Chicago Alderman: Put GPS Tracking Devices On All Guns
Breitbart TV / CBS ^ | January 18, 2013

CHICAGO (CBS) – A South Side alderman is asking for City Council hearings on an unorthodox gun control measure that would allow for GPS tracking of firearms. WBBM Newsradio Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports Ald. Willie Cochran (20th), a former police officer, has suggested that global positioning system chips be embedded in new guns, and retrofitted on existing firearms, so they could be located if they go missing.

“Just like if your car gets stolen, OnStar can tell you where your car is. If your gun gets stolen, and you report it, we should be able to find that gun,” he said.

Cochran has introduced a resolution asking the Committee on Public Safety to hold hearings to receive testimony on the matter. A Massachusetts state senator from Boston has been pushing a similar measure in that state. Cochran acknowledged it might be expensive to install GPS chips on current and future firearms, but not as expensive as the cost of gun violence to society.

“Let’s measure what it costs in hospital costs, lost wages, deaths,” he said.

As for the privacy of gun owners who could be tracked with the GPS chips in their guns, Cochran said, “safety is … a much more important issue than is privacy.” (continued)

Let's imbed the owner with the chip and when he touches the gun, it will send an alert to the nearest police station that dude is on the move. Of course, he's only going to work this particular day....but you never know.

And thats the real problem....you never know!!!

Hey why stop there? Have a remote deactivation control “feature” built into the weapon so the feds could remotely deactivate a weapon upon demand whenever they want.

Possible remote deactivation conditions might include
- ANNUAL registration renewal is not secured
- healthcare results and/or info doctors provide the feds
- gun owner does not pay their taxes
- individual moves into a red state or state that does not comply with federal gun regulations
- individual donates money to NRA or conservative organizations deemed to be gun control unfriendly
- individual brings weapon into a “gun free” zone
etc etc

And Lobbyists! Further explosive charges are installed on both as well and if a Lobbyist Tracker gets within 10 feet of a Politician Tracker (and or calls one another on the phone) the explosives discharge and a Special Election is held to fill the vacancy!

Yes, Mr. Alderman, it IS just like that. Who wants a car with spyware pre-installed? No one? Hmm -- what does that tell you about the prospects for this "bright" idea?

Yeah, make them be folks beloved in their districts. If Congress is not in session, they have to be in their home district, keeping regular office hours.

A decent translation of KGB is Office (kabinet) of State Security.

A funny word play is that Russians used to call it the Office of Crude Bandits, using the same letters KGB in Russian.

Guys like John Conyers would be restricted to a 20 or 30 square mile area if that.
