Republican Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney is scheduled to speak at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 on the Shawnee State University (SSU) Alumni Green.

“This is exciting,” said Kay Reynolds, County Chairwoman for the Romney Ryan campaign.

She said since the news broke of the visit late Tuesday, she has been getting phone calls asking about details, tickets and yard signs....

Good area for Mitt & Ryan. Blue Collar and farm area on both sides of the river. When Obama said clinging to God and Guns, he meant this area. The whole region from Huntington, Ashland, Ironton and Portsmouth was built on steel and coal. Not much of those industries left.

FYI the Portsmouth Trojans was an early NFL team. Moved to Detroit and became the Lions we know today.

There was a program on C-SPAN the other day about Syria with various experts. One of the participants was someone who teaches history at Shawnee State University, Amr Al-Azm. Apparently he is from Syria but was educated in England—teaches history and has done archaeological work (interested in topics like Genghis Khan and the Mamluks). He came across as reasonable and well-informed on the program.

Sorry I meant Spartans. Trojans are the High School team. When I was in high school we would play them in Spartan Stadium.
