Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) joined MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts on Wednesday to applaud strict new gun laws passed by the New York State legislature and signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo this week. He said that he was glad that the legislature, and the federal government, were doing something in the wake of the murder of children and teachers in Newtown, Connecticut. He noted, however, that New York is more progressive than some places and some regions, particularly the American South, have cultures that we have to overcome in order to enact stricter national gun laws.
This is not Constitutional rights, this is common sense, Rangel said referring to new gun laws in New York state. We know that those people that incorporated the right to bear arms was not talking about the slaughter of children thats happened in Newtown, Connecticut.
Do you think that New York and what has been done in this state could be used as a role model for other states that would like to enact something of New Yorks model? Roberts asked...

Here's some common sense for you Charlie: Some States have cultures that glorify crime and the use of firearms to commit them. You know, to get some street cred. Where the moral decay is such that it's considered OK to commit crime. How about working to overcome that Charlie.

The founders were not envisioning a country where gays are “married” in the national cathedral either

The Jews were nowhere near 78% of the German population in 1933. We are. How does one tyrannize an armed-to-the-teeth majority without their acquiescence? Sure, dumbing-down our children in left-wing union schools since the late 1960’s, along with the boob tube, rap/hip-hop, movies and all that have helped their efforts. But there are still tens-of-millions who won't stand for it. Ever notice that determined, armed populations in Afghanistan, Iraq and Vietnam kept the most powerful military in the world from what they wanted to do? If third-world peasants can do it, what will modern first-world people be capable of?
