gay marriage" to the nation, not 1964 Goldwater, Bishop Mitt Romney is the religious leader who has devoted his life and 10s of millions of his personal fortune to destroying Christianity, not 1964 Goldwater, Mitt Romney is the Governor who ONLY appointed liberal judges, and only 25% of them were even republicans, not 1964 Goldwater.

Mitt Romney "One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clinton’s “don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t pursue” military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share."

You just keep ignoring my posts and are nonresponsive to them, for instance post 68.

Mitt has done more evil than Goldwater ever dreamed of, Bishop Romney has devoted his life and 10s of millions of dollars to pursuing Christians to leave Christ and join an anti-Christian cult.

Goldwater doesn't have different vintages in a conversation about Governor George Romney and his intern son making a formal protest against the nominee and the conservative wing of the GOP at the actual 1964 convention, try to focus on the conversation of 1964 and George Romney.

You also keep ignoring that George Romney and the Romney family, and Mitt Romney not only opposed the republicans and conservatism in 1964, but in 1968, and in every election, because they are liberals themselves.

You keep ignoring the facts and thoroughness of my posts, because you know that it matters a lot in learning the politics of Mitt.

Bishop Romney is unique in our history, he will be the first high ranking religious leader to be a president, a leader within a cult, a leader who had the power to excommunicate members, and who sought the personal permission of his Holy Prophet, before he would even run for president.

Bishop Romney is already thought to have received the second anointment, and is thought by many of his fellow cult members to be the fulfillment of the “White Horse Prophecy”.

I see no reason to hide such extraordinary information about this powerful religious figure, why do you?

Romney says that his family became pro-abortion in 1963. “Many, many years ago, I had a dear, close family relative that was very close to me who passed away from an illegal abortion. It is since that time [1963] that my mother and my family have been committed to the belief that we can believe as we want, but we will not force our beliefs on others on that matter.”

That may or may not be what they thought and how they expressed it at the time. It does sound a bit like a later formulation. And their point of view may not have been so different from that of other Republicans at the time, including many who were or became quite conservative.

“I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country; I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a U.S. Senate candidate,” Romney said.

He may have said it. She may have thought it. But evidence doesn't confirm that she ran as an abortion-on-demand candidate or on a pro-abortion platform.

Romney was born into politics, at the Governor and presidential level. Romney was political in 1979 and rejected the GOP that chose Reagan.

I haven't seen any evidence that Romney was politically active in an anti-Reagan or anti-Republican way in those years. Later on, he tried the William Weld strategy of running to the left of his Democrat opponent, but where's the evidence of anti-Reaganism during the Reagan years? This idea that because someone's father was a governor or presidential candidate one has to be highly political throughout all of one's life, just doesn't fly.

Yep, that is what they embraced, and conservatives did not.

Yep, Mitt the second presidential candidate in a row from the family, proudly tells us the details that he knows personally of his and his family's life and politics.

Yep, he left the GOP because of Reagan, and campaigned on being against Reagan, and has named William Weld as his mentor, as the closest to him in politics. Romney has never not been political.

Romney says that his family became pro-abortion in 1963. Yep, that is what they embraced, and conservatives did not.

Times change. Plenty of Republicans wanted liberalized laws on birth control. Sometimes very conservative Republicans like the Goldwaters. Even Ronald Reagan signed a very liberal abortion bill into law. After Roe vs. Wade a lot of them changed their minds. It can be hard to get back through 40 years of heated political rhetoric to what people actually thought back then.

As an example, when restrictions on birth control devices was being debated in the early 1960s, Catholic cardinals like Cushing and Spellman said that they wouldn't "impose [their Church's position] position upon those of other faiths.' Would they have thought the same a decade later with abortion on demand imposed by Roe?

Yep, Mitt the second presidential candidate in a row from the family, proudly tells us the details that he knows personally of his and his family's life and politics.

He might know about his mother's personal beliefs, But he was out of state during the campaign and his memory might have been effected by things that happened later. Shouldn't the memories of the people who worked on the campaign be taken into account as well?

Yep, he left the GOP because of Reagan, and campaigned on being against Reagan, and has named William Weld as his mentor, as the closest to him in politics.

But Weld was a Reagan appointee and supporter. It might be strange that Bill Weld supported Reagan, yet tried to run to the left of John Silber, the Democrat, or supported Obama in 2008, but politics (as they say) makes strange bedfellows.

Romney has never not been political.

That's an opinion. Maybe even a projection. I doubt Romney was especially political in the years when he was mostly interested in making money.

You didn’t really say anything, you merely meander with your own personal self serving devotions to Romney and speculations, which don’t match the facts.

You even worked the lifelong, pro-life Reagan in there as you try to defend Mitt’s lifelong devotion to abortion and liberal politics.
