Chris Christie Comes Out Against Gay Conversion Therapy
ABC News' The Note ^ | March 22, 2013 | Shushannah Walshe

After initially saying he was undecided on the topic, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is against gay conversion therapy. Christie faced criticism when he said earlier in the week he wasn’t sure if he would sign legislation banning the practice on minors.

“Governor Christie does not believe in conversion therapy,” spokesman Kevin Roberts said in a statement to the New Jersey Star-Ledger. “There is no mistaking his point of view on this when you look at his own prior statements where he makes clear that people’s sexual orientation is determined at birth.”

Gay conversion therapy, also known as reparative therapy, claims to be able to change the sexual orientation of gay people through religious counseling, intense therapy and other methods. Health organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association and the World Health Organization, have all spoken out against conversion therapy, saying it can cause serious and long-term harm. The New Jersey state senate’s health committee approved legislation banning the practice on Monday.

Christie, who is widely thought to have 2016 presidential aspirations, has not said whether he will sign the bill banning the practice. He remains opposed to same sex marriage.....

I have a niece who is smart and athletic and pretty. I have long thought that she was a lesbian -- but she is very discrete and does not look like a lesbian. Her brother, on the the other hand, strikes me as obviously gay.

Anyway, this girl (who is bright, but not a genius) has had doors opened for her all her life. She is 22 and was just offered a plum position at Harvard as a Univesity Adminsitrator of some kind.

You'd have a hard time convincing me that this is not a case of homosexuals opening doors for other homosexuals. They make up a little less than 2% of the population, but they make sure that the positions of power are filled by "club members".

I know, but sexual determination at birth? Bizarre theory.

Should we engage in eugenics too?

Homosexuality is disgusting, but forcing lobotomies on people?

I agree... it is bizarre. Remember though a minor is someone under age 18... I am skeptical that conversion therapy is being done on 6 year olds... but a confused 16 or 17 yo might be different. My guess is the gay lobby knows that the pre-teen and teen years are prime years in their recruiting efforts and professional intervention that would help turn a teen away from the gay lifestyle must be made illegal.

“smart, athletic, pretty” — yeah, obviously a lesbian. HELLO — just because she may not have spread her legs for the fist guy who came around doesn’t make her a lesbian. SOME women hold out for someone they really love and marry later in life. I did.

I lived in Boston for 20 years. I have a background in the arts and I've had close association with two notable universities in Cambridge MA. One was an all-women's college before it became a university. My "gaydar" is pretty finely tuned.

I've known the young lady for 22 years. How long have you known her?

I agree with your first statement.

Okay, so now it is obvious. The ENTIRE agenda of many in Washington (no matter what party)is to force acceptance of homosexuality. Crime, education, the economy, terroristic threats, agriculture, etc., ad infinitum simply are of no interest to the governing authorities.

However your next statement is wrong:

It doesn’t matter that the rest of the nation, the other 98%, are trying to live by some moral standard and see that issue as completely irrelevant. It’s Sodom and Gomorrah all over again

98% are not trying to live by a moral standard.
They may not be queer, but about half or better in this country accept Homosexuaity and do not condemn it.
There is nothing moral about that.

If you accept it you are for it.You are part of the problem of the moral breakdown of this country.

If straight conversion therapy is “banned” how about banning sexual mutilation in the name of transgender “therapy”?

Best suggestion of the day!

I guess if he isn’t gay, he wouldn’t NEED the therapy.

I assume he is opposed to therapy for pedophiles as well, since they seem to be “born that way”.

What he really is opposed to is children getting to decide for themselves whether they want to give in to their base sexual urges, or would rather learn self-control, restraint, and appropriate boundaries.

Children should not be denied the treatment they want, just because gays need recruits.

Chris Christie Comes Out Against Gay Conversion Therapy . . .

. . . and I come out against Homosexual Indoctrination in government schools, and in government-regulated media and entertainment. Can we call it even?

None. But once they get a majority of states to accept the idea that the state can choose better than a parent what moral training a child gets, the next target will be churches.

It will be made illegal for you to teach your child some archaic mystical mythology like “Catholicism”. You won’t be allowed to take your kids to church, or send them through catechism. They will close the church-related schools, because they have to protect the children from the “child abuse” of teaching them that there is a God and there is sin and there is a heaven and hell. It’s all just tricks to make kids behave in ways that aren’t “natural”.

This is the end game. It will be illegal to raise up your child to believe in God. You will have your children taken away from you.

If you say, I want very much to be attracted to the other sex, so I can marry and raise children in keeping with my beliefs, then what you really need is help in accepting your orientation.

If you say, I want very much for my body to be the other sex, so it comports with my mental image of myself, then what you need is therapy to help you explore your options, and perhaps hormone treatment and surgery.

Just proves he’s and idiot. Anyone who believes that homosexuality is determined solely at birth are idiots and don’t understand much about human sexuality.

You are exactly right. Teenage years can be confusing and gay activists clearly are interested in trapping as many young people who are exposed to an often unatural level of sexual stimuli in the culture and through inappropriate exposure to pornography etc in the idea that they are gay and must act on those desires or they will not be happy. Below is a typical link.

Yep. The political class GOP or DEM is the political class and they desire to transform America. There is absolutely no good reason to force the acceptance and normalcy of homosexuality or other deviant behaviors. All it does is confuse young people and deny many of them a normal family life not defined by their weird sex choices.
