On Wednesday, Greta put up a poll asking her readers who they thought, at this moment, was the leader of the Republican Party. Readers responded by choosing Sarah Palin by an overwhelming margin over the rest of the field.
Reading the comments it’s pretty plain that many feel Sarah could have fared far better against President Obama than Governor Mitt Romney did. Judging how well Sarah’s hand picked candidates for office did, vs how those in the standard GOP mold under-performed, it’s not much of a stretch to think Sarah herself would have done well and likely led the party to victory.
It’s also clear, reading those comments, that Greta’s readers would like to see Sarah Palin run for President in 2016. It’s way too early to speculate what Sarah will do, and it’s probably best not to speculate until she, herself says something, but I’m one of those who is 100% on board with the idea of a her running.
We need strong leadership from a GOP candidate, and for the last two elections, we’ve had no leadership at all. Timidity cannot defeat evil, and we are staring evil right in the face. We need a warrior at the helm.

Speaker Newt Gingrich 3.18% (180 votes)
I’d be curious to learn why Speaker of the House John Boehner rates so high. Maybe some readers took the question literally, as Boehner is the highest ranking Republican in office. It’s just that seeing Boehner and “leader” mentioned together somehow seems wrong to me.
Readers would rather see someone, anyone besides Chris Christie or Newt Gingrich leading the party. I agree.
The poll isn’t scientific in any way, but Greta’s blog is popular with a wide range of people from all points of view, and likely represents the feelings of many, if not most of the GOP faithful.
Bleh. Just more of the same. We’ve gotta start considering different approaches to this problem.
We need a new Speaker of the House. Boehner needs to go.
My favorite replacements would be either: Allen West or Sara Palin

Sarah Palin and her progeny have devalued the Palin name by participating in reality shows.

Right. Sarah Palin, who did absolutely nothing to either be a candidate herself or support another candidate and shape opinion.
Sorry, I thought she was wonderful the first time around, but I think she’s bailed on doing the hard work and is moving into the personality level. That’s ok, she can be a personality, but she’s not going to be a serious political force ever again.

She’s pretty much the only one left that I trust. I’m frankly to the point of wishing she’d lead the way to a new, genuinely conservative party.
The GOP, already champing at the bit for amnesty and homo-marriage crap, can go burn in hell where it belongs.
Palin isn't even a representative.

Yeah, she is. She divides conservatives from RINOs and their fellow liberals.
Palin doesn’t seem to want it. She hasn’t taken any official leadership roles. She hasn’t run for office. She only occasionally shows up for commentary lately.
People need to quit hoping for someone to change things when it seems as though that person doesn’t want the job.
When Palin was just an average citizen and saw problems, she didn’t hope for someone else to come in and do something, she started doing it herself. She ran for school board, then mayor... and so on.
Follow the example she set which is very different than hoping she leads.
I think Scott Walker is very good for state issues, just like I think my Florida governor, Rick Scott, is great for that. Despite being neither photogenic nor a great speaker, he’s done well.
But I don’t see either of them moving out of state politics very successfully. I could see them as cabinet members for a winning GOP candidate...but who is that person?
Which is why so many of us would love it if Palin stepped up to the plate. It IS that "different approach" that the GOP doesn't have the stones to attempt. The closest we got to trying that "different approach" with Palin was when she was VP offering to uber-lemon McCain, who got more Republicans to vote for his ticket in 2008 than Romney-Ryan did in 2012.

I would greatly prefer Sarah to Obama as President.
However, IMO if she had been the nominee she would have presided over a landslide defeat of historic proportions and perhaps have lost the GOP control of the House.
I have been forced to recognize the unpleasant fact that most of my fellow American don’t agree with me.
I have no idea what’s wrong with them, the fools. :)
It seems to me that Palin is not interested in either starting a party or even being an elected representative at any level in the future. It may be family problems, it may be that she chickened out, but whatever it was, she doesn’t want to be anybody’s standard bearer.
So we need to move on. Find somebody with principles, support them locally, and educate your neighbors.
Sarah Palin is a TV commentator and sometimes realityTV personality (along with he daughter). She is not the leader of the Republican party in any way, shape or form. She makes good money doing what she currently does and I am sure she will stick with it.
Meh....I’m not gonna get on board that train. She had her chance, she demurred. Cheerleader - yes...candidate - NO.
We have to retake this country; it will require ruthlessness, cunning and connivance. She is not the one.
