Karl Rove: My new group isn’t out to get the tea party, I swear
Hot Air ^ | 2-6-2013 | Allahpundit

Posted on 02/06/2013 9:03:14 AM PST by Sir Napsalot

From last night’s “Hannity,” here’s the man himself responding to that NYT piece that set conservative media (and grassroots fundraisers) on fire. He’s eager to note how many tea-party candidates he’s supported in the past, both through American Crossroads and his own checkbook, but there’s still no answer to the key question: ......

But then, we’re assuming that Rove’s main goal, and American Crossroads’s goal more broadly, is to boost establishment candidates. Is it? ....

Some donors will walk away, but not all. And by backing the most “electable” candidate in every primary, CPV now has a prefab defense to future losses: They can’t be accused of mismanaging their contributors’ money because they’re betting on the horse with the best odds of winning in each race. It’s like a hedge fund switching to a more risk-averse investment strategy after major losses, even though a lot of Republicans who went bust last year were establishment favorites who weren’t so risky on paper. “Electability” is really just Crossroads’s way of reassuring its funders that next time will be different — with the punchline being that they’ll likely be pressured into backing a few tea-party longshots anyway, just to keep grassroots conservatives from making the CPV endorsement a badge of contempt in the movement that candidates grow reluctant to embrace.

Exit question: Isn’t all of this just a variation on the old debate of whether it’s better to back strong conservatives in every race and risk ending up with a very principled congressional minority or better to support RINOs strategically in some states where conservatives are less likely to win and maybe achieve a squishier majority?

Rove hates the TEA Party and Conservatives, which is why he's employed at Fox News. Rove is the epitome of squishy, big tent, moderate R.

You whole Post is Correct Onyx and that part especially. Is it any wonder why Sarah left Republican Faux News?

NO!

GO TEA PARTY GO FREE REPUBLIC!!!!

Some elders/wiseguys in GOP need to look at the sorry history of Rove’s ‘success’ and realize that he does not run the party and does not give the party directions.

There are NO elders/wiseguys running the GOP-E. THAT is the problem.

RINOs are in charge. Until there's a massive, Titantic shake-up, the GOP-E will continue to lose elections.

The DO NOT ENTER sign is on their smokey secret backroom door to all TEA Party Conservatives.

Thanks very much. Rove is a perfect fit at Fox News, but idiot Fox doesn’t realize that both Conservatives and democrats hate him. He’s a true loser all the way around. He gains them NOTHING.

Perfectly said, onyx.

Rove exhibits typical establishment behavior, in using typical RINO entrenchment tactics, to consolidate power among only the cabal of elite political players, in bed with the monied controllers of more Big Money. Political canasta between the party elites and the banking-investor types trade in money and power, pay to play, and will-play-for-pay.

We have forced these self serving players into the light of day, for one reason. That reason is...... 2010! We exposed them.

Now, it’s us against them. Rove is trying to answer 2010, and prevent a re-occurance.

Which way will Rubio fall? Rand Paul? Paul Ryan? Jeb Bush?
I think they go with Rove and the boys, but for Paul, maybe. It is bad out there, isn’t it? No one with guts has the money, the preparation, or the campaign team to pull off anything, before the establishment coronates, funds, backs and markets the next nominee.

The clock is already running and we’re getting “crickets” from our conservative bench, that’s for sure. No preparation, no calendar concentration, no war chest, no nothing, so far. Eerie, out there.

Rove is one of the 'elites' Reagan warned us about. Definitely not a man who trusts the people. Looks down on the grassroots. Absolutely despises tea party patriots.

"Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.... We've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people." --Ronald Reagan

"Extreme taxation, excessive controls, oppressive government competition with business, frustrated minorities and forgotten Americans are not the products of free enterprise. They are the residue of centralized bureaucracy, of government by a self-anointed elite." --Ronald Reagan

You’re so right, dear RitaOK. Right as rain. 2016 looks scary similar to 2010. I would hate to have Rove back my favorite candidate (slim chance)...lol.

I reckon we have to concentrate on 2014 and thwart the mendacious Rove should he try to interfere in House and US Senate primaries, particularly in Southern states, like South Carolina where Miss Lindsey is up for reelection.

Mighty powerful quotes by our hero, Ronald Reagan.

He’s right and those quotes fit Rove and the GOP-E to a Tee!

Thanks so much, dearest Jim.

To: Jim Robinson; KC_Lion; DJ MacWoW; RitaOK; Graewoulf; vox_freedom; penelopesire; y'all

Let’s compare Sarah Palin’s/ SarahPAC endorsements to Rove’s endorsements during the past two election cycles. LOL.

Rove outspent her PAC by hundreds of millions, yet her candidates won election and they’re not “moderates,” unless you want to call Governor’s Martinez of NM and Haley of SC “moderates” along with US Senator’s like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul. Her list of wins is much, much longer. I’m just citing four.

TEA Party, grassroots, strong Conservatives WIN almost every time, if not every time.

He doesn't win elections either. Not since Bush's in 2004.

and Bush barely won. Bush should have won by a landslide. Why because Rove was too afraid to use Bush's leadership during the 9/11 terrorist attack as a campain issue.
