Worst case scenario for Romney in winning the election

Posted on 10/22/2012 11:58:57 AM PDT by Viper652

If he were to win in a squeaker, all he has to do is win in Colorado, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin.

That really raises my confidence sky high after playing with the map and seeing that.

Wisconsin might be a little tougher for Romney than Ohio. I feel good about Romney winning Ohio by about 75,000 votes.

I agree. I think Ohio is more likely than Wisconsin, but this is a nice plan B. Wisconsin has a couple things going for it....home to Paul Ryan, home to the RNC Chair and the GOTV apparatus used in the whole recall debacle.

Ohio is getting utterly pummeled with Obama campaign money, so it seems to be lagging the Romney trends seen in almost every other swing state. He’s still pulled up to even, but FL, VA, CO and other look to be almost certain Romney states while OH is stubbornly staying close.

A good point was made earlier...with Ohio’s loss of two electoral votes, there are other options than Ohio to get 270. It is still a critical state, and one that Romney likely needs to win, but if it is razor close in Ohio, it is good to see some other pathways to 270.

No, the REAL squeaker, would be Nevada and Iowa, which brings him to 269, and then he probably wouldn’t even need the GOP house to install him, since he’s likely to peel one electoral vote from Maine (they split it, and he’s likely to win one congressional district) to bring him to 270!

I can just see how a Romney-Senate-House Trifecta will be reported as a call for Power Sharing by the American people by the press..

Sounds to me like this election will be a bout between PRODUCERS and PARASITES.

The worst case scenario is 0 winning the election. Everything else is a step up from that.

At this point I see Zero and his minions counting on multiple voters, the Mickey Mouses and Donald Ducks, and the dead to vote in significant numbers.

And don't forget about recount challenges, where the Dem always gets a few more votes each time they recount (where do those votes come from, if not counted initially?), and they stop recounting as soon as the Dem has more votes than the Repub.

Why do they stop recounting? Each time they recount, there are more votes, so keep recounting until all the votes have really been counted! I guess the Dems don't want people to realize that by the time their guy has enough votes to win, there are more votes than voters.

It’s not going to be that close. The economy is too bad for Obama to win. Romney will be a terrible president and do untold damage to the country, but he will be president by January whateverth.

When the GOP had a 50/50 senate with Cheney owning the 51st vote, they wimpily offered to "share power". As Lott himself put it ""We're not gonna act like winners, we're not gonna rub their noses, genuine power share, we're gonna give an equal number of positions on committees, we're not gonna have a committee chairman, we're not gonna do all this." Great.

Then just a few months later Jim Jeffords jumped parties and the Democrats had 51 so they kept to the power sharing agreement, right? Right? Uh, no. They went all in with Bush bashing Tom Daschle/Harry Reid/Nancy Pelosi attack machines 24x7 and worked overtime to kill everything the GOP tried to do.

The RINO leadership is on triple secret probation with me already. If they throw away the gains of the 2010 and (with your scenario) 2012 elections by agreeing to share power with the democrats it will be the last straw for me. At that point, I might just finally go third party.

Doubt it.

Under a President Romney, the economy will be growing at 3 plus percent within a year, abortions will decrease dramatically (due to Planned Parenthood losing more funding and Federal dollars being removed from the abortion arena) AND the gay marriage issue will be on the downslide.

In addition, we will be on he offense again in the WOT.

This does not add up to "terrible President".

No, his governance as President will not be the same.

An executive will govern differently in a Federal role where conservatives have largely swept him into office than he will in an overwhelmingly (85%) ultra-liberal state.

Ex: Several of Romney's provisions in the MA healthcare law were overturned by a super-majority legislature after passage. That will NOT happen w/ a GOP House.

Romney’s going to, “read my lips,” raise taxes and unleash vast new social programs. Where do you get that Planned Parenthood would lose tax dollars. If anything, pro-choice Romney will give them more. Plus, he has no Republican party to stop him.

Indeed. The sad thing is that even if the entire Congress were Republican, Senate and House of Representatives both, I would have no faith that they would oppose Romney.
