Texas Official Invites NY Gun Owners to Lone Star State
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | January 18, 2013 | William Bigelow

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is rolling out the welcome mat for New Yorkers who would like to keep their guns—and their money.

Abbott used his campaign money to produce and place ads on media websites in New York City and Albany encouraging residents to move to Texas. Why? To avoid the severe gun restrictions put into place by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, as well as the high income taxes of the Empire State.

One ad reads: "WANTED: Law abiding New York gun owners seeking lower taxes and greater opportunities." If the viewer clicks on the ad, the link goes to a Facebook page extolling the advantages of moving to Texas, such as the lack of an income tax which would enable people to “keep more of what you earn and use that extra money to buy more ammo."

Abbott minced no words courting New Yorkers, saying:

Texas is better than New York, and New York just gave us another excuse to say that…

I really dislike you guys. I get stuck with over $4000 on 5 acres. It seems the state comptroller decided that my county is a “rich” county, so we should pay more for the other counties. Robin Hood is alive and well in Texas.

You must be closer to a city, probably Austin. Montgomery County is growing by leaps and bounds. Land values are still sweet here and soon will be good investments.

Get some goats and chickens, plant some fruit trees, and claim an ag exemption on the area not around the house.

I didn't realize dad hadn't done that until after he was dead. He could have saved thousands in property taxes. Sister that got that property did so, asap, but she put llamas and an alpaca on it. I discrecommend that.

The 3 months of 100+ degree days can surely discourage a lot recent arrivals, hard-core Yankees included I suppose. The armadillos — not so much.

I agree.

With respect to the few conservatives that live in NYC proper, I don't want “their kind” in Texas.

Sure, they may want to keep their guns, and enjoy our prosperity, but, I don't want New Yorkers here.

I view New York folks kind of like I view Islamists. Sure, we may get along on a few points, I may even like you - but you just weren't raised right. Sooner or later, you'll want to change Texas into the same sort of cesspool you escaped.

Please remember, I said with respect to the conservatives in NY.

Nobody likes RobinHood.

But we’re working on it as you well know.

It was the libs in Austin that started that BS, with the help of Dubya.

I’ve been after the Mississippi Department of Economic Development to get after Remington Arms fast. The new laws of NY make the production of the rifles and handguns that Remington Arms makes illegal to produce and sell in NY. A move to Mississippi would bring in several hundred jobs plus the NY people that would come with Remington to Mississippi to set up and facilitate the production. Several years ago one of my clients from Mississippi went to Remington to streamline their operation and make it more profitable. Its about time for Remington to realize that in Mississippi they can be welcome and have the intelligence to produce and make a profit.

$10,000 a year is the median property tax bill in Westchester county (just north of NYC). We also have some of the highest housing prices, sales tax and state income taxes.

I know plenty of people who pay at least $12,000 per year and not for a large house.

We in Indiana have dibs on Remington. We’ve been good at poaching companies from Illinois and Ohio so time to expand.

Don't let it bother you, Onona.

I'm from California, and relocated to Texas seven years ago. I couldn't believe the wonderful reception my family and I got when we moved in, despite the fact that we were from 'the land of fruits, nuts, and flakes'.

Trust me, all conservatives are more than welcome here, no matter where they're from.

Diid youread the “with all respect to conservatives part”?

Really now, if you want to move to Texas, at least know when or when not to take insult. ;-)

Well, gee, I guess I take it back then. Dubya never supported Robin Hood as Governor or President.

Glad that is settled.

I am a Yankee. But, I assure you, I am as conservative as you. Some of us Yankees are as conservative as you, we are just stuck in businesses that we own and cannot leave libtardia just yet.

“Texas Official Invites NY Gun Owners to Lone Star State”

They ought to be inviting the gun -makers-, such as Kimber (in the Bronx) and Smith & Wesson (in Springfield, MA). There’s a few in Illinois, too.

Entice them out of the blue states and into the red states.
