As bleak as things look for the GOP in the short-term (and they do look bleak), it’s stunning to consider the entirely possible scenario whereby Republicans could control the presidency and both houses of Congress in the very near future.
Consider this: As Romney learned, history says it’s difficult to defeat a sitting president in the modern era. But it is arguably even harder for a political party to win three consecutive presidential elections.
Only George H.W. Bush (who was essentially awarded Reagan’s third term) has pulled it off in the last fifty, or so, years. And that’s just what Democrats will attempt to do. What is more, in all likelihood, they will nominate Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden. Having passed the torch to a new generation of leaders, what are the odds Americans will choose to go backwards generationally?
History, of course, doesn’t always repeat itself. But if history is a predictor, then Republicans appear to be due for a presidential victory in 2016.
But what about 2014? The president’s party typically loses seats during mid-term elections, and since Republicans already control the House, it’s probably safe to assume they will retain control at least until 2016.........

LOL! This is like deja vu all over again. We’ve already heard this song before. It ain’t gonna happen. The GOP is done. This is now a one party country like the Third Reich or the old Soviet Union.
right now i seriously believe nothing will get any better. they’ll just do what they always do. They like it the left is crazy, they like it that they use the dialectic and incrementally shift the country left more and more, they get their jollies controlling how much the left gets to move the country to the left, by determining how much they’ll compromise. Compromise is a given, it’s just how much will they compromise.
Everything keeps moving in the direction the left wants. Without complete and utter defunding of all the institutions they control, we can’t create fundamental change that we can actually grow and move to the right.
My theory on why repubes might win something?

Our choices for 2016 will be full left via the democrats, or slightly full left via the republicans. Either way, we The People are totally screwed, unless we do something about it.
Maybe. But what would they do with it if they had it all?
My guess is continue to expand government and hand it back to the masters as soon as possible.
They could do Bigger Tent, make people think they are Democrats and vote for them by mistake.
That seems to be what most of the GOPe are advocating.
What do you do with something so rotten it is no longer useful?
You throw it away, destroy it. And then use something new.
Wish I could be as optimistic, but I can’t. ‘Rats are bringing in third-worlders, hand over fist, and registering the dead. And Pubbies, led by RINOs, are too namby-pamby to do anything about it. Our goose is cooked.
Yes, destroy every molecule so it never comes back.
And then keep educating people on how rotten it was and make sure it’s never considered again.
Keep fhe Romney’s Bushes and College Republicans away and it could happen.
Yep, but people have to realize that it’s rot and needs to be destroyed.
But most people won’t because it’s constantly being polished, shined, patched up until you can’t tell the rot from the good.

If she runs she would do better to form a new party IMHO.
The problem is just what the article says. The GOP keeps thinking it’s their turn. But the democrats won’t give them the ball.
Why not take over the GOP at the grass-roots, precinct level? The evangelicals did it in Iowa in 1987-88. I saw it
with my own two eyes.

Exactly. The country requires a nice, horrible revolution. A bloody re-boot and we’re good to go.
This is why Obama MUST have a 3rd Term. The Democrats will move heaven and earth to make this happen. They may even cancel the 2016 election due to some crisis. I fear a new Party is needed to replace the old Moss Back GOP. A new Party—A Liberty Party a more militant version of the Tea Party.
