I have my problems with Jeb Bush, but this passage of his speech at CPAC is not one of them.
"It is not a validation of our conservative principles if we can only point to the increasingly rare individual who overcomes adversity and succeeds in America," Bush said. "Heres reality: if youre fortunate enough to count yourself among the privileged, much of the rest of the nation is drowning.
"In our country today, if youre born poor, if your parents didnt go to college, if you dont know your father, if English isnt spoken at home, then the odds are stacked against you. You are more likely to stay poor today than at any other time since World War II," he said.
Bush lamented that liberals have "channeled the anger and frustration that comes from this oppressive dynamic and used it as an opportunity to attack the very idea of success itself," and argued that conservatism holds out the best path upward for those without power or means.
"Conservative principles, and not liberal dogma, best reflect the ideals that made this nation great," he said.
But he faulted the GOP for not caring about large swaths of the country.....

It’s like the GOP is intentionally going to run Jeb Bush.
How could anyone be so dense to think that anyone with the last name of Bush could win a presidential election?
Even if they had no connection to the Bush family, most low info voters will say no way. There’s too much stigma attached to the name, deserved or not. I would advise Jeb Bush not to run, if he asked why, I’d tell him your last name.
No way in cowboy hell.
Yes. Go Jeb go; far, far away and don’t come back.
The unfortunate thing is that Jeb Bush may have been the better Bush.
We do not need another Amnesty Liberal Bush as President
And one who will keep Conservative Christians home with his wussy like handling of the Terri Schiavo killing
Delusion takes on many forms.
“And one who will keep Conservative Christians home with his wussy like handling of the Terri Schiavo killing”
I for one will stay home. Thanks for bring up the Schiavo murder.
I hope all of you start your calls/emails to the local, state and national Republican parties. Let them know what ya think!!
I make calls and emails from Colombia so there is not excuse not to get involved folks!
NO TO ANY MEMBER OF THE BUSH CLAN!
Stay out da Bushes!
The unfortunate thing is that Jeb Bush may have been the better Bush
We need a better Bush like we need a better migraine headache.
Ah well, I really didn’t want to win the white house in 2016 anyways /sarcasm
Go Jeb Go!!(And take Rove with you)
“In our country today, if youre born poor, if your parents didnt go to college, if you dont know your father, if English isnt spoken at home, then the odds are stacked against you.
SO THAT MEANS WE WILL IMPORT THESE ILLEGAL ALIENS AND LET THE STUPID AMERICAN TAXPAYER FOOT THE BILL!!
SCREW THE AMERICAN WORKERS!
If the GOP somehow manages to nominate Jeb Bush for President its going to be the election where nobody came to vote.
If Jeb is our nominee we will lose again.
If Bush is the answer then the question was stupid.
Say hello to President Clinton, America. The first LGBT President, offered up by the GOP whose campaign cry will be “What Difference Does It Make?”
